Blast Zone Makes It Easy To Have A Water Park In Your Own Yard

Summer is just about here, if you’re like me you’re probably busy making summer plans. We have some nice day trips planned and since we live on a lake, we really love the summer! Keeping the kids active and cool all summer long may seem like a huge undertaking especially if you don’t have a pool or lake nearby.  How about your own water park in your yard?  Wouldn’t that be a great way to keep the kids busy, active and cool all summer long?  It is so easy with Blast Zone’s Inflatable Crocodile Isle Water Park with 2 Slides!

croc Isle water park croc Isle

This huge inflatable is only about the size of an extra-large folded sleeping bag when deflated.  The magic occurs when you attach the UL listed blower, in mere minutes, before your eyes, it inflates into a child’s dream-their own water park!  With a large pool area and 2 long fun slides, climbing wall, lookout platform and spraying water they will have hours of fun, playing and keeping cool.

Simple to set up, and one tip we want to share to make things easier is  to get a very large tarp to put under the inflatable. The tarp makes it easy to move the deflated water park on the tarp to different areas of your yard. The other advantage with the tarp is that it is easy to cover the deflated and dry inflatable when it rains.  We keep our inflatables out all summer and using this method our inflatables are in great shape year after year.

Blast Zone 1

To set up, all you do is unpack the inflatable, quickly attach the water hoses and sprayer to the handy velcro holders, tie the little air out take and hook the included blower to the yellow intake and turn it on.

When inflated you can secure with the included stakes to keep you inflatable safe and secure and there are even stakes for the blower.  Then simply attach your garden hose to the hose that extends down the back of the inflatable and secure.

Turn on your water supply and the water will spray out of the spray heads located above each slide  and eventually fill the pool area,  Now you could fill the pool area too if you like and then connect the hose to the back as well.  We do it the first way and it works fine.  now if you live in the mountains like me and do not have truly level land you  will find areas of the pool that are deeper and areas where it is very shallow but my kids never really care about that and given we move it around all the time the changes in the water of the pool is fun.

Blast Zone 16

One big advantage the Crocodile Isle has  over the Ultra Croc we have is that with the climbing wall in the front they kids do not exit the pool to climb up to the platform and go down the slides.  This means that they will not be tracking grass, leaves and dirt back into the water and slides.  I really like that!  This is a huge inflatable, 14′ D by 22′ W by 8′ H  with room for up to 6 kids to play at once. The rugged Crocodile Isle Water Park is constructed according to Blast Zone’s strict quality and safety standards, using double and quadruple stitched, reinforced polyester oxford. Commercial-grade vinyl is used on the climbing and slide surfaces, adding extra strength and longer life to the unit. As with all our products, the Crocodile Isle comes with Blast Zone’s industry-leading warranty and customer support.  There is a handy storage bag to hold the inflatable at the end of the season for storage.

Please note, we just turned the water on that is why it is not showing much in the inflatable. The water fills it very nicely and creates a refreshing splash pool!

As a blogger I have a brand relationship with Blast Zone and have tested many of their products over the last several years.  I  can tell you that when you are making a purchase like this, you want a quality inflatable, one that is not just going to last for one season.  Over the years we have reviewed many inflatables from Blast Zone and do you know that all of the ones we reviewed we still use and they are in excellent shape.  Multiple years and they look great and provide year after year of enjoyment. As a parent it only makes sense to invest in a product that is going to last and not one that is trashed at the end of the season.

You can see some of our other reviews of Blast Zone products HERE!  There are videos to show you the products in action.  If you have any questions please ask.  I have a lot of experience with the products and would love to assist you with your questions.    The Blast Zone products are available for purchase on Amazon. Recommended for ages 3 years and up. Max weight on inflated structure is 300 lbs. If you have a Blast Zone product I would love for you to tell me what you have and what you love about it.  If you are looking to buy one, share with me which you think you will purchase.

