My Sibling & My Pal Doll For Going Green Review and Giveaway!!!

My Sibling & My Pal Dolls

I recently had the opportunity to review a My Pal 18″ doll. I chose the blonde haired, blue eyed Going Green doll for my nieces, because their coloring is similar and I thought they would like their new little sister to look like them! The doll has a soft body, with moveable, poseable, plastic arms and legs. Her face is detailed with a slight smile and pretty little eyelashes on her blue eyes that close when you lay her down. Her long hair has a healthy looking shine to it and is easy to brush out and style with braids, or pigtails.

My Pal’s Going Green Doll outfit is made completely in the USA, recycled from adult clothing, and re-sewn into doll clothes! Her outfit is a cute neutral style, a green t-shirt with a beige skirt, a matching headband and a cute plaid handbag. They are well made, and easy to take on and off for little girls who love dressing their dolls! Her sandals are made of recycled cardboard and covered in fabric, they are so unique and give her an earthy vibe. My niece was captivated by her new friend, and couldn’t wait to have her in her arms. I think she was pretty tickled that the doll looked like her, with blonde hair and blue-green eyes!

My Pal for Going Green doll’s mission is to help raise awareness about caring for the environment. She came with a little booklet that suggests websites and books and provides her new friends with information on going green. There are also blank pages to encourage your child to write their own story on what they have done, or are planning to do for the environment. The booklet is printed on 100% recycled paper!

My Pal also make a boy version of their Going Green Doll.

Handsome 18″ boy doll with blonde hair, blue eyes and light skin has soft body and poseable plastic head, arms and legs. Hair is rooted..

  • khaki shorts and t shirt made from re-used materials
  • matching sandals
  • recycling totebag FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY – NOT TO PLAY WITH

My Sibling/My Pal has dolls and plush toys to help kids understand how children with disabilities like autism, socialize and develop differently. Others have their own humanitarian causes to promote like My Pal for Peace and My pal the Patriot. Each doll comes with their own booklet to help explain why their cause is relevant in a kid-friendly way.

My Sibling/ My Pal provides work experience for teens and adults with disabilities with their Work Experience Program. By giving them the opportunity to help assemble, dress and package their dolls and other products, My Sibling/ My Pal is helping these students and adults get the skills they need to eventually find employment where they otherwise may not have been eligible for. My Sibling/My Pal reaches out to public and private schools and adult programs, who wish for their students and adult workers to get real job experiences.

My Sibling/My Pal is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings. One lucky blog reader will win their choice of the boy or girl My Pal For Going Green Doll. Thank you My Sibling/My Pal for this fantastic review doll and for sponsoring this great giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

 Our Views:

I was sent a pair of pediped flex shoes for my four-year old son. The style we received was the Flex Hayden in Navy/Red. When pediped says flex, they mean flex. These are extremely flexible shoes and after he tried them on, I really could not keep him still.  He told me they were great shoes for running and then quickly demonstrated his incredible speed with them.  They are quality constructed and the Velcro closures make it easy to get a snug fit and lets kids who cannot tie laces yet, get their shoes on and fastened, which is a great help to mom and dad on mornings when we are running late for preschool.  The shoes light athletic style is perfect for spring and summer.  The shoes have a suede upper, all natural rubber sole, and features the Flex Fit System, which allows children to adjust the fit of their shoes and prolong the length of wear.  These shoes have the approval of the American Podiatric Medical Association for promoting healthy foot development.

Does “Green” mean what you think it does?

Toxic Clean???

I want to share something with you that I have been thinking about for a while now. I think we are all aware of the movement in recent years to “go green.” However, I don’t think as consumers we are as aware as we should be and take many things at face value. You may be wondering, what I mean? Let’s talk about cleaners that are marketed as “green,” do you really know what that means? Do you go to the supermarket and see the new cleaners packaged with flowers on the label and called “green something”, toss it in your cart and think you are doing something good for your family and the environment? I did. I used to, if it said it was “green”, “eco-friendly”, “plant based”, I was all for it. Then, I would take my products home and feel good that I was not using harmful cleaning agents.

