The tempered glass platform is super easy to clean.  The unit comes ready to use right out of the box and even includes the 3 AAA batteries it requires.  You will love the conversion unit button and how easy it is to read the LCD display with the blue backlight.  This scale is so handy for me to have in the kitchen.
