The Pretty Peacock, Silver, Sweet Fortune Cookie Pendant Review & Giveaway!!! Bonus Exclusive Discount and Free Shipping Code!!!

I recently connected with The Pretty Peacock, and was asked to do a review of their Silver, Sweet Fortune Cookie Pendant.  The idea behind this pendant is that  you write your own wish, dream, or desire on a small slip of paper.  You then carefully fold it up and slide it inside of the cookie. Then you sit back, and watch it all come true.

Each cookie has a gorgeous, ornate pattern embedded into the silver – true to Pretty Peacock style – which creates an elegant piece of unforgettable jewelry! The cookie measures roughly 3/4″ wide and 3/4″ tall (since each are handmade, the size can vary slightly). Each cookie is HAND FORMED just like a real fortune cookie out of 99.9% pure silver (fine silver) and is eco-friendly by nature.  A sterling chain is included and is fully adjustable to 18″.  Each pendant is packaged in a drawstring Pretty Peacock bag with a few slips of paper to get you started.  There is also a card insert included explaining how to use the magic cookie.  Everything is placed inside a cute, little take-out box to complete the ensemble.

This pendant is gorgeous and I love the idea of keeping a special message in it.  I think it would be wonderful to give to a daughter or granddaughter with a special fortune, letting them know how special they are, and how much you love them.  Great when girls are away from home for camp, boarding school, college, and events.  They will always have a message close to their heart that tells them they are loved.

Great gift for bridesmaids, friends, graduates, birthdays, and so much more.  A wonderful way for a daughter to tell her mother she is going to be a grandmother, with a special message tucked inside.  If you are looking for a unique, special and beautiful gift, then check out The Pretty Peacock, Silver Sweet Fortune Cookie Pendant on Sterling Silver Chain.

Exclusive Discount Code:

The Pretty Peacock is giving Mommy Rambling’s blog readers an exclusive discount code to use until Feb 29th for 10% off and free shipping.  The code is: RAMBLINGS2012

Rock N Learn New Letter Sounds DVD Review, Discount Code & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I really love the Rock N Learn DVD Series. Recently, I was given the chance to review their brand new version of the Letter Sounds DVD.  My kids love these DVDs so much that as soon as I open them and they see the package, they want me to put it on.  This DVD is great, my 2 year old’s favorite part is when they show the letter, an object that begins with that letter and then show a mouth making the letter sound.  It is so funny he does it right with them.  My four year old loves the game where they put up sentences and you have to pick the letter you hear the most.  He is very proud of himself because he gets them all right.  The DVD is full of games, songs and fun that teach little ones lots of skills they need for reading.  As always I am impressed with everything that is packed in to this great DVD and how much my kids learn from it.

Learning to read is more fun than ever with this new version of Letter Sounds, Rock ‘N Learn’s best-selling DVD video. Engaging characters and more material help kids learn the skills to become competent readers. After a quick review of upper and lowercase letters, young learners practice the most common sound each letter makes. An on-screen mouth shows how to form the sounds.

Excitement builds as kids race the clock to say letter sounds in silly sentences before hearing the answers. Then, learners play several games to solidify their understanding of letter-sound associations that will help them read and spell. Finally, after learning some common sight words, kids feel successful reading complete sentences and short stories.

For over a decade, Letter Sounds DVD video has been one of Rock ‘N Learn’s most successful programs for helping kids learn to read. It’s been used in classrooms all over the world and by millions of kids at home. We love getting testimonials on how our Letter Sounds video has changed lives by helping kids become competent readers and spellers. During this time, we’ve also received wonderful suggestions on how we could make Letter Sounds even better. Plus, we recently hired university professors, graduate students, and reading specialists in classrooms to offer their suggestions on how we could improve this reading video by incorporating the latest research on what helps students learn to read and spell.