A Quality Bunk Bed Plus a Soft, Single Mattress Equals Sound Sleep

*The article below is a guest post by Jennifer Cartwright.

Good-Quality-Sleep

Achieving the rest we need involves much more than our physical mindset alone. A soft, single mattress is perfect for those who want to experience sound sleep and therefore achieve a healthy lifestyle. Of course, there are several reasons behind this observation and it is important to appreciate the numerous benefits that such bedding will offer. Thankfully, we do not have to be expert chiropractors to understand some of the basic principles and qualities to look for. Let’s have a closer examination.

The Comfort of Your Body

Although many of the most respected sleep advice articles mention proper exercise, reducing stress and meditating, very few recognise how important a firm (and yet soft) mattress can be in obtaining quality rest.

I would suggest on checking out Buyer’s Guide to Bunk Bed Mattress that way you will know exactly what to look for. There are hundreds of choices out there, so make sure you go with a soft/plushy mattress feel but this also will depend on what type of sleeper you are, so make sure to do your research.

As quality sleep is so important, traditional mattresses that contain box springs should be avoided. They will not accommodate for the natural contours of your body. This can lead to a restless sleep and even back problems. If possible, a type of material known as memory foam is the best choice. As it will evenly distribute your weight, you are more likely to achieve the proper amount of rest.
Memory-Foam-Mattress
Bunk Beds

Although it is an unfortunate fact, some of us have trouble sleeping next to another person. Perhaps our partner is very restless or we simply cannot get comfortable. In this case, purchasing a high-quality bunk bed is an ideal solution. In fact, you will be surprised to learn that some individuals actually sleep better when they are higher up. It is likely that you will not know this until you try it out.

coolest Bunk Beds

The best beds will offer the same mattresses as described above alongside a sturdy frame and the possibility of safety bars on the top bunk. Thankfully, there are a number of styles and designs to choose from. These include countless types of wood finishes and even metal frames.

Getting a solid night of sleep is essential in warding off illnesses, maintaining a healthy mental outlook and functioning in our daily lives. Choosing the right type of single mattress combined with a quality bunk bed can help you to enjoy the sleep that you so desperately desire.

Blast Zone, Rainforest Rapids Inflatable Review and Magic Castle Bounce House Giveaway!!!

BlastZoneLogo

We recently reviewed Blast Zone’s Rainforest Rapids Wet or Dry Inflatable with Slides.  First let me say we are huge Blast Zone fans and our kids spend the entire late spring, summer and early fall in their inflatables.  This is our Fifth Inflatable from Blast Zone and I can tell you they are very high quality and all 5 are going strong!

Blast Zone Rainforest Rapids

Blast Zone Rainforest Rapids 2

We live on a lake and we have all the kids coming over to use them and they hold up to all the abuse the kids can dish out.  We were very impressed with the Rainforest Rapids Inflatable, it was a cinch to set up, just like all the Blast Zone inflatables we have and super easy to attach the tubes for the water.  We have been using it for several weeks and I will tell you that it is so easy to maintain.

What my husband and I do to make things really easy is that we purchased very large, high quality tarps that we put under our inflatables.  It keeps them clean and you can deflate them and then wrap the tarp around the inflatable for a cover if rain is coming and the next day uncover and inflate.  The kids go from bouncing to sliding to splashing and swimming with ease and squeals of delight.

The unit keeps them cool and active all day and they have so much fun.  It is the first thing turned on in the morning and literally not turned off until dark during the Summer.  I think these units are a great investment for families because they are like having a water park in your yard and are great for birthdays and parties too!

Painting Vintage and Antique Furniture 101

One of the presents I wanted and received for Christmas this year was a computerized sewing machine.  So, do I sew?  If you call the owl pillow I made in 6th grade sewing, then yes, I do sew.  Of course, with a new sewing machine and new supplies, I needed a sewing table,  I knew I did not want a cheap table made of particle board. I started searching online and I found a sewing table I really liked (pictured below).

sewing table

What I didn’t like about it, was the nearly $600 price tag.  I started a search for something else, and in my search, I found an antique vanity for $35 on Craigslist.  They also had a $50 antique desk I bought as well, but that’s another post.

