Milkhouse Creamery, Soy Candles Infused with Beeswax Review & $50 Gift Certificate Giveaway!!!

Milkhouse Candle Creamery founders, Eric and Janet Sparrow, have deep-rooted ties to agricultural America. It is their Midwest upbringing that inspired the creation for a cleaner, healthier candle experience. From years of researching, experimenting, and just having fun creating, Milkhouse Candle Creamery was born.

Pillars and Cappi Mugs

Years after the original candles were produced in standard canning jars bought at local auctions, Milkhouse is steadily gaining respect from consumers world-wide for producing the cleanest burning candle on the market. You won’t find artificial color in these candles, and you won’t find any lead in the wicks. The Milkhouse blend of waxes is simple: pure beeswax and natural soy wax from soybeans grown right here, in the America’s upper Midwest.

Milkhouse Butterjars and Milkbottles

The good folks at Milkhouse have kept “sustainability” at the forefront of product development. Natural, renewable waxes contain none of the carcinogens of paraffin candles, and the 40% recycled glassware containers are 100% recyclable, so your candle jars will have a life in your home long after the wax is gone.

The Cheesecrocks

I recently received an assortment of Milkhouse Creamery Candles to review.  They are very clean-looking and clean-burning.  I really like that there are no carcinogens in their waxes and that their candle jars and crocks are reusable to cut down on waste.  I really love the crock candle because that lovely crock with the wood lid will come in so handy long after the candle is gone.  The milk bottle candle is so cute and I can just picture reusing the little milk bottle on my kitchen window sill filled with wildflowers that my little ones pick for me.  The butter jar candle has a decorative black handle and again I can think of many uses for this lovely jar when the wax is gone.  It would be lovely in my powder room filled with shells we collected from our favorite beach.  The scents I received are Barn Dance ( A masculine tribute to the rural life— Deep notes of rich cologne and pipe tobacco.), Autumn Pear (Juicy ripe pears warmed by the sun touched with just a kiss of vanilla, brown sugar and spice.) and Citrus & Lavender (Clean tart citrus notes combined with fresh fields of lavender buds.).  They have so many great scents so there is truly something for everyone no matter what type of scents they are partial to.

Milkhouse Travelers and Votives

Milkhouse Candles really make a great gift because they are truly 2 gifts in one.  I even received a recipe card for filling this crock with a delicious treat after the candle has been enjoyed.

Zipfizz, Healthy Energy Mix 5 day Challenge Review & Giveaway!!!

I was asked to try Zipfizz’s 5 day challenge for a review, I agreed to drink 1 Zipfizz energy drink a day for 5 days straight and blog about my experience. First I will give you a little information about Zipfizz:

Zipfizz is made of all natural ingredients, it gives your body a rush of vitamins, minerals and key amino acids, primarily Vitamin B12, the energy vitamin. It contains fewer calories, lower carbohydrates, and no sugar, so users will have increased energy for up to 4-6 hours without the “crash” associated with other energy drinks. That Zipfizz is primarily water when you drink it, it keeps you hydrated and refreshed on hot days!

Zipfizz comes in small airtight containers that keep the mix fresh until you need it. They are small, so they fit almost anywhere, like my purse, diaper bag, or just waiting in the car. You just mix it into water when you need it. I got 5 different flavors of Zipfizz to try each day of the challenge, it was nice to have a variety rather than having the same flavor every day. They all tasted pretty good with a hint of fizz, they had a bit of a vitamin-like flavor, like kids chewable vitamins. There was Berry, Citrus, Grape, Orange Soda, and Pink Lemonade flavors, they were all good, I liked the berry flavor best. I also got a handy water bottle to use with my Zipfizz drinks, it has a marker line at 16 ounces so you can fill it up with water right to the line, without having to measure before you pour it into the bottle!

Now before I started the challenge, I had been feeling tired for weeks, and was always wishing for a nap by 2 or 3 in the afternoon, so I thought this would be a great time to try out the Zipfizz. Once I started drinking one a day, I noticed that I was not really tired in the afternoon anymore, I felt awake and energized, the energy drinks were doing their job!

