Things To Consider When Choosing An Essential Oil Diffuser #Giveaway

I love using essential oil diffusers in my home. They are so beneficial in numerous ways. I love the aromatherapy effects that the diffused oil produces. How To Give Your Dog A Bath Without Getting A Bath!

I have 3 white dogs, never realized just how crazy that was and no, it was not planned. They are definitely different shapes, sizes and breeds. We have a huge, muscular purebred American Bulldog, a medium West Highland White Terrier and a tiny Maltese. They all have extremely different coat types too. The bulldog has a short, straight coat that sheds. The Westie has a wiry non-shedding coat that does not have an undercoat. The Maltese has a thick double coat of silky non- shedding fur.

Living up in the mountains, we do not have a ready supply of dog groomers, nor do we have any mobile grooming vans. I take care of the grooming. We even put a huge farmhouse sink in our laundry room with an awesome faucet to bathe the two smaller and messier ones. I am very lucky because they like their baths and do not mind at all clipping, scissoring, brushing and combing.

The worst part of the bath is that dreaded shake. You know what I mean, the one that happens just as you are trying to find a towel. The one that leaves you wet from head to toe. Ugh, I hate that, but I have good news. I no longer have to search for the perfect towel. I have the perfect drying towel now and it is so super large and absorbent I can use it on both these hairy beasts and still use it for the bulldog without issue.

With a husband, 5 kids and an insanely busy life, I truly do not know how I would do all I do without technology. Our family is seriously “connected”. I love what technology has done for us, the doors it has opened, the lives we can touch and the lives that can touch us because of it. Our son Ethan has been bugging us for a phone and frankly it is something we have been considering as he is getting more involved with extracurricular activities and playing on sports teams. As he gets older, there will be more sports and activities. It will make Mom and Dad feel better knowing we have a way to let him know if we are running late or a way he can call or text us with anything. When I was at Walmart and saw the great price they had on the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, I picked it up. It was an amazing deal!

The phone is great, touch screen is very responsive, call sound is clear and crisp, phone is large enough to view recipes or photos in a good resolution. Music sounds great, could not be happier with it.

With all that data, I can do more and save more! When I am out shopping one of my favorite apps is Price Match. That app lets me scan the UPC code of any product and in seconds tells me who has the cheapest price. Since most stores match prices, that app alone has saved me hundreds of dollars. It really helps to have a plan like this because I use my phone so much.

I am always texting my husband a list of things to pick up at the store, texting my older kids, checking the weather when traveling, looking up phone numbers, finding restaurants or stores when traveling and on vacation and so much more! There are so many uses for data and so a plan like this is so awesome! The free VUDU movies, they are the icing on the data cake! A time to unwind and sit down for a family movie night is always a good plan. Oh and one rule-phones off!

We love the time to disconnect from our phones and spend that time connecting with each other and sharing a special movie together. We make a night of it with popcorn and movie theater candy. Hey I have even been checking out some great movie night treats on this Samsung Galaxy Grand via a Food App.

The Best Way To Cook Soups & Stews! #HolidayGiftGuide #Giveaway

I love to cook stews and soups this time of year. One of my very favorites that I grew up with, is Pasta Fagioli which means pasta with beans in Italian. It is a warm-you-up, stick-to-your-ribs, bowl of deliciousness.

This weekend I cooked a huge batch of it in my brand new Emile & Henry Stewpot. I love this huge 7 quart, red covered stewpot. It is big and that is good because being Italian we never cook a little bit of anything. I believe it had to be an Italian that coined the phrase “Go Big or Go Home”. We just always have enough for anyone that stops by. I have a big family, but stews and soups are so good the next day and even to freeze.

This huge stewpot is an entirely natural cooking vessel. This stewpot is part of Emile & Henry’s Flame® product line and can be used direct on heat (gas, electric or halogen), in the oven, the microwave, even on the barbecue. The cookware is highly resistant to thermal shocks and you can take it from the freezer and put right in a hot oven.

The cookware itself retains heat so your food stays hot longer. The cookware is wonderful for cooking simmered dishes like stews and soups but recommended by word renown chefs to use when cooking caramel due to its even heat diffusion. This stewpot makes caramel quickly and easily. We are going to try that out as my husband has been going on about wanting to make a sea-salt caramel.