If you take a look at the commercials that market household products to us like laundry detergent, they will usually be focused on the smell, and how even after 7 days, the smell is still as strong or how they have fabric softeners added right in, so you will never forget. Then, we are told to control static cling by adding a dryer sheet to our clothing in the clothes dryer. It is easy to get wrapped up in the scents of detergents; don’t you want to go to sleep with your blanket as soft as a cloud and smelling like lavender? What we don’t hear about is, the nasty side of all this. The chemicals that are in these products, the toxins that we are cleaning our family’s clothing with, the dryer sheets that are filled with toxic chemicals that we throw in and then heat our dryer up to make sure we release every bit of it onto our clothing. Clothing we wear on our skin, the largest organ that is just absorbing these toxins in.

When we think about the ugly side, it is no wonder that incidents of childhood cancers, infertility, premature menses, autism, ADHD, and other cancers are rising dramatically. Cancers that have no hereditary links, but are due to environmental factors. I know this too well, our teenage son was diagnosed last June with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We have no risk factors, so if you ask me if I believe that environment and the agents we are exposed to are causing us harm, I think you know what my answer is.

The problem is that most of the time when we go about putting our homes on a detox, that the very products we are replacing them with, are as toxic or more toxic then what we were using. How can that be? Do you know what it takes for a cleaning agent to be deemed “green”? Did you know that a product can be marketed as “green” if it is biodegradable? Are you are using products that are so strong they have warnings on them, not to inhale, only use in ventilated area, harmful to people and pets, may cause eye and skin irritation etc? Do you think these products could be healthy for your family?

I find it amazing that we are marketed wipes and sprays that are said to kill the germs like the rhinovirus and influenza and we are advised to spray all the surfaces in our home, doorknobs, telephones, hard surfaces and the air. Did you know that these very wipes and sprays are not to be inhaled or ingested? Yet, we spray the surfaces we will surely be touching and we are spraying it in the air we are sure to be breathing. Okay, so you may be thinking that you don’t use any of those germicide sprays, you only use air fresheners with pleasing scents like cinnamon and vanilla. You may want to take a look at the back of your air freshener, plug-ins, scented candles, and linen sprays. Very likely, you will find that you should not be breathing these agents in. Why then are we told they are room sprays, air fresheners, room deodorizers when we are not to be breathing them in? Why in the world are we spraying these in our homes and making our air quality unhealthy to breathe?

Then, we can talk about beauty products, skin creams, cosmetics, scrubs, shampoos, baby products which have come under much scrutiny lately for containing chemicals and toxins. A major name in baby care products that we trusted for generations, was found to have 2 cancer causing chemicals in their baby shampoo and products. So you might think that once this was discovered, the FDA ordered all of the products off the store shelves. That is not the case and the company is gradually phasing the use of these chemicals out of their baby products and I believe they plan to have this done sometime in the next 2 years.

Again, there we are, trusting consumers, once again being sold “gentle” products with known carcinogens that we are applying to our most precious little lives. Scary isn’t it? What can we do? It seems we are misled, we can’t believe labels, and we have to be skeptical. Are you still using these products? Is the cabinet under your sink filled with chemical cleaning agents with safety caps, and warnings? If you are truly interested in detoxing your home, and getting rid of the harmful agents, please contact me. You might be thinking that you cannot find products that will do what you need them to do and are natural. I can tell you, that you can. I can show you products that will work as well as chlorine bleach, products that will kill germs and sanitize without putting your family at risk. Products that you will be on average less than the products you are buying in the grocery store. Products that will give you some peace of mind. If you have any questions, please contact me as I would love to help you. It is almost time for Spring Cleaning!!!

