We were recently asked to do a review of CollageIt at Mommy Ramblings.

Carolyn’s View:

The software was easy to download and very simple to use.  I would have like to see more customizable features but it easily created collages using my photos and their templates and saved them as jpegs very easily and quickly.  Great for sharing and for making special collages of graduations, birthdays, holidays etc.  The background colors were easily customizable and the photos could be easily cropped to fit in the frames.  This is a super easy tool that almost anyone will just be able to get on and use.

 

 

Molly’s View:

Collageit makes it so easy to make photo collages, first you choose the template you want to start with, then start adding your photos, by dropping them directly into the photo bin, or add them with the button. You can change the layout from portrait to landscape, and choose from a list of colors for the frames, and change the thickness of them. There are a few different options between frames, shadows, background and whatnot. Once you have chosen all the pictures you want to use, you can click the random button to switch around the frame layout to your liking, and it will add your pictures to the collage. By clicking the shuffle button, it will shuffle them around into different frames, you can do this until you find the right picture setup! Or you can switch pictures around manually to your preference. I love that it’s so easy to use and you can make a quick collage without much work! Then you can save it to your computer, or upload the collage directly to Facebook, Flickr, email it or set it as your wallpaper! This is really great for making collages of your kids for their grandparents or loved ones! I take my kids’ yearly photos myself, and now with this program, I can easily make my own baby portrait collages of the photos like the studios do!

National Geographic, All-Terrain Nature Collector & High Sierra Eco Explorer Review & Giveaway!!!

I recently connected with Uncle Milton and had the opportunity to review some toys from their National Geographic Outdoor Explorer Series.  I chose the All -Terrain Nature Collector and the High Sierra Eco Explorer.  These are just perfect for my little guys who love go and find bugs and various critters in the woods, streams and lake near our home.

The All Terrain Nature Collector features grip and go action, snap on collections domes, turnable handles for easy collection, and an explorer activity guide.  My little guys loved the grip and go action and that they cold collect the specimen from a distance and then carefully observe it before releasing it back to its habitat.

The High Sierra Eco Explorer has a bug viewer, searchlight, headlamp, magnifier, soil sifter, recon tool, belt clip and explorer activity guide.  My husband and kids liked that the light connected to the collection container for easy viewing of the specimen.  This set is great because it has a handy belt clip that will let you attach most pieces together and hang from your belt loop.

Vtech, Switch & Go Dinos Review!!!

One thing that is a given with my little boys, is that they love vehicles and dinosaurs. This dinos are packed with great features that my boys just love.  Each dino has over 50 wild sounds and phrases, volume control, sound effect and voice buttons, an LCD screen that allows my boys to customize their toy when it is in dino form or morphed into a dinoriffic vehicle.  I like as a parent that one toy can be switched from a dino to a vehicle and back again.  My boys are having lots of fun with these Switch & Go Dinos and I think they are great when traveling and space is an option because they will have two great toys in the space of one.  The toys are easy to transform and the boys can do it easily and not get frustrated.

Soda Stream Home Soda Maker Review & Fountain Jet Soda Lover’s Start-Up Kit Giveaway!!!

Ever since I first heard of the Soda Stream home soda maker, I knew I had to try it out. So imagine my delight when I was invited to review one, I was ecstatic! I received a Soda Stream Starter kit that included a Genesis home soda maker, reusable carbonator, two soda bottles, a 12 pack assortment of single serve flavors, a 3 pack of My Water Flavor Essence, and a large variety of full size flavor bottles.

The Genesis Soda Stream is really easy to put together, the carbonating bottle screws directly into the housing in the top, then you slip the bottle and top together onto the base, and click into place! It makes for easy changing when your first bottle gets empty! To make soda with the Soda Stream, you just twist the bottle of water over the spout and then press the button on the top, each press releases a burst of carbonation, after a few pushes, the machine will make a buzzing sound that tells you the water is carbonated, pushing the button extra times will give you more carbonation.

I love that the Soda Stream system is so much more convenient than buying and having to get rid of so many cans or bottles of soda. I also like that it gives over 60 flavors to choose from, they are so tasty too, some of them are comparable in taste to the name brand sodas! I have even found that I can add a bit of the carbonated water to grape juice that is a little too sweet to begin with, and I get lightly carbonated, lightly flavored grape juice, I love it! Before I got the Soda Stream, I was disappointed when I wanted cold soda, but had forgotten to put any cans in the fridge, and the soda was warm. The only way to get soda cold quickly is to add ice to it, but then it waters it down. With the Soda Stream, if I forget to put water in the fridge beforehand, I can make some ice water, then strain the cold water into the soda stream bottle, carbonate it, and voila, cold soda without having ice cubes in it to water it down! I found that a bottle of flavored soda can last for 2-3 days in the fridge without losing it’s fizz!

