ASD (Art, Style & Design) Living Apron Review & Give-Away!!! ***Give-Away Closed***

Lisa Wells from ASD Living sent me several aprons to review.  She sent me the Loretta Apron in the cupcake design for me and 2 of the Andy Apron with hooter design for my little sous chefs.  I really love the quality of the aprons and the vintage design of the Loretta Apron makes me feel like June Cleaver.  I like that the aprons have handy pockets and that the Andy Aprons wipe clean as little chefs get very messy and it is nice to just use a damp cloth to clean the apron.  The stretch elastic smocked waist of the Loretta Apron makes it so comfortable and the patter is just too much fun!!!

Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-Ji Book Review & Give-Away!!! ***Closed***

logo

Lee & Low Books sent me Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-Ji to review.  Lee & Low Books is  an independent children’s book publisher focusing on diversity.  It is their company’s mission to meet the need for  stories that all children can identify with and enjoy.

Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-ji

When my four year old son was getting ready to take his afternoon nap in his new bed that my husband and I had just got all together, I thought it would make a good story to read.  I think as parents we should introduce diversity early in our childrens’ lives.  If they know from an early age that people are different, then there will be no big deal and acceptance will be natural.  I think it is important for young children to know people come in different colors, follow different religions and are of different cultures.  I have always had books that showed diversity to my children from the earliest stages, there are many board books in my house that introduce diversity.  When Lee & Low Books suggested this title, I was intrigued.

This book follows a little boy Aneel who is Indian-American.  His grandparents come to  live with him, and his grandfather tells many stories of when he was young.  There is a nice family dynamic in this book where the family works together making a meal from Dada-ji’s youth.  It introduces us to Indian words and foods and shows that even though families may be different cultures there are many things we all have in common.  It is  a delightful story about how when Dada-ji was a young boy he ate Hot, Hot Roti and it made him have supernatural powers where he could tie cobras in a knot and wrestle water buffalo.   Aneel is curious to know if Dada-ji ate the Roti today if he would have the same powers so they set out to find out.

Ethan and I enjoyed the book that was delightful to read and showed the love of a family through generations.

Lee & Low Books is sponsoring a give-away of a brand new copy of Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-Ji for one of Mommy Rambling’s readers.

Nordic Ware Pro Cast Cute Cupcake Pan Review & Give-Away!!! ***Give-Away Closed***

Nordic Ware told me I could choose any product of theirs to review and I chose the Pro Cast Cute Cupcake Pan.   I have to say right upfront, that today was intensely busy for us.  We were putting up a fence, stone wall, and planting a new perennial flower bed.  It is also Memorial Day Weekend and so I was visiting with my Aunt and Uncle and making BBQ corn on the cob to go with the pulled pork my husband cooked all day in the slow cooker.  It was hot and we were tired and if my daughter had not said she was leaving tomorrow, I would not have even attempted the review tonight.  It was nearly 8pm when I started to bake the first cake.  I used a box chocolate cake mix and I was not sure how high to fill the pans, the pan said 6 cups of cake batter.

I filled it almost to the top and it ended up looking like a popover but was easily corrected by just leveling off the excess cake.  After I did that it looked good and it released from the pan so easily and completely.

Then I decided to make another, but fill it less full.  I filled it about half way this time and I still needed to level off some of the cake but not too much.  I made about 10 cupcakes with the leftover batter.    I made my homemade buttercream frosting which I tinted hot pink for the chocolate cupcake and left white for the yellow cupcakes.  I tried piping on the icing with my decorator bag and star tip but with the heat, the buttercream was not setting up right for it.  So plan B was just to ice with an offset spatula.  I attached the top to the bottom of each large cupcake with a layer of icing and then just iced the tops and added some sprinkles.  You can see the size difference due to me using more batter with the chocolate cake.  I think the pan worked great and like I said it released both times very easily and completely.  I used a baking spray to coat the pan and it worked really well.