My Favorite Episode of Season 1 of “Paul The Male Matchmaker”

I recently shared with you a great new series called, “Paul The Male Matchmaker” that you can view here on Hulu.com.  I really enjoyed the entire first series, but one of my favorite episodes is the 2nd episode, “Know When You’re Not Ready.”  My absolute favorite part of this episode is when Jillian, a woman who recently broke up with her boyfriend, comes to Paul because she is ready to get back into dating.  Paul asks her if her boyfriend would take her back.  Jillian tells him that her ex was not right for her, and it is important that she move on, but he continues asking her if she were to beg him, would he take her back?  This first scene is so funny to me.

Paul is such a bumbling matchmaker who has no idea what he is doing, and his goofiness is hysterical.  He is constantly giving the women the wrong advice and making them do all kinds of crazy exercises, like telling Jillian there are not a lot of guys left for her to mess up on, so he makes her go on a date with a dummy.  I don’t know, I just find this series amusing because Paul is just a guy without a clue who inherited this matchmaking business from his aunt.  The things he says and tells the women to do, are just absolutely crazy.  If you are looking for a laugh, view a few of these episodes.  There are a few episodes with some (very little) adult language, so you will not want to have your young ones around.  Let me know what you think if you do tune in, by leaving me a comment on this post.  I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

I have been hired by Warner Bros WBWord division to raise awareness for Paul the Male Matchmaker.

We recently connected with Funkoos Organic Baby Apparel, and had the chance to review one of their organic baby shirts! I received the Trucks Short-Sleeve Organic Bodysuit. Softbums, Echo Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway!!!

I recently had the opportunity to review a SoftBums, Echo shell, Super DryTouch pod soaker and Mini DryTouch Pod. I was intrigued to find that this one size diaper uses Slide2Size drawstring toggles on their leg elastic instead of rise snaps. Just like a toggle drawstring on a sweater, you pinch the toggle and slide it up the elastic until you get the perfect size, The toggle grips the elastic well and doesn’t slip. I know some peope have an issue with their babies legs being too small for the elastic, causing leaks, or too legs too chubby that end up getting big red marks from tight elastic, they have trouble finding diapers that fit! The SoftBums Echo diaper would be perfect for those petite and chubby babies! It has smooth waterproof outter fabric and soft cuddly microfleece inner material, their DryTouch pod soakers are made of super absorbant microfiber with the soft microfleece lining it to protect baby’s sensitive skin and keep it dry. It is also extra long so you just fold it under a smaller baby to fit, plus giving extra absorbancy, or just leave it longer to fit a bigger child! I also got a DryTouch Mini pod that can be used for smaller babies without the extra bulk, and they work great as an extra soaker!

I was excited to try it out and admittedly tried it on my baby for size before putting it in the wash. Thanks to the Slide2Size elastic, the Echo diaper fit my 13 month old perfectly, and I was pleased to find that this diaper also fit my 2-year-old just fine by adjusting the elastic and extra long soaker! It felt very light and trim on both of them, and I loved how it wasn’t too bulky in the front like some one size diapers can be with their front adjustment snaps. The two weeks I’ve used the Echo diaper and insert, I have not had any leaks, it can hold a lot of liquid with no problems!
Softbums Echo diaper comes in nine great colors, with prints coming soon! Another great diaper they sell is the Omni, which is a three in one! SoftBums also offers package deals that outfit you with as many shells and soakers you need for a couple of days, as well as trial packs that give you a couple diapers to try out before making a big commitment on the larger stash.

I am happy to announce that SoftBums is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings! One lucky blog reader will win an Echo shell in their choice of color and DryTouch Pod! Thank you SoftBums for this awesome review diaper and giveaway!!! Open to US residents only.

The Monster Eater Kit Review and Giveaway!!!

