How Grateful Children Thank & Praise Their Moms

Mother’s Day is bittersweet for me because in 3 days it will mark 10 years that I lost my mother on that very day. While I enjoy celebrating my motherhood with my family, there is always a huge part that is missing.  I know my mother would never want me to be sad so I try to stay happy and positive about the day.

A great book that has heartwarming and entertaining stories  by grateful children all in praise of their mother is Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom.  This new book is filled with stories to brighten any mother’s day and show that kids were truly paying attention to their mom after all.  The book features country singer Jo Dee Messina’s own story about her mom! You will also find stories about the other moms in your life, step-mothers, grandmothers, in-laws and more.

Help Your Children Be The Best They Can Be

As parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors and more we want to help kids be the best they can be.  Self-esteem, tolerance, good values – these are gifts that will last children a lifetime and help them become successful adults. I want to share a great book with you that shows kids positive role models to follow in its stories about making good choices, having confidence and doing the right thing.  These stories serve as a sounding board to encourage conversation and discussion between children and adults.  Perfect for family discussions and great for the classroom.

From Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing, Be The Best You Can Be is a  joint project of Chicken Soup for the Soul and The Boniuk Foundation, working together to promote tolerance, respect, and compassion, inspiring young people and adults to embrace their differences, reject stereotypes, and make good choices. It’s part of a larger effort that includes additional books for teens, college students, parents, and grandparents, as well as a family television show every Saturday morning starting in October.

Be The Best You Can Be Book

This book harnesses the power of storytelling to inspire and teach kids, while also entertaining them. Key issues such as bullying, tolerance, and values are addressed in stories selected from Chicken Soup for the Soul’s vast library and represent the best on these topics from the company’s 22-year history.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hope & Miracles Review & Giveaway! 3 Winners!

csfts new logo

Do you ever feel like you need some reassurance, especially in your faith?  I think most of us can relate to that. Sometimes we need to be reminded and shown that just because we cannot see something, does not mean it does not exist.  When you are feeling down or having trouble accepting things that may be occurring in your life, it can have you doubting your faith.

Perhaps you have lost someone you love and want desperately to know they are still around. Maybe you are praying for a sign.  The Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hope & Miracles book is full of 101 miraculous stories of hope, faith, divine intervention and answered prayers that will amaze you.  These encouraging stories will lift your spirits and restore your faith.

chicken-soup-for-the-soul-hope-miracles-9781611599442_lg

Read about the mother of a Sandy Hook shooting victim who prayed for a sign that here son Jesse was okay and minutes later saw “Jesse & Jesus” written in the sky.  You will be amazed when you read how a grieving daughter remembering her mom’s appearance on the show, Let’s Make A Deal, went there herself.  She was picked from the audience and won a new car!  A woman sitting on a bench, suddenly hears her mother’s voice and it forces her off the bench. A few moments later a tree falls on the bench.  If that does not have you believing, it was also the anniversary of her mom’s death.  In another story a brother and sister who were separated at British orphanage during World War II were reunited 75 years later in Australia.  Read  about a businessman turned paster who did not believe in miracles until he laid his hands on a paralyzed man who then walked into his office a few weeks later.  There are 96 other stories that are powerful examples of our connection to a higher power that will fill you with awe and give your strength when you are weak.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: “The Cat Did What?” Review & Giveaway!!! 3 Winners!!! #HolidayGiftGuide

csfts new logo

Cats some people love them and some people are not cat people or at least they don’t think they are until they become an accidental cat lover.  That’s just one of the 101 amazing stories  of magical moments, miracles and mischief in The Cat Did What?  from Chicken Soup for the  Soul.  The book is filled with stories of all kinds.  Stories that will make you laugh, bring a tear to your eye and have you shaking your head.  I loved the story of  how a new kitten rescued  to comfort a 12-year-old cat who was incredibly lonely after losing her long time feline companion.  The new kitten and then adult cat wanted nothing to do with the ailing cat but at the end of her life, this cat called Murray became a different cat and laid with the older cat, comforted her and stayed with her the whole day.  After she died he never showed that side of him again.  That was a very emotional story but there are stories to make you laugh and nod in agreement as well.

If you have a cat or animal lover on your holiday wish list you may wish to check out this book for them.  Mommy Ramblings is adding it to our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide.

The Cat Did What
