I tried Bing Rewards out myself the other day and thought it was great I could earn credit for the searches I have to do every single day! Why shouldn’t I be rewarded? Why shouldn’t you? How about seeing a movie with your family, eating out or a new pair of shoes because you were doing what you normally do anyway? That would be nice, to be rewarded for the stuff we have to do. There’s another great program called Bing in the Classroom and you can learn how Microsoft is bringing technology to schools with ad-free search, free Surface tablets for classrooms, and digital literacy lesson plans. #MaxYourTax With Walmart’s Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Imagine me singing that, on second thought, maybe you shouldn’t. However, I’m sure many were singing a similar tune when they received their tax refund check this year. If you are like me with a family, home and busy life, that money is very welcome. I am a very big saver and I like to get the most bang for my buck on what I do spend. I guess you could say, I like to see just how much I can save when buying the things we need. I really scored big in that department this year, I want to share my story with you and hopefully help you #MaxYourTax return this year.

Cell phone plans can be so expensive, especially when your kids get to the age that they all need a phone and plan. It can easily get way out of hand for most families. We have a family of 7 and 5 of us all have smartphones so it can be hard to find something affordable. I can hardly believe my 4th child is going to be joining the phone carrying crew and so I started to scout out options. I mean I want something affordable and a phone that is not going to cost $600!

While at Walmart picking up some essentials, I happened to notice the Walmart Family Mobile service has the lowest priced unlimited plans, just $29.88 a month for the first line. That is for unlimited talk, text/data service which includes up to 500MB of 4G LTE data What a deal! This is perfect for him and it definitely lets me maximize my tax refund!

I was able to pick up the Samsung Galaxy Avant and starter kit for just $149 for the phone and $25 for the starter kit.

While picking that out I noticed ZTE Zinger was marked down in price to $19.84 from the original price of $39.88, that is a great way to really get value for your tax dollars.

You know since I was able to save so much on the phone and service, I have some extra tax return money to put toward something else. Maybe toward creating an even bigger butterfly garden. Thanksgiving is over and I’m a passenger on a speeding train, destination Christmas. Do you feel like that too? With everything I have to do, it can be overwhelming. The decorating, shopping, cooking, baking and wrapping, added to my already jam-packed schedule, leaves me feeling like I can barely breathe.

I have come to the conclusion that I really need to remember that if I let all this stress get to me and start neglecting the relationships in my life that no amount of decorating or cookies will make it okay. I can get so caught up with all the ideas on Pinterest and social media that make me feel if I don’t have every corner of our home decked with picture perfect perfection, more than 30 different kinds of homemade cookies in the freezer and every gift wrapped with handcrafted wrap, ribbons and tags that my family will need extensive therapy in the future. In fact the exact opposite is true, when I remove the unrealistic expectations, I feel better and my family will remember the way we had fun together and not that I didn’t have 4 different trees up when they look back. Who wants their family’s memories to be of an expertly decorated home and a mother who was short with everyone, lost her temper and never had time to relax and spend time with the family.

This season I am pulling the emergency stop on the train and getting off and leaving all my baggage on board. I am going to focus on what I can do to enjoy the holidays with my family and not let stress, other people, the media or anything else make me think I am failing. I am going to play in the snow and read with my kids and spend quality time with my husband.

In fact, I have a special K-Y® date night planned for us. After the kids are in bed, we are going to unplug from our computers, smart phones and tablets and I am going to make us some gourmet hot chocolate, some decadent chocolate cake and bring our one of our favorite word games. We picked the Beginner’s Science Lab from the Holiday Flyer for our budding scientists.

The boys were thrilled to see the huge box filled with all kinds of science equipment and materials.

Building a volcano was the first project. It was very simple, there is a non-toxic paper mache mixture that you just add water to and mix with your hands. Then on some wax paper you mold into a volcano shape and form the opening. It must dry for a couple of days before you can have an eruption. Ours is drying but we will take a video and update this post in a couple of days.

Another great experiment, is the liquid layers, using pancake syrup, cooking oil and colored water, the boys observed how the colored water formed a ball that actually passed through the oil layer into the water layer. They thought that was really neat. We have some more experiments lined up for today and they are really looking forward to it.

Buying a new car is quite an experience and investment. Looking back on my childhood, there are some very funny new car buying stories that we love to share. My older brother started a side business selling firewood when he was just out of his teens.