Anyway, with the vanity in hand, I needed to learn how to paint, distress and antique it to make it amazing. In my search, I discovered an awesome blog called, Oopsredone. Browsing the site,  I saw a few things she did in a turquoise paint called Holiday Cozumel Aqua that she later distressed and antiqued with Minwax stain.  I bought a gallon of the paint and started doing some ladder back chairs which will be featured in a future post. However, after painting the chairs, and noticing all the details on the vanity, I wanted to make things easier.

Armed with my paint chip, I found a very close match in a Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch 2X  satin spray paint in a color called Lagoon.  I bought the Rust-Oleum Painter Touch Ultra Cover 2X Gray spray primer as well and drove home to get to work sanding.  I fixed one flaw in the top with Elmer’s Carpenters Max wood fill and then sanded, but since I wanted a distressed look, I decided to keep the edges the way they were.

Rustoleum-Lagoon

vanity3

I primed, sanded with a fine sandpaper and spray painted the vanity. After that dried, I sanded lightly with a fine sandpaper and sprayed on another coat of paint. Next, I used Rust-Oleum Transformations, Decorative Glaze in Java Brown.  I had tried the Minwax stain method on the ladder back chairs, but it was harder to work with, and had a tendency to keep the piece sticky for some time.

I am so glad I tried the glaze, I absolutely love the results and the ease of use.  You just apply it and then wipe it off using varying pressure.  It is specially formulated to give you more time to work, so you can get the results you desire.  After that, I applied 2 coats of Minwax Polyurethane Satin to protect the finish.  Finally, I added some new hardware, and decoupaged some fun paper in the drawers and on the inside of the cabinet and door back.

The pictures do not do the piece justice. and I will take some more once I get it set up inside, I have some little things I am going to show you in another post about how I am organizing everything.  Anyway, If you have any questions on how I did anything. just ask in the comments.

Restoration Of A Vintage Little School Desk–A Labor of Love!!!

My father was a great man and he had a very successful career as an Engineer.  With his own business he designed and built churches, schools, industrial buildings, custom homes and much more.  More than once he brought home some school desks (quite a few) of various sizes.  They were mostly in pristine condition and having several I had my own classroom for my dolls and bears in my playroom.

The desks got shuffled between our lake house and our full-time home.  I know at one point when I had the first of my kids I had one brought up here but it remained in the basement of the lake house.  Several years ago I bought paint and had every intention of freshening it up but it never happened.  2 more kids happened and at some point it must have become damp or wet and rust happened.

However, I was steadfast in my determination and added it to my great list of projects.  Friday afternoon I unearthed it from my garage.  Yikes!  It was sad, and in very rough condition but I had a vision.  My husband also gave me some tools to achieve my vision.  First I went over the whole thing with a wire brush and next my husband gave me a very powerful drill with a circular metal bristle whosiawatzit that just like magic buffed and grinded that rust away and left me with bare metal to work with.

After it was cleaned up, I applied a primer.  Let that dry, that was Friday night.  Saturday which was a busy day because it was Ethan’s birthday, I applied a coat of high gloss gray Rustoleum paint.  Then today, Sunday, I sanded the seat and backrest.  I taped and applied a second coat of paint, then stained the seat and backrest and applied a coat of polyurethane.

The completed project only took a few hours in total between late Friday afternoon and late Sunday afternoon.  The poly is drying and I will bring it inside in about an hour to get some nicer pictures.  I am really proud to have this memory of mine in my house, to be used by my little ones.  It truly was a labor of love and it was amazing to breathe some new life into a tired, sad, little desk.

