School Zone, Start To Read! Early Reading Program, Level 2 Readers Review & Give-Away!!!

I was recently sent the School Zone, Start To Read! Early Reading Program, Level 2 to review.  This great kit includes 5 beginning reader books, 1 comprehension book, 1 read-along & songs CD and 1 parent guide.  This is a 3 step reading program for ages 5-7.  The first step of the program is to have your child listen to the stories on the CD and follow along in the books.  Audio cues signal when to turn the pages.  The second step is to encourage your child to read the stories aloud.  Your child’s excitement grows with their progress, independence and success.  The third step is to help your child review the stories with the companion comprehension pages.

My 4-year-old is shy of the recommended age but he still wanted to try this.  The stories are really fun and easy for children to follow along.  School Zone makes reading programs in a variety of age levels.  Mommy Ramblings thinks this Start To Read Program would make a great gift for the young children on your holiday list, so we are adding it to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.

Is your child ready for the next step in reading? Move up to Level 2 in the Start to Read! Early Reading Program. This collection continues to build the foundation your preschooler or first grader needs to experience reading success in school. This set contains:

5 Beginning Readers present
charming stories with beginning vocabulary
1 Read-Along & Songs CD includes
all 5 stories (narrated) and 10 original songs
1 Comprehension Workbook corresponds
to the 5 stories to test and reinforce reading skills
1 Parent Guide offers tips and ideas for following
a 3-step approach: listen, read and review

The stories in the readers are fun, easy to follow, and colorfully illustrated. Repetition, rhyming words, and short sentences introduce and reinforce essential language and listening skills. Each story has one track on the CD dedicated to uninterrupted reading and another narrated track, with turn-the-page signals to help your child follow along in the book. The CD also has 10, fun-to-memorize songs that make bedtime, bathtime, or anytime more playful.

A comprehension workbook provides additional activities and extra practice of newly learned skills, while testing your child’s understanding of each story. A Parent Guide offers tips and ideas for you to enhance and support his or her reading progress. Originally developed by educator and School Zone co-founder Dr. James Hoffman, the updated sequence-based series, which consists of storybooks and complementary materials across three progressive reading levels, is designed to build a solid literary foundation for any child while teaching kids that reading is fun. Aussie Dogs, Rena Boot Review & Give-Away on Mommy Ramblings!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I was recently asked to select a pair of boots to review from Aussie Dogs.  I needed some Winter boots with good traction that were tall and warm, so when I saw the Rena, I knew those were the ones. They were quickly shipped and are so unbelievably comfortable.  I am looking forward to Winter coming so I can wear them.  They fit perfectly, I am an 11 and the 10-11 size fits great, I was afraid they would be small, but it is not the case.  I believe they are the most comfortable and warm boots I have ever worn.

Tall boot with 100% sheepskin upper, suede vamp and rugged rubber sole. Wraparound buckles and a durable treaded outsole give the cozy Rena boot both urban-inspired style and a performance edge. Its suede upper and shearling lining still offer the warmth and comfort you’ve come to expect from Aussie Dogs, but you can take this pair through sand, slush, and snow without losing your cool or your secure footing.

Aussie Dogs has been in business since 1989 when Chris Watt visited Australia and saw a very basic sheepskin boot and decided he could do better. Chris added a toe piece to the front of the boot, and Aussie Dogs was created. Since that time, top quality and great customer service have been what separates Aussie Dogs from the rest of the sheepskin pack. All Aussie dog products are made with superior Australian sheepskin and fitted styling, making Aussie Dogs your number one choice in a sheepskin product. Aussie Dogs sheepskin footwear is the oldest continuously owned sheepskin company in the United States.

Mommy Ramblings has picked Aussie Dogs for our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.

I have wonderful news, Aussie Dogs is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings!  One lucky blog reader will win their choice of boots subject to availability.  Thank you Aussie Dogs for the review boots and for sponsoring this awesome give-away on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

Rock N Learn, “Colors, Shapes & Counting” DVD Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I am back again with another Rock N Learn DVD review.  I was recently sent, “Colors, Shapes & Counting” DVD from Rock N Learn for review.  I knew my 2-year-old would love it because he is so into his shapes, colors and counting, but I was really happy to see that it includes advanced concepts for gifted learners, so my 4-year-old was glued to it and learning how ellipses differ from ovals and other advanced concepts.  Rollie Roundman, Trollie Triangle and Rockford Rectangle take your child on a learning adventure full of great songs and games.  Children will be so captivated by the action-packed animation and fun songs, they’ll want to watch and play along over and over again! Even gifted learners will be challenged by the advanced concepts.  My boys just love the Rock N Learn DVDs and ask to watch them all the time.  It is so nice that such educational DVDs are so fun for kids to watch and play along with.

I am selecting this Rock N Learn DVD for our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide because it is a great gift for the little one’s on your list.

Organic Peeled Snacks Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I was recently sent an assortment of real fruit snacks from Peeled to review.  Peeled Snacks knows that food starts out delicious and nutritious, and it doesn’t need some machine to improve it, or engineering to perfect it. They bring you food that’s as close to its natural state as possible. So make snacking a satisfying part of your lifestyle by eating food as it was meant to be: peeled.  I was very glad to try this gently-dried fruit.  It is so hard to find dried fruit without additives of some kind.  Peeled Snack’s ingredients are simple, just the fruit.  For example, one of my favorite flavors is the much-ado-about-mango and the ingredient is organic mangos, that’s it.  They taste delicious and are bursting with flavor.  The have lots of great flavors and mixed bags and are perfect for good nutritious snacks on the run. As a mom I am always running and so are my kids, these snacks can be kept in your purse or diaper bag and ready when hunger strikes.

Peeled Snacks are now available in Starbucks throughout the US and Canada.  Because we are entering the holiday season where we are even more busy than usual, I am placing Peeled Snacks on our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide under the section; Products to Pamper Yourself and Your Family This Holiday Season.  These healthy and nutritious snacks will keep you energized and properly nourished while you are zipping around being an elf.

Peeled Snacks is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win an Organic Fruit Picks Variety Pack. Thank you Peeled Snacks for the review snacks and for sponsoring this delicious and nutritious give-away on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

The Bedtime Book for Dogs by Bruce Littlefield, Review & Give-Away {Give-Away Ended}

Do you have a dog or dogs that are part of your family? Yesterday, our 2 year old was sitting on the floor in the family room with our 1 year old Westie cuddled in his lap. I sat back for a moment and just relished the moment of watching my son be so loving to our Zoey.  I think pets are a wonderful additions to a family and they teach our children and ourselves so much. Recently, I was sent Bruce Littlefield’s, The Bedtime Book for Dogs, and I have to say, it is an adorable book.  What I really like, is that it is a simple story that is easy for kids to read to their dog thus creating some special time for both of them.  The book is delightfully illustrated by Paul S. Heath.  My toddlers enjoy this book as well as our dogs and I look forward to them being able to read it to our three dogs very soon.  This book celebrates the love of a dog and his friend and gives you a few minute to cuddle with your dog and your kids and share some special time. I am adding this book to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.  It is truly a great book for all the dogs and dog lovers on your list.