I am impressed by this little drink mix, it is a healthy way to give you energy. I do not usually drink energy drinks, because of all the sugar and additives they put in them. But Zipfizz gives your body what it needs without sacrificing flavor or adding that unhealthy junk!

If you are interested in Zipfizz energy drinks, I am happy to announce that they are sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings! One lucky reader will in a 5 day supply of Zipfizz and water bottle! Thank you Zipfizz for sponsoring this energizing review and giveaway!!! Open to US residents.

Playful Planet, Storyland Yoga DVD, Review & Giveaway!!!

Recently, I was sent a Storyland Yoga DVD for review.  This award winning DVD is for kids ages 3-8 and is produced by Playful Planet. Instructor Ahmed Fahmy provides a great way for kids and parents to spend some healthy time together.  Children act out the stories through Yoga poses.  There are two 20 minute story sessions on the DVD.  Younger children may not be able to stay focused the entire 20 minutes but even if they are able to do 10 or 15 minutes it will be a benefit and they should be able to do more as they progress and get older.  The stories keep the kids interested and it is very calming and great to do to settle the little ones down and parents can do it with their kids for a special treat.  The poses are not overly complicated and little ones will be able to follow along easily.  My little ones are always wanting to do any exercise DVD along with me so this is great since it is something we can easily all do together.

Product Description:

Storyland Yoga is a fun-filled adventure that infuses children with an eco-conscious message.  Two unique stories,  “Save the Whale” and “Condor Trek” engage a child’s imagination through storytelling.  Kid’s learn yoga postures by becoming part of the story and imitating animals. Yoga is great exercise and helps to calm children giving them greater focus and increased clarity.  Storyland Yoga is equally fun for parents and family members who can benefit from yoga, while enjoying ‘organic time’ with their children.  Winner of Parent’s Choice ApprovedMom’s Choice GoldDr. Toy’s Best Green Product and Creative Child Magazine “Preferred Choice” in the Environmentally Friendly Category. Enjoy 2 full stories plus  bonus features on this DVD packaged in 100% recycled materials.

My Craigslist Deal of the Century!!! Tell Me About Yours!!!

I haven’t purchased many things on Craigslist.  In fact, I am thinking, that I have only used Craigslist in the past to list things I had for sale.  However, the other day, I found the greatest desk on Craigslist.  I saw the listing late one evening when I was working into the wee hours of the morning like I typically do.  I thought the listing had to be a joke, since I have seen many listings on Craigslist that were fakes and offering something really great for a small price just to play with people’s minds.  So I jokingly sent a link to the ad to my husband’s email since he had the good sense to be in bed asleep.  The next morning I asked if he had seen the link, he said yes but he thought it was for another similar desk he had seen a day or two ago for at least 4 times as much and he told me the guy emailed and said the desk was sold.  I told him that this was a different desk and he told me to call the guy and see.  It was about 10 am and I was sure if this was a true listing this desk would have been taken by now.  The only contact given was a cell number and a man’s name.  I think that may have helped us because had it had an email contact he would have been swamped with emails.

I was not too sure what to expect as the phone rang, but an older gentleman answered and I asked if the desk was still available.  He told me it was.  With my jaw dropped, I asked if there were any problems, thinking their must be something seriously wrong for it to be so inexpensive.  He not only told me there were no problems, he told me they had a kid free, smoke free, pet free home and there was not so much as one nick on the desk.  I put my husband on the phone and he made a deal with the guy and the guy told him that we sounded great and if we said we were coming that day, he would hold the desk.

My husband had some metal things to cart to the dump and recycling station so he figured while he was traveling down to pick up the desk he would stop at the dump and get rid of it.  So he packed up the bed of his truck and took off with both little ones to travel about 1.5 hours each way to get this beauty.  I was still expecting there to be a catch.  Well, when he arrived at the dump, the scales were closed and so he could not get rid of the load.  He called the man who said his phone had been ringing off the hook about the desk which scared my husband, so he told them man he was coming as is to pay for it.  So he called me and let me know what happened.  When he arrived at the man’s home, he said the desk was pristine, all wood, gorgeous oak, just as the man had said.  It even had the paperwork from the manufacturer with a lifetime warranty!  He said it was purchased for his wife and they were now moving down to Myrtle Beach, SC and selling the desk.