I think I will attempt this again on a cooler day and the best part is that after I rushed myself nearly to death to get these done, my daughter tells me now she is not leaving until Monday morning.   Oh well, I am sure you get the idea and if they came out this well in a hot rush, you can imagine how nice they can be when you have a little time to devote to them.

Nordic Ware  is sponsoring a give-away of the same pan on Mommy Ramblings.  So one lucky Mommy Ramblings’ reader will win their very own  Nordic Ware Pro Cast Cute Cupcake Pan!!!

ShāToBu is the manufacturer of a revolutionary line of  shapers that are literally a workout you wear.  It is a tummy shaping, muscle toning, calorie burning shaper that is like no other.

 The great staff at

ShāToBu let me choose any shaper I wanted to review, and I chose the

ShāToBu™ – High Waist to Knee Shaper

I really liked this shaper, it was firm yet comfortable and something I could wear all day without feeling uncomfortable.  It was undetectable under my clothes, but its effects were not.  It helped to take care of problem areas like tummy bulges and such that many of us Moms know all too well.  It made me feel great and while I have no tests to tell me if I burned more calories wearing it, I definitely did feel that I very well could have given the resistance bands.  I had more confidence wearing it and I was able to wear it under a multitude of clothing choices and felt better in everything I tried on.  I would definitely recommend this shaper to my friends and readers.

Build A Dream Playhouses sent me a Pop N’ Play Castle to review.  It was up straight out of the box and only needed about 15 seconds to push a couple of flaps down.  My 4 year old was glad to do the exploring.   As you can see from the photos he had a grand time.  This is great because it can be decorated by the kids with markers, crayons or paint.  Makes a great rainy day activity.  It would also be a great activity for a birthday party or play date.  It is constructed well and is very sturdy.  It allows for a lot of imaginary and constructive play.

The Children’s Labels Company Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Diana at The Children’s Labels Company sent me a nice assortment of their products.  She sent me dishwasher safe, waterproof name labels, iron on labels for light and dark fabrics, and the cutest bag tags.  I have to admit when I saw that these were waterproof and would withstand the dishwasher I was skeptical for a few reasons.  The first being, I know labels and water don’t usually mix too well.  Second, which will be no surprise for those who know me, since I am a germophobe, I have a dishwasher that sanitizes everything, with not only the hottest water but steam and heat.  So, when you open my dishwasher the steam that emits is so strong it could strip your wallpaper.

I had just recently picked up some Curious Chef Mugs for the boys at Wegmans (love my Wegmans), so I thought I would use them as my guinea pigs.  I read the instructions and you apply the labels to a clean dry surface and not wash or get it wet for 24 hours.  After the time was up I placed the cups in with the dishes and ran my usual heavy-duty cycle with a high temperature scrub and sanitizing cycle.  They did not stand a chance.  When it was finished and I opened the dishwasher for my facial and the steam just filled the kitchen, I knew it would not be good.  I was shocked to reach in and find the labels as bright and crisp and secure as they were before I put them in their exfoiliating sauna.  A few days ago, we put them on the boys identical excavators.  They have been playing in the dirt and rain with these trucks and the labels are readable and secure.

Now, I am going to set about labeling everything in site.  It is great because we are going on vacation and I can label the kids toys and clothes.  It works really well because we usually buy two of everything for our Irish Twins.  It is also the start of T-ball so I can label Ethan’s bat and batting helmet and mitt so it will not get mixed up with the team equipment.  These labels are great for labeling bottles and sippy cups for daycare, pre-school or the church nursery.  The possibilities are endless.

After the Wash!!!

Now for the best part!!!  The Children’s Labels Company is giving me three certificates for 3 lucky blog readers.  You will be able to get your very own personalized labels with the gift certificate.

Mandatory Entry-Go to The Children’s Labels Company and tell the design you like the most and leave me a comment here with what it is.  You must complete the mandatory entry or the extra entries will not count.