Flame® Cookware is produced using raw materials directly from nature like non-treated clay, sand, filtered water and mineral oxides for the colorful glazes. So you know you are cooking in total safety. There is no lead, cadmium or nickel in them cookware and so no risk of contamination when cooking. The cookware is made in France from high fired Burgundy clay.

Since it is such an excellent heat diffuser as opposed to metallic cookware, it diffuses heat and does not conduct it. The cooking process is gentle and food does not burn, so you are left with the flavors of your food intact. Since it is such a great diffuser it performs well on lower temperatures. So very high temperatures are unnecessary and it is advised to start with low heat.

The cookware is very sturdy and resistant to mechanical shocks that make it a great choice in restaurants. The glazes used are very resistant to the dishwasher and the most aggressive of detergents

While my Pasta Fagioli was simmering I made a nice crusty round bread in my Emile & Henry Bread Cloche. You may remember when I showed you those last year. They are still one of my favorite kitchen items and the only way I make bread now!

When my Pasta Fagioli was done I served it with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and the fresh sliced bread. It was the perfect weekend dinner on a cold night for this family.

What You Need To Know When Shopping For A Swing Set.

I believe in buying quality especially when it comes to things that we will be using for a long time. If you go cheap on things like that, you will just end up replacing them many times over and it will cost you more in the long run. When shopping for a swingset you may be enticed by super low prices. However, take a look at what you are really getting. Will the structure grow with your child? Sure they may be toddlers now but they won’t be for long and you want a set that will grow with them. Can it support adults. It certainly should so you can get in on the fun and help your child navigate some of the structures.

When we were shopping for a swing set 6 years ago our kids were super little. one was not even 2 months old when I started shopping for the set. I scoured everything I could find, looking for the best materials, quality construction, adaptability, large number of activities and play areas. I spent a many weeks of painstaking research. I knew we wanted 100% cedar construction, a climbing wall, swings, clubhouses, slides, monkey bars, horse glider swing, picnic table, tire swing and a quality construction that would stand up to cold winters and allow adults to play too. I found what I was looking for at Eastern Jungle Gym. I even hit a spectacular sale that made the set I purchased a tremendous value for the money. I am not saying it was cheap, but when I tell you 6 years later that our set is still going strong and still something our kids play on daily, we are definitely getting more than our money’s worth out of it.

We chose the Fantasy wooden swing set which is the most popular of their Multi-Deck Series. Two of the clubhouses are covered with canopies. The third clubhouse takes the place of a walkway and acts as an uncovered bridge between the two. Beneath the two higher clubhouses the kids will discover a set of double-wide monkey bars, large enough to not interfere with the nearby tire swing.

We started big with our set but one of the things I love about Eastern Jungle Gym is their sets are able to be expanded with new accessories. This way, no matter what size set you have, you can add additional features or structures to expand your child’s play options. They also have replacement tarps and accessories so you can easily renew your set as needed. After 6 years and two active boys our set is going strong. The only things showing any wear were the 2 clubhouse tarps and it needs some touch up on the wood stain. We also wanted a few extra rock grips for the climbing wall as our 6-year-old was needing some that were closer and filled in a few large gaps. I called Eastern Jungle Gym and spoke to Ashley who was so pleasant and helpful. I explained what I wanted and she directed me to what I needed. We even discussed color options for the tarps to really change the look. In the end we decided on the green and yellow striped tarps and 8 extra rock grips for the rock wall. Next year we plan to get the stain to touch up the set since we were moving into colder weather, we will take care of that in the spring. Easter Jungle Gym graciously provided the tarps and rock grips and had them shipped out promptly to us.

My husband was able to easily change out the tarps and add the rock grips.

The car seats fit great, there are Velcro openings for the seat belts. The cover we chose is the VersaVia , this cover comes in three colors; black, tan and gray. The cover is quilted with a non-slip rubber backing that keeps it in place. It looks like a custom cover. The cover is waterproof, and 54″ wide so with the adjustable tight-fitting straps it fits most trucks, SUVs and vans.