With this latest version of our Letter Sounds DVD video, you’ll find totally new animation, fun characters, an improved soundtrack, and additional content to build reading skills. In focus groups where we tested our new content, kids loved watching regardless of whether they were very young (actually below the intended age) or older and had already developed some reading skills. This was not surprising because the material includes games that offer differentiated instruction to meet individual needs at different levels. In other words, students can participate and have fun even if they are at different stages in learning to read and spell. The multisensory approach of Letter Sounds engages kids, and the variety of activities help students regardless of their preferred learning styles.

Teachers and parents often ask us, “For what age do you recommend Rock ‘N Learn Letter Sounds?” The answer is any age after 2 or 3, depending on the maturity level of the child. We have heard of teachers and parents using Letter Sounds DVD video for teaching phonics to preschoolers with remarkable results. According to the success stories we receive, some children around the age of four have actually learned to read with Letter Sounds. The Letter Sounds video has been used for preschool alphabet activities, teaching basic phonics rules, teaching phonics to preschoolers, phonological awareness activities for preschool children, and phonics for beginners.

We also hear success stories about older students in secondary grades who have used Rock ‘N Learn Letter Sounds in a remedial way to boost reading and spelling skills. Phonics instruction is effective for learning important rules about the structure of words.

Students with learning disabilities in written expression have benefited from beginning phonics instruction through our Letter Sounds programs. We have also heard how students in adult basic education classes are learning to read with Letter Sounds in either audio CD or video format.

Rock ‘N Learn Letter Sounds has helped individuals of all ages learn to speak English. Letter Sounds is often recommended by teachers who specialize in English as a second language (ESL).

Plus, the “on-screen mouth” in Letter Sounds DVD has been a huge hit with speech therapists and speech and language pathologists. We made certain to keep the mouth with this new version. Our original development team included professionals in speech and language to make certain that each common sound of the alphabet was correctly presented.

Please note that Rock ‘N Learn Letter Sounds comes in either a DVD video version or an audio/book version. The audio version does not include all of the new material that we’ve added to the DVD video.

Regardless of how you use Letter Sounds, you will love the results… we guarantee it.

ellaWrap Review & Discount Code!!!

There is just so much to do during the holiday season.  Wrapping gifts is one thing almost all of us have on our lists.  We spend so much time wrapping presents and after the presents are opened we throw bags of it away.  It is very wasteful when you think about it. Recently, I was sent some ellaWraps to review.  With ellaWraps there is no tape, no cutting, no paper, no ribbons and no waste.  It is so easy to just put the gift in the ellaWrap and tie with the attached ribbon.  The ellaWrap can be reused again and again unlike wrapping paper.  Just one ellaWrap, passed along over the years, can preserve our natural resources, while also providing a way to preserve your memories – each ellaWrap comes with a gift journal to record the special memories from each gift-giving occasion.

With lots of great styles there are ellaWraps for every occasion.  ellaWraps come in different sizes and are very well made so they will be able to be used year after year.  I am placing ellaWrap in our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide in the section Products To Help You This Holiday Season.  I was able to put some children’s sunglasses and a stuffed toy in the bag and with a quick tie of the ribbon I was done.  The gift looked cute and festive and the best thing is that the wrap does not wind up in the trash.  If you are looking to reduce your carbon footprint, then take a look at the ellaWrap.

ellaWrap is giving Mommy Rambling’s readers an exclusive discount code of EW26 that will discount 10% off a buyer’s total order at www.ecowrap.com. The code is active until Friday, November 11th.

39DollarGlasses.com Review, Give-Away & Discount Code!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I was recently asked to do a review for 39DollarGlasses.com.  I don’t wear glasses, but my husband does.  My husband wears contacts during the day but switches to glasses in the evening.  He complicates things even more, by having an astigmatism and wearing Transitions Lenses.  When he gets his glasses through our eye doctor, it is quite a hefty bill, so we were intrigued to see how 39DollarGlasses.com would fare.  We ordered the first pair, but when we got them he felt a bit dizzy because the frame and thus the lenses were small and so with the Transitions Lenses, it was not great.  No problem though, 39DollarGlasses.com has a worry free guarantee.  They took that pair back and we ordered a larger frame and received it promptly.  These glasses were much better and I no longer have dizzy husband.  The quality is good and there is a wide selection of frame styles and colors to choose from.