The next day he went back and boy was that fun, the desk was huge, thankfully the top could be unscrewed and the hutch as well to make the moving easier but it was still so heavy.  He thought at first he was going to have to make 2 trips to pick up everything including the chair.  Now, I was thinking if that was a third trip that this was not turning out to be such a bargain given his time, gas and everything but he was able to maneuver things and get everything in.  When I saw it for the first time, I really could not believe it.  After we got it set back up, I went to dust it and I do not think this desk was ever really used. The interior of every drawer is flawless, just like brand new.  The desk drawer on top was lined with brown felt and there was not so much as a speck on it or any wear.  The pen/pencil tray did not even have a lead mark.  When I dusted and looked at the cloth it was white, no dirt, ink transfer anything to even say that someone had used the desk.  I really had to sit and just look at it for the whole thing to sink in. The roll top also locks as well as the two file drawers. I truly think this is my Craigslist find of a lifetime.

See how clean and unused the drawers are.

So I am curious, have you found something stupendous on Craigslist or a similar online classified service.  I would love to hear your stories.

Potty Cover, Disposable Toilet Seat Cover Review & Giveaway!!!

You probably hear most parents talk about how grateful they are when their child is potty trained.  I agree it can be very liberating to not have to worry about changing diapers but that liberation does not bring joy to this gemophobe’s life when they need to use a public potty.  I myself have a huge problem with public bathrooms and it has to be an absolute emergency for me to use one.  They disgust me and with the number of people who use them and are disgusted themselves, that they squat and hover  in their attempt not to touch it, they are very wet and very messy.  A small child does not understand or have the coordination for these actions and so this can make a public outing less than desireable.  Also with baseball, softball and t-ball in full swing we are out at the ball field at least 2 times a week where the only choice for kids is the lovely green port a potty.  Just the thought makes me dry heave, boys are easier because they can stand for at least the more frequent reason for a trip to the potty.  Girls are a bit trickier and I can remember holding my nearly 2-year-old daughter up over the seat of a public toilet and trying to get her to pee.  Not fun to say the least.

I do appreciate the toilet seat covers that some restrooms have but as we know there just are so many that do not have them and even when they do they do not cover the front or sides of the toilet and we know little ones put their hands everywhere.  Also, they are not waterproof and so no protection from the wet mess left by the squatters.

I was asked to do a review for Potty Cover.  Potty Cover is a disposable toilet seat cover that covers the seat, sides and front of the toilet to keep germs and wetness away from your child. These covers must have been invented by a fellow member of the germophobe club. I know just the thought of having them with me, makes a day out with my kids much more enjoyable.  Potty Cover is the largest cover among similar products on the market.  With Potty Cover you truly are covered for any restroom experience even the dreaded gas station stop.

Potty Cover is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win Potty Cover Disposable Toilet Covers.  Thank you to Potty Cover for making this germophobe mom a little less neurotic and for sponsoring this great giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US and Canadian residents.

ALPHABETOWN USA LAUNCHES LINE OF FUN AND EDUCATIONAL CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Engaging series helps teach and encourage young ones to read through the use of lively characters and illustrations and worthy life lessons

Imagine living in Alphabetown USA , populated by letters from the alphabet which  come alive, have their own personality and teach young children word formation.  The new Alphabetown USA series of stories from Beaner Books features the titles Where is Ziggy?, Hannah’s Homework and Catena Goes Camping followed this summer by the introduction of Madison’s Magical Adventure.

I was recently sent Catena Goes Camping for review.  This book is so great and one of the best things was one of the characters was named Ethan, just like one of my sons so that was a real hit with him.  The books are very high quality with full color, thick, glossy pages.  The story follows the vowel gang on a camping trip, the book features a lesson on the letter C and the value of being prepared.  The books teach word-formation, vowel usage and life lessons in stories that kid’s like and can identify with. This is a win win for kids and parents.