This is the first of many projects I have planned.  So stay tuned for lots of transformations of all kinds.  Okay, off to add some felt feet and bring this baby inside.  I will update with a picture soon of the finished project.

String Eggs; A Fun Easter Craft!!!

Sting eggs are an easy and fun craft project you can make to decorate for Easter and other occasions. To get started, you will need balloons, white glue and crochet thread.  The small water balloon type balloons work best because you can easily inflate them to look like eggs.

stringeggs

Make a glue mixture with white glue and water. Use 2 parts glue and 1 part water, this is messy, so be sure to cover your work surface.  Next, cut the thread and dip it in the glue and start wrapping it around the balloon.

stringeggs1

You can use a lot of string to wrap or use less, it is a personal choice as to which look you like. When you have have finished wrapping the entire balloon, you can hand them or prop them up to dry. When they are fully dry and stiff to the touch, hold the end of the balloon and pop it with a pin.

stringeggs2

stringeggs3

stringeggs4

Don’t be scared, I made a lot of these, and very few popped with a loud pop because of all the glue they are coated with. Instead, they release the air slowly making sounds similar to the snap, crackle and pop you hear when you add milk to Rice Krispies cereal. Once the balloon is completely deflated you can easily pull it out through an opening in the string.

stringeggs5

Place your string eggs in a bowl, put them on a ribbon to make a festive garland, use them to make a wreath, you can even add pretty little string lights, there are so many options, so have fun!

Blast Zone, Ultra Croc Inflatable Water Park Review!!! Exclusive Discount Codes!!!

You may remember our review of the Blast Zone Hang Ten we did a few months ago.  We love that inflatable so when we had the chance to review the huge Ultra Croc Inflatable Water Park we were ecstatic.  It arrived quickly and was very easy to unpack and set up.  All we had to do was unroll the inflatable and then hook the blower up, plug the blower in and voila, we were up and ready to attach the water hoses and sprayers.  It was pretty easy for my husband to attach them and they have multiple velcro fasteners to hold the hose and sprayer heads on securely.  We were also able to just leave them attached and deflate and inflate time and again.  We have used in multiple times in the few days we have had it.  I like that the hose tubing is clear so you can see that it is clean and if there was ever an obstruction.

This inflatable has three separate pools, 3 slides, a climbing wall and that all equals a tremendous amount of fun on a hot day.  My three-year old climbs the wall no problem and there are lots of safety handles for him to use.  They have a blast with this inflatable and we have to literally drag them out when the sun starts going down and they start shivering.  Even then they don’t want to get out.  We never hear that they are tired of it or don’t want to go in.  We simply set it up and start the water in the morning and they are in for the majority of the day.

The quality is great, and we are so glad it has so many commercial features because it is going to hold up very well to the tremendous amount of use it is going to receive.  If you are looking for something super fun to keep the kids active and cool this summer, check out the Blast Zone Ultra Croc Inflatable Water Park or any one of their other great inflatables.  A big thank you to Blast Zone for this incredibly generous and fun review!!!

About The Blast Zone “Ultra” Line

The Blast Zone line of Ultra inflatables takes our most popular Home-Use inflatables to the Next level. Each Blast Zone Ultra Inflatable is based on inflatables that have proven themselves with years of fun, safety, durability and quality. We have taken these inflatables and made them BIGGER and BETTER, adding additional features, designs, reinforcement and more commercial grade materials.

What do I get?

Each Blast Zone inflatable includes the inflatable unit, a UL approved blower a carrying case, stakes for the blower and stakes for the bouncer. The inflatable unit rolls up to about the size of a medium to large sleeping bag (depending on bouncer). Most of our inflatable toys ship via UPS in one box that includes everything. To set up the bouncer, just unroll it, hook the inflation tube to the blower, turn on the blower and stake it down. The blower runs continuously while kids play, and air escapes through the seams and fabric.

