Babies and kids grow so fast, they hardly have time to wear most of their expensive and adorable outfits more than a few times. Many times brand new outfits are outgrown before they are even worn. I know most people buy gifts for a new baby in small sizes, so parents have so many outfits and such a short amount of time before they are outgrown. No matter how hard I tried there were always brand new outfits never worn and a baby that no longer fit in that size. Now there is a solution for all of this and more!
Moxie Jean is an online “upscale resale” store started by 2 moms, Sharon Schneider and Sandra Pinter, who are also sisters. Moxie Jean only sells new or “like new” clothing. You will find phenomenal name brands and styles at a fraction of what they cost new. Everything comes with their 100% satisfaction guarantee. Sizes for kids range from newborn to size 14. You can get an additional 20% off your order when you sign up for their inventory alerts with your email. The site is so easy to navigate, you choose girl or boy and size and then you can choose from several filters to narrow down their expansive selection. Every Monday and Thursday they get new inventory and you can shop new markdowns and clearance too for even greater savings. I was very impressed and have ordered 2 times from them so far and believe me will again many times over.
They have clothing, shoes and accessories and have recently added maternity clothing to their inventory. Check them out, but hurry if you like something, at these prices things go fast! Don’t hesitate if you see something you love for your child or yourself.
When your child has outgrown his or her clothing you can request a Moxie Jean Mailer Bag and send them back as well as add any other gently used or new clothing and they will be put on the site for sale. When they sell you will receive a percentage of the purchase price. Unsold clothing is donated to charity. Shopping at Moxie Jean is a way to save time, money and the planet without sacrificing style. Moxie Jean is resale reimagined.
I hope you will check them out and let me know what you think. Would love to hear about your great finds too so just drop a note in the comments. Happy shopping!

Silicone pregnancy bellies are available on eBay, etsy and online everywhere and they are so affordable! Now, there are some things to look out for and I guess you could say, you do get what you pay for. No one wants to be like the woman in China who wore her faux belly to get a seat on the train, it was working well until the ties securing it failed and her prego tummy dropped on the floor of the bus. The woman is going after the fake belly manufacturer claiming it was inferior quality for what she paid and that its failure caused her to be mocked and ridiculed by the other passengers.
There is also another reason people don these bellies and it’s because they’re “reborn pregnant“. Wait, they’re what??? Oh, reborn pregnant, and it has nothing to do with handing their life over to Jesus. Reborns are the name of dolls that are painted to resemble real babies and children.
These dolls can range from a few hundred dollars to over $10,000 and many are understandably put on layaway until their new mommy pays them off. During that time, a reborn mom-to-be is said to be reborn pregnant or reborn expecting. These fake baby bumps have added another level of realism to the women who mother these babies just like one would a real infant.
Whether you are looking for a faux belly to get your pregnancy fix sans 2 am feedings, for a guaranteed seat on the bus, extra attention or because you are reborn pregnant, make sure you get a quality belly. You don’t want to be picking your baby bump off the floor of the bus while the other passengers laugh and call you a faker.

Anyway with all this gunk going around I think it is wise we talk about RSV. Do you know what RSV is? RSV stands for Respiratory Syncytial Virus which is a seasonal virus that is prevalent from November through March, is highly contagious and affects 2/3rds of children by one year of age and nearly 100% of kids by 2 years of age. RSV can live on surfaces like counter tops, bedding, doorknobs, toys and more for several hours and is spread easily through touching, kissing and hugging. Children in daycare are at very high risk of contracting RSV due to all the sharing of toys, high chairs, eating and sleeping in close quarters.
RSV causes mild to moderate cold like symptoms in most children that will run the course without causing parents to be alarmed. However in premature infants, contracting RSV can be extremely serious. Once contracted there is no treatment for RSV so prevention is key. RSV is the leading cause of infant hospitalization and responsible for up to 125,000 hospitalizations and 500 deaths each year. Parents of babies who are high risk for RSV should consider other options than day care like in home care or a nanny where they will not be exposed to risk factors prevalent in a day care situation. Care should be taken to keep things clean and sanitary and frequent hand washing to prevent the spread of any illness including RSV. For more information on RSV, you can click HERE for an informative fact sheet.