The Alphabetown USA series was developed by Ryan and Nicole Mayer, a husband and wife team from Rolesville, North Carolina and is illustrated by artist Russ Simmons. The first Alphabetown book, Where Is Ziggy? , prior to its official publication was made available for use in local elementary schools. TravelProducts.com Review and $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway!!!

I recently had the chance to review something from TravelProducts.com.  I chose the Paisley Travel Cosmetic Bag Set.  This cute little set was smaller than I thought it was going down in size to an incredibly tiny little pouch.  I remember a very good friend of mine when  growing up always had the tiniest little pouches and bags like this because she loved “little things.”  I am still friends with her today and I know if she would see this set, she would be ordering it in a heartbeat.  My husband even said it was really cute.  The largest bag is a good bag for cosmetics and then they go down in size but are great for a multitude of things like contact lens cases, lip balms, jewelry, medication, mints, and other little things you don’t want rolling around loose in your luggage or purse.  The great print makes it easy to find these travel bags, they all have handy zippers and when empty they all nest inside of each other for easy storage.

Keep your travel luggage cute with our Paisley Travel Cosmetic Bag Set! This travel cosmetic bag set consists of 4 zip-shut cosmetic pouches that fit one inside the other for easy storage. Each bag has a quilted cotton exterior in a beautiful pink, red, green, and white paisley print with a slight gold sheen.

ByTavi offers bags manufactured in a fair environment where workers are empowered to learn new vocational skills, and are paid fairly based on their own chosen productivity. Made in Cambodia.

4 Cosmetic Bags:
8″ L x 0.5″ W x 5″ H
5.5″ L x 0.5″ W x 3.5″ H
4″ L x 0.5″ W x 3″ H
2.5″ L x 0.25″ W x 2″ H

The TravelProducts.com store has lots of great products one needs when traveling like travel adapters, power converters, luggage, translators, travel blankets, pillows, organizers and more to make traveling easier and more comfortable.  They even have a handy downloadable travel checklist to help you when planning and packing.

Shoo Shoos, Leather Baby Shoes Review!!!Shoo Shoos, Leather Baby Shoes Review!!!

We recently connected with Shoo Shoos and collaborated to do a review with them. They sent me a pair of their leather, rubber flexi sole shoes for my baby to try out in the navy/white Docksider style. The shoes are excellent quality, the leather soft and supple and the soles are flexible, waterproof, non-slip rubber. They were put together very well, the stitching is uniform, with no loose threads. The style is cute and grown-up, with the velcro straps and elastic backs, they stay put and are easy to put on, even when my baby is wiggly. One problem with ordering things online is that sizes can be iffy, my boy has small feet, so I was happy to see that they do everything they can to make sure you have the right size! When ordering their shoes, they give you the shoe size, average age for each size, and if that is not enough, you can download their size chart! The easy to use printout shows all of their sizes on a ruler, you just place baby’s foot on the template and where the toe hits, that’s the size you need. My baby acted excited about his new shoes, and took off as soon as I got them on him to try them out. They fit perfectly, and seemed comfortable for him. They are a great pair of shoes, the style is versatile enough that he wore them to church, all dressed up, as well as just for playing in! The shoes came in a cute little recyclable, clear, plastic carrying case.

With 16 years experience, Shoo Shoos is committed to making the best leather baby shoes available. They are completely manufactured in Cape Town, Africa! They are a worldwide seller, offering sales in over 20 countries. Shoo Shoos has won 3 iParenting Media Awards and has been selected by Mothercare International as a leading leather baby shoe brand. The shoes are all 100% satisfaction guaranteed. There is several different styles ranging from soft leather soles to rubber flexi soles, and newborn shoes in adorable styles! They also carry leather diaper bags and cozy blankets with leather detailing. If you are looking for some quality leather shoes for your baby, I definitely recommend checking out Shoo Shoos!