Naturepedic, Organic, Waterproof Mattress Protector Pad Review

It’s really important to me that my children have the best quality mattresses that we can get them because they spend so much time +sleeping and I want them on a safe, healthy mattress with good support.  With little ones though, there are lots of little accidents that can happen and you want to protect that expensive mattress so it will stay fresh and clean for a long time.

Sometimes though, we buy mattresses made with organic fibers and then we don’t put much thought into a mattress cover to protect them.  That really defeats the purpose of getting that healthy mattress if we go and cover it with a mattress cover that is made of harmful, toxic materials.

I would highly suggest to first look at the Best Mattress Toppers Reviews – Complete Buying Guide to get a better ideal on all the different types of pads available.

I recently had a chance to review a Naturepedic Waterproof, Organic Protector Pad for my preschooler’s full size bed.  This pad is made in the USA, has NO Vinyl/PVC, NO Phthalates,  NO Latex (for allergy concerns) and is GREENGUARD® Certified.  There are waterproof and non-waterproof versions available in sizes bassinet through Queen size in the waterproof and crib size to full size int the non-waterproof.  Both the waterproof and non-waterproof pads feature two layers of organic cotton flannel – top and bottom.

The Ultra-Thin Waterproof Barrier In Center – Waterproof Version Only features DrySleep™ technology, which effectively blocks liquids from passing through while still allowing the fabric to “breathe.” Some water vapor is allowed to escape resulting in less “sweaty backs” and a drier, more comfortable sleep. Provides a soft, non-sweaty and comfortable waterproof barrier (as compared to vinyl and rubber) and also blocks dust-mites and other allergens. Both versions are easy care machine washable and dryable.

I know, I sleep better knowing that my child is sleeping on a safe breathable, organic mattress pad that even has protection for little accidents that may occur when we least expect them.

Naturepedic is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings and one lucky blog reader will win a Naturepedic organic, waterproof mattress pad in their choice of size from bassinet to full size.  Thank you Naturepedic for the review mattress pad and for sponsoring this great giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

Blast Zone, Hang 10 Wet/Dry Bounce Slide Combo Inflatable Review!!! Bonus 25% Off Discount Code!!!

One of the things my kids love about their mom being a review blogger, is that I get some pretty cool stuff to review.   We recently had the opportunity to choose a Blast Zone Inflatable to review.  We ended up choosing the Hang 10, which is a large inflatable with a bounce section and a huge slide that can be used wet or dry, for fun year round.  We have been having such a mild winter here in NY State.  We have not had snow and sledding parties needed to be cancelled.  So we had planned to do the review on a mild day and during the night we had a brief dusting of snow.  We however went ahead with our plans, and just so you know, it was very mild even though there is some snow on the grass. The inflatable comes with everything you need, the blower, the stakes (please note that since we were doing just a review and the ground was hard we did not put the stakes in as we would do if we were planning on using the unit for a party or for the kids to play in for a long time.  You may also want to use sand bags to make it super secure, especially if there is any wind.  It also includes the hosing and sprayer attachments to make it a wet slide in the warmer weather and a large storage bag is also included.  You take the inflatable out and unfold it and then just hook the blower up and in minutes the unit is inflated and ready to be staked down.  This inflatable is very attractive with its bright, bold colors and cute little palm tree accents.  The bounce portion has a handle and foot holes so that a child can boost up to the slide for a fun ride out of the bounce house.

There is an entrance ramp to the bounce house and it is completely enclosed for safety.  The bottom of the slide forms a bit of a pit that is great for a water pool when using it in the summer and you can also fill it with those small colored balls to add even more fun during other times.  The bouncer is very well constructed, made with quality materials and is very impressive.  My kids just loved this inflatable and burned off lots of energy.  It is so easy to set up and take down that you can really use it anytime quickly and easily.  If you are looking for something that will provide hours of fun, exercise and giggles you need to check out Blast Zone Inflatables.  They have such a great selection of products!
