ekobrew Reusable Coffee Filter Review & Give-Away!!! 3 Winners!!!

We love our Keurig brewer, but I have to admit with the way our family goes through K-cups, it does seem like a lot of waste.  I recently connected with ekobrew and they sent me one of their reusable coffee filters to review.  Unlike some of the early reuseable coffee filters for the Keurig, you do not need to remove the filter holder.  It is really simple to use this filter, and what I really like is sometimes you see a flavor of ground coffee you really want to try, but it does not come in a K-cup.  With this filter, you have the option of enjoying any flavor or kind of coffee you want.  It is also great if you are trying to save money and do not want to keep buying disposable K-cups.  Of course if you are trying to go green but still love your Keurig or other single brewing system, this reusable ekobrew filter is a great option for cutting down on waste.

This reusable filter is super easy to use and there is a lot of information on their Website about the different grinds of coffee and other tips to help you brew.  It was simple and quick to rinse out when the coffee was done brewing.  This is a great option if you love your Keurig or other similar brewers but want to save money, waste or both.

The ekobrew reusable coffee filter makes a great stocking stuffer for your favorite coffee lover.  We are adding it to the stocking stuffer section of our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.

Aden + Anais Classic 47″ by 47″ Muslin Swaddling Blankets Review and Give-Away!!!

Swaddling is a great way to get your baby to sleep at night! It is safer than using a blanket, and helps baby feel snug and comfy, it’s like a cuddly blanket hug! The problem with swaddling, is that it is hard to find a blanket that works. The receiving blankets you get from the store just aren’t big enough, and you may get a rogue foot sticking out after you are done wrapping your baby, and big blankets are usually too thick and make your baby uncomfortably warm.

Aden + Anais sent me a set of their muslin swaddling blankets a short time ago, and after inspecting their blankets, I do believe they have found the solution to all of the problems I mentioned above! Their swaddling blankets are huge, 47″ by 47″, more than big enough to swaddle your baby securely. They are also lightweight and breathable, so your baby won’t get too hot, and just thick enough to keep them warm. Aden + Anais’ swaddling blankets are made out of natural muslin material that is so soft, and comes in so many fashion forward prints! They also have organic and bamboo lines of swaddling blankets, as well as a cozy line for cold winter nights, giving you various choices!

I chose the Alpha Bit swaddling 4 pack from their Classic collection and I love the coordinating prints! I also find myself using the swaddling blankets for a nursing cover and just a light blanket to wrap my baby up with while hanging out at home! Not to mention that it works great as an emergency spit-up cleaner as I have had the opportunity to discover. There are easy to understand diagrams right on the box to show you how to swaddle your baby!

Aden + Anais swaddling blankets are really one of a kind, and a must have for any new parents, they really work way better for swaddling than anything I have tried!

The idea for Aden + Anais swaddling blankets was born when founder Raegan Moya-Jones moved from Australia to the US, bringing with her, many native traditions of motherhood. One of those traditions was swaddling in pure cotton muslin, but when she couldn’t find the right blankets for it here in the US, she decided to do something about it!

Mommy Ramblings thinks that Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets make a great gift for your baby, or for a new mother, so we are adding them to our 2011 Holiday Gift guide!!!

I have the privilege to inform all of you Mommy Rambling fans that Aden + Anais is sponsoring a give-away on the blog! One lucky reader will win a their choice of any product from Aden + Anais!! EcoTulips Organic, Pesticide Free Tulip Bulbs Review!!!

Brightwood, VA-based EcoTulips LLC is bringing positive change to the flower bulb industry by offering an alternative to chemically grown bulbs. Organic flower bulbs are grown without toxic pesticides which negatively affect the environment and have been linked to hive collapse in the honey bee population. The US imports approximately 800 million chemical grown bulbs from Holland every year.  EcoTulips’ bulbs let bee’s pollinate without being in danger. “Tulip Man” Jeroen Koeman, co-founder with wife Keriann, began importing the first organic bulbs in 2009. They have also hosted the nations only Organic Tulip Festival the last two Aprils, attracting fans from DC, Maryland and Virginia. Jeroen comes from a long line of tulip growers in the Netherlands.

EcoTulips sent me a lovely selection of organic bulbs to review.  Everything was packaged beautifully and had clear planting directions. My husband, Ethan, Luke and I planted them, and the bulbs were in beautiful condition.  We will need to revisit our planting areas in the Spring for part 2 of this review, but I think we are going to be in for quite a treat of colors.  I love that they are organic and chemical free because we do not use any type of chemicals on our lawn or in our gardens.  The funny thing is last year we had a colony of honeybees that were in a mass on our lawn and we called the local bee keeper and he gladly rehomed them for us.  They were probably very comfortable on our lawn since we do not use any chemical fertilizers or weed killers of any kind. We have learned to embrace the dandelion and have peace of mind that our children and pets can run and play in our yard without being exposed to nasty substances. EcoTulip is the only American source of organic, pesticide free tulip bulbs!!!

I was sent the beautiful Purple Prince Tulip, Tulip Ile de France, Dutch Master Daffodil, Tulip Little Beauty, Tulip Menton , and the Fancy Tulip Finola.  I will be looking forward to Spring even more than usual this coming year.  I cannot wait to see and take pictures of these beautiful flowers.  I am so happy to have found a company that produces high quality, organic, pesticide free flower bulbs.  If you are looking to get some beautiful Spring flower bulbs that are not full of toxic chemicals and are kind to the earth and its inhabitants, check out EcoTulips, your family, the earth and the honeybees will thank you.  Stay tuned for part 2 of this review in the Spring!!!

Keurig MINI Plus Personal Brewing System Review!!!

I was recently sent a red Keurig MINI Plus Brewing System to review.  Our family is no stranger to the Keurig Brewing System and we have been using a Keurig Platinum for going on 2 years now.  We do have the biggest brewer  and it serves us very well with the very large reservoir for the water.  The MINI differs in that you need to put the water in every time you brew, as it only holds enough for your choice of a 6 oz, 8 oz or 10 oz cup.  Right out of the box, it was super easy to set up and the quick start guide will get you brewing in minutes. All you really need to do is make sure all tape and packing materials are removed.  Run through a cycle of just water only to clean the unit.  Then you are ready to brew.  It takes a minute or two to heat the water and then it brews the coffee.  The coffee was nice and hot and it brewed quickly.

I think this MINI unit would be great in a dorm room, RV, home office, for someone who is the only coffee drinker in the house or for small spaces.  I am so used to the large reservoir on our unit, that it seemed like a bit of a pain to have to fill it every time you need to brew a cup.  For a large household with more than one coffee/tea drinker I would definitely recommend going with a large Keurig with the water reservoir, but for one drinker and for small spaces the MINI is a good fit.  The coffee tasted great in the MINI just like my large Keurig and the machine worked well.

This is where you put the water before you brew, You determine the size of the cup brewed by adding water to the rim of the circle of the size you want.

After adding the water put you selected K-cup in the brewer.

Close it and press that brew button.

When the water is hot enough, it will automatically start brewing your coffee.

When the unit is finished brewing open the compartment and remove the used K-cup.

Once the K-cup is removed you can close the compartment until the next time.

Mmmm, now to enjoy your coffee!!!

Mommy Ramblings thinks this MINI Keurig Brewer works great and would recommend it for either small spaces, college dorms, or for the only coffee drinker in a household.  The MINI comes in 3 colors and would make a great gift for the right person this holiday season.   We are adding this to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.