The Monster Eater Kit

I am in my third decade of being a parent.  With five kids from toddlers to young adults, there is one issue that I have heard from countless parents.  That issue is monsters.  My kids are a bit different because they never went through that. While I know my youngest 2 are still very little, and it could become an issue, right now they have no fear of monsters and think they are funny.  What is not funny, is the stories of interrupted sleep, tears and terror that little ones and their parents experience when there is an issue of monsters.

Over the years, I have heard about filling a spray bottle with water, adding some glitter and telling the child it was a special spray of monster repellent.  Well, one mom took that idea a bit further when trying to get her daughter through her fear of monsters in her room.  Seeing the fear in her daughter, she knew that other kids may be facing the same fear, and she wanted to help.  The Monster Eater Kit includes The Monster Eater’s Battle Under the Bed book, by Wendy Lasater, Einar-The monster eater plush doll and the Monster Eater monster repellent spray bottle.  There is a special T-Shirt that will be included in the first 200 kits, that will remind a child to be brave.

Many children discover they have a monster in their room and are afraid to go to sleep.  Unfortunately, adults have a hard time seeing the monsters to help make them go away.  Now there is help! Join Sophia as she gets help from the brave Monster Eater to get rid of the monster lurking under her bed.  After the battle, Sophia discovers a magical secret to conquering monsters forever! 23 pages, fully illustrated by Nick and Sheri Gillett. Book size is 12 inches wide x 9 inches tall – a great size for smaller hands.

Plush Einar  is designed to be scary to the monsters yet nice to all children.  He was designed to provide that little extra comfort to children in knowing they can snuggle up to the hero who will defeat any monster in their room (and maybe fall asleep a bit faster too!)  Einar is approximately 15 inches tall and stuffed just right to be extra cuddly.  He is featured throughout the book and helps bring the story to life for kids. NOT recommended for children under 3.

If your child needs that little extra feeling of really making the monsters go away when they are lurking about, this special weapon is the tool!  Just fill with water and equip your child with the added bravery that whenever a monster is sprayed, the monster will magically disappear! NOT recommended for children under 3.
Let your child proudly show the world they are BRAVE by wearing an Einar Tee Shirt!  Each shirt is 100% pre-shrunk cotton jersey.  Kids really love wearing these cool shirts! Why not top it all off, since you’re at it?!

This is a great kit that has everything you need to ease your child’s fears and help everyone get the rest they need.  If your child is having an issue with monsters, visit www.themonstereater.com.

Scarves Dot Net, Finley Loop Scarf Review and $20 Gift Certificate Giveaway!!!

You may remember in the past we did a review of a scarf and had a giveaway for a company called Affordable Scarves.  Well, Affordable Scarves has a new name and is now, Scarves Dot Net.  I recently had the opportunity to choose a scarf to review.  I chose the Finley Loop Scarf in olive-green, but when it arrived it was hunter green.  I emailed customer service and immediately they emailed me a postage paid label to return the scarf and sent me out the correct color.  Their customer service was great, no hassles, great service and fast shipment of the right scarf.

When the correct scarf arrived I was impressed with the size and quality.  My daughter is the scarf person and always tells me I should use them to accessorize, but I often feel inadequate when deciding how to wear them, how to tie them and what to wear them with.  I love them when other people have them on, but I used to feel like I just didn’t know how to pull it all together.  Well, Scarves Dot Net makes it easy to find the right scarf and shows you how to wear them, they even have a blog with lots of ideas.  That kind of stuff is so helpful to me as I used to be very intimidated around scarves.  With the help of their site and their blog it is so much easier than just choosing a scarf off a rack in a store because I can easily see great ways to wear it.  Great quality, excellent prices, huge selection and great customer service makes Scarves Dot Net, the place to shop for scarves.  Check out their great selection of Spring Scarves!

Finley Loop Scarf

Spruce up your boring winter coat with our Finley Loop Scarf! This cozy warm solid scarf has a thick cable knit weave in an easy-to-use loop scarf design. Available in hunter and olive-green.