The company is owned and operated by 2 eye doctors.
*They are totally AMERICAN made (all others get their glasses made in China) so their quality control is superior.
* Fast turn-around time and (if you have an emergency) they do offer next day glasses for a little extra.
They ship FREE to all of our active service men and women no matter where they are serving!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         And as for their kid’s glasses:

*They use only shatter-proof polycarbonate lenses with UV protection and scratch resistant coverings on ALL kids glasses.
* Polycarbonate lenses are the #1 recommended lens for kids by all doctors.
* Since the owners are both eye doctors (and fathers themselves) they know the importance of protecting children’s eyes.
* All other eyeglass companies make you pay extra for this protection and if you don’t know enough to ask for it you are putting your child’s eyes at risk.
39DollarGlasses is NOT willing to allow any child have anything less than shatter proof glasses.
* EVERYTHING they make (kids and adults) is made here in the USA. Their quality and durability standards are more stringent than non-USA laboratories.
* They also understand that children can be finicky when wanting a style of glasses. That is why we have a huge selection of stylish frames to make most kids happy!

I am happy to let you know that 39DollarGlasses.com is sponsoring a give-away and discount code to Mommy Rambling’s readers.  One lucky blog reader will receive one pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses (up to $75.00).  The discount code is RAMBLE and will get you 10% off your order.  Thank you 39DollarGlasses.com for the review glasses and for sponsoring this great give-away and discount code.  Open to US and Canadian Residents.

FANSHOES Womens and Childrens Rain Boots Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I was asked to review some rain boots from FANSHOES recently.  I chose the Georgetown Scattered Hoya Boot for my rain boots and the Scattered Virginia Tech kids boot for my four year old.  When they arrived he put them on and went stomping out in the yard.  They are super for rain and mud and are waterproof and clean up very easily.  His 2 year old brother loved them so much he took them to bed with him that night, he did not care that they were too big for him.  I love my FANSHOES rain boots.  I wear a size 11 and many rain boots only go up to a 10 so I was thrilled to find size 11 and they fit so great and are comfortable with the microfiber insole.  They are comfortable and waterproof, great for rain and garden mud.  We love these boots.  Check out FANSHOES great blog here.

I have some great news if you think these rain boots by FANSHOES are great.  They have given me a promo code for my readers to get $10.00 off each pair of rain boots purchased.  Just use promo code momma when placing your order.  Code is valid August 1-31.  The other great news, is that FANSHOES is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win their choice (if available) of kids or womens’ rain boots.  Thank you FANSHOES the review boots and for sponsoring this awesome give-away on Mommy Ramblings.

DabbaWalla Go Fetch Back Pack Review & Discount Code!!!

Inspired by the legendary system of dabbawallas delivering homemade lunch to thousand of office workers in India, Dabbawalla Bags continues the tradition with a fun, functional way to tote lunch and gear for little adventurers on the go. Whether toting lunch to school, snacks for a play date or gear for an overnight adventure, kids and kids at heart are sure to fall in love with one of our 3 styles.

I was so happy to be able to connect with DabbaWalla recently.  When they told me to choose a product to review, I had a hard time deciding as they have so many great styles of lunch bags and back packs to choose from.  I finally chose the Go Fetch back pack.  This back pack is so cute and is made of a neoprene-like fabric that cushions, protects and insulates. Inside adjustable straps grow with the child or can be pulled tight when carrying as a tote, using the sturdy handle. Two inside mesh pockets provide a convenient way to stash and separate gear.  The material this back pack is made of reminds me of a wet suit and I love that it is machine washable.  The size is great for pre-school, kindergarten, play dates, overnights and travel.  The colors are bright and the design is adorable.   This is a very durable back pack that will stand up to the rough and tumble paces our little ones put their stuff through.

If you love these bags you will be happy to know that DabbaWalla is offering a special  20% discount code MR2011.  It works on all items except the outlet bags, but it does work on sale items.  The code is valid through August 15th and through the end of June there is free shipping so a great deal can be had.
