Tote bags have become one of the most used bags in America. They can be utilized for a multitude of purposes, which explains why they have become so popular. These bags are truly an American Classic. For those looking for convenience and ease of carrying things, the tote bag is often the best suited for the job.
The word tote started to be used back in the mid 1700’s and literally means to carry, with technically unknown origins; originally attested in Virginia. The Oxford English Dictionary questions the popular theory of its origin in a West African language (cf. Kikongo tota “pick up” and Kimbundu tuta “carry, load,” linked to Swahili tuta “pile up, carry”).
Embroidery a form of art that involves decorating a surface, typically fabric, with designs created by using a needle and thread (or yarn) that started out as a form of hand sewing and eventually advanced into a type of machine sewing. The exact origins of embroidery are hard to pinpoint, but there are many early examples that have survived throughout the centuries from ancient Egypt, Northern Europe and the Zhou Dynasty in China. In many cultures throughout history including ancient Persia, India, Japan, Byzantium, medieval and Baroque Europe – embroidery was a sign of high social status and wealth and became a hugely popular art form.

Recently, I was asked to choose a Chef’n product to review. I have to admit, it was hard to chose, after looking at all their great products. Since I love gardening and growing my own herbs, I chose the Herb’n Shear Set. I had never seen an item like this and thought it would be great for chopping up all the fresh herbs we use when cooking.
It came the other day and I could not be happier with it. The quad blade herb chopper makes chopping herbs easy and fun. It feels great in your hand with the nice rubber grip and the included bamboo bowl is great to chop and serve in. You can also use these versatile herb choppers on a regular cutting board. I highly recommend this Herb’n Shear Set if you like to use fresh herbs in your cooking.
So do you think this is a product you would like to have in your kitchen? If so, you will be thrilled to know Chef’n is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings. One lucky blog reader will win their very own Chef’n Herb’n Shear Set. Thank you Chef’n for the review set and for sponsoring this awesome give-away on Mommy Ramblings!!! Open to US and Canadian Residents.

I also am growing my herbs in containers on the deck. Last year I had my basil, parsley, peppermint, spearmint and oregano in the garden but this year I put it in pots. I am still in the process of transplanting the perennial and spreading mint from the garden to the containers because of the rain thwarting my best efforts. The local nursery did not have the zucchini and yellow squash plants in because of the rain, so I will have to try next weekend for them. I did manage to plant a variety of tomatoes like big boys, beefsteak, early girls, cherry, yellow heirloom, and probably at least another variety I am forgetting. I did not plant any hot peppers this year because I did last year and my husband who they were for did not eat them but ate the sweet peppers. So now I have a great variety of sweet peppers like sweet cherry peppers, sweet banana peppers, and a variety of purple, green and red bell peppers. I have purple and white eggplants, cucumbers, butternut squash, jack be littles, Howden pumpkins, blue lake green beans and sugar snap peas.
In the herb department I planted rosemary, cilantro, oregano, sweet mint, peppermint, spearmint, basil, thyme, dill, lavender, Italian parsley, and probably a couple of others that I am forgetting right now.
I am planting rhubarb for the first time this year, and we are starting a variety of grapes as well. We would have everything planted if the rain would stop but we are doing what we can and we are not that behind.