With all of the advantages of a Soda Stream, you really can’t go wrong! You don’t have to stock up on cans upon cans of soda which you will have to dispose of after drinking, Every time you use the Soda Stream to make soda or sparkling water, it decreases the amount of bottles and cans going through the waste system, and reduces our carbon footprint.  There is absolutely no high fructose corn syrup or aspartame in any of their many flavors! Plus you can find refill flavors and carbonating bottles at many of your local stores like Target, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond and many more! Imagine just having to buy one bottle of flavoring that is the equivalent of buying almost three 12 packs of cans! Soda Stream leaves less waste, is better for you and takes up less space, plus it doesn’t use electricity or batteries. My boys are crazy for trucks and vehicles.  A favorite construction truck is the excavator so we were glad to be able to review one of our first choices, Dexter The Digger.   This brightly colored, sturdy excavator has a friction motor that runs with kid power, realistic engine sounds, rattling boulders, pull and push lever to pick up and empty boulders, engine compartment that opens, a WOW push-button feature and more.  This toy is a favorite already and they take turns each night with who gets to keep it in their room.  As a parent I love how sturdy these trucks are, they really can handle lots of hands on play that active boys can dish out and keep coming back for more.

 

 

 

When I was little a few of my favorite toys were camper play sets I had, so when I saw the Casey Camper Van, I was immediately taken back.  I was thrilled to be able to get it for review as well, and my little ones just love it.  My youngest loves that there is a dog who has his own bed, the luggage that fits neatly and securely on the roof rack when it is time to pull up stakes and get on the road again, and find another place to explore.  My 3-year-old loves packing everyone up and pushing the camper with the friction motor throughout the house until they are ready to set up camp again.  This truck has been spending the night in his room so that he can play with it as soon as he wakes up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My boys are very into emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances.  Robin’s Medical Rescue was another truck we were able to review.  The motorized ambulance is named Robin and the helpful paramedic is named Nina.  A mother figure named Pearl and a boy figure named Sandy are also included along with a removable stretcher and wheelchair. The ambulance is so great for creative play and the boys can act out so many situations.  It has a friction motor, sliding side door and sounds, back door ramp for the wheelchair and WOW push button feature, “working” x-ray feature and more.

The Princess Diaries  Film Synopsis:   Mia Thermopolis is the average teenager – sweet, a little geeky and pretty much invisible to everyone with the exception of her mother, best friend Lilly and Lilly’s older brother Michael. Making it through high school without throwing up is a challenge in itself for Mia, so it doesn’t come as welcome news when her estranged grandmother shows up out of the blue and calmly informs her that she is in fact the heir to the throne of a European country called Genovia. Suddenly Mia’s life is thrown into complete overload. She’s being taught about scarves, waves and pears in order to become a perfect princess, she gets a makeover and a tough looking yet sweet bodyguard/limo driver called Joe. Things get out of hand when the media gets a hold of the story and suddenly Mia is thrust into the spotlight in both the newspapers and in school. On top of all that Mia has a choice to make. She must decide by Genovia’s Independence Day Ball whether she longs to relinquish her claim on the throne or to become the princess and heir to the throne and father and grandmother want her to be.

I was thrilled to receive this 3 disc Blu-ray combo 2 movie pack from Disney for review.  The Princess Diaries was one of my daughter’s favorite movies.  To have this set of both movies on Blu-ray is a real treat.  Julie Andrews is just such a spectacular actress and woman and Anne Hathaway is just so funny and sweet in all the little comical complications that come her way.  The great theme of finding out who you really are to make your dream come true is wonderful to share with the whole family.  There are lots of special features like the bloopers and outtakes from “The Princess Diaries” and the royal bloopers from “The Princess Diaries 2.” The behind the scenes featurette, “A New Princess”, 8 deleted scenes with and introduction from Gary Marshall, “The Ultimate Tea Party” with audio commentary by Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, music videos and more.  So sit the family down or maybe have a mommy and daughter night with this double feature that is sure to fill your night with laughter and heartwarming comedy.