I remember when Luke was born, even though he was full term and just shy of 8lbs he lost a lot of weight and at 5 days when he was admitted to pediatrics for his jaundice, he was only a bit over 5 lbs and at high risk for RSV since it was the very end of December. I was a wreck having him there but we had no choice because his levels were so high the pediatrician would not let us treat at home. I was a maniac making sure everyone knew we had a tiny newborn and for all the nurses and hospital staff to wash their hands before touching anything in the room. My husband or myself were always present and chose to take care of nearly every task regarding our baby rather than having nurses or staff tend to him. Thankfully, we got our little guy home safe and healthy but it was scary thinking of the danger. I believe there were a couple of children that were on the ward with RSV which freaked me out.
Since prevention is the best course of action, it is imperative to follow good hygienic practices and wash hands thoroughly, clean toys and surfaces to keep germs to a minimum and limit visitors and of course do not let anyone will cold like symptoms around premature or newborn babies. To learn more please visit RSVProtection.com. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Good Luck Everyone!!!
Alexandra is still working in Potsdam but will be home next month!!! We miss her and she misses us! Ray had a meeting with the Navy recruiter and all went well, he took Michael with him because Michael wants to join as soon as he graduates this year. Ethan and Luke are having a good time as usual. Ethan is a great big brother to Luke. He tries to teach him the right way to eat with his utensils, play basketball and other things. He is always encouraging with a “Good Job Luke” even when he is less than successful in shooting a basket. Of course they still have their moments of bickering but it is better for the most part. Ethan is understanding that Luke is getting very wise and the idea of giving him a rock or a stick in trade for something like a tractor is not going to cut it anymore. He is also pretty receptive if Luke cries, he will say “Come on Luke, stop crying.” So for the most part he is a loving brother but there is still the occasional body tackle.
Jimi and I are very busy with the laser business and it is very time-consuming but we are so grateful for the opportunity we have to do something like this. Jimi had his birthday on September 15th. I made him a yellow cake with my signature dark chocolate buttercream icing and it was delicious!!!
I am missing the garden as it is past its season. I loved going out and having the inspiration for a zucchini, eggplant, tomato pasta right there in front of me. Oh well that is the chain of life and we will start planning for next year. I hope the winter is not too bad in terms of ice. Ice is the worst, no one can drive on it no matter if you have 8 wheel drive. I have a good start on Luke’s birthday presents, and not too bad of a start on both little one’s Christmas presents. I even have some stuff for Alexandra already.
Jimi and I and the little boys had a nice outing at local horse farm a couple of weeks ago. We went on a tractor pulled hay ride the boys just loved. They also had their first pony ride which was a huge hit. Luke is starting to talk more in sentences and is such a character, he loves saying things like, “Look, see the tractor!” He is really developing his personality. Ethan is having a great time as usual and enjoying playing sports and with his tractors and trucks. He loves phonics DVDs and I am going to start working on some preschool reading, phonics and math with him. He likes counting things but is that any wonder?
The boys are monkeys for Halloween, in fact the Halloween photo cards just came in the mail today and they are so cute. I hope it is a nice day on Halloween and not a deep freeze. I think Ethan will get a real kick out of it this year. Last year Jimi and I took them out shopping in their costumes, they were still too little to really understand. This year I know Ethan will have a blast.
Well, I better sign off for now as I have a thousand and one things to do. Hope everyone is having a wonderful, blessed Autumn!!! God Bless!!!
We have also made a couple of trips to the Old Cochecton Train Station. One time with just Jimi and I and then two little babes and another with the entire family. We had a great time on both occasions. We also got some great pics that will make great prints on my new gallery wall I am creating in the family room. I could not believe how much fun even the biggest boys had at the tracks, throwing rocks and goofing around. Good family fun!!!
After the family train trip, Alexandra and I got to head off on a girls’ night out. She was home for the weekend before moving up to Potsdam for a new position in the political arena. She will be there until the end of November so we had to do some major shopping and then a nice dinner at Cracker Barrel in Binghamton for some good southern comfort food to ease the fears of relocation. She will do fine though and she knows it and we are all so proud of her.
Throw in there the lake picnic of which Jimi is the new vice president of the Lake Owners’ Association, swimming, walking, dog issues, gardening, oh what a garden we have!!!
Well let me post some pictures of some of the things mentioned and I will try to visit my blog on a more regular basis. Enjoy the Summer while it lasts!!!
