The Yoga Garden Game from YogaKids Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Recently I received The Yoga Garden Game from YogaKids to review.  This beautiful game was created by Jennifer Durand and is a cooperative game and fun learning tool.  The game is designed to help children plan and learn yoga in the Parents Choice award winning YogaKids style.  The Yoga Garden plants seeds for a lifetime of harmony, peace and well being.

This game is really great because kids naturally love to move and enjoy yoga.  The objective of the game is to plant a flower in the garden before night fall.  As the players travel around the board they learn classic yoga postures, and have the chance to invent their own.

The Yoga Garden pose cards show the different poses and since they are named after animals and objects found in nature it provides a natural springboard to develop their imaginations and awareness, while learning the different poses.

As parents we like our kids to be active and have fun while playing and learning. This game is fun but also provides physical exercise, learning and  creativeness that we as parents try hard to foster in our children.  The game is for ages 4 and up and the illustrations on the board are so beautiful it really is a work of art as well.

YogaKids has generously provided Mommy Ramblings with another Yoga Garden Game that we will be giving to one lucky blog reader.  Would you like a chance to win this great game?  If so follow the give-away rules below and good luck.  This is open to US residents.

Baby Blanket Music Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Baby_Blanket_Music_logo_web.jpg

I recently received a Baby Blanket Music CD to review.  The selection I was sent was soothing lullaby arrangements of songs made famous by Elton John.

Baby_Blanket_Music_Elton_John_web.jpg

Baby Blanket Music takes your favorite songs by your favorite artists and arranges them just right so that now they can be your baby’s favorites too! Whether singing along softly, cruising quietly in the car, or lulling to sleepy slumber, this is the perfect way to share your music with your little one.

Developed under the guidance of a wide range of doctors, teachers and child development specialists, and approved by babies and parents of all ages, Baby Blanket Music is designed to soothe while enhancing the enjoyment and cognition of music.

Familiar baby sounds like vibraphones and music boxes are paired with a full medley of richer, more classical instruments including strings, woodwinds, pianos, harps and soft percussion. Together, these instrumental arrangements create gentle textures that are calming and enjoyable to ears of any age!

I really liked the soothing lullaby arrangements of Elton John’s hits on this CD.  It was neat to hear Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Bennie And The Jets, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Croccodile Rock, Levon, and Your Song in soothing instrumental lullaby songs.

They have CDs with soothing lullaby arrangements of Billy Joel, Madonna, John Mayer, Simon & Garfunkel and Michael Jackson.  If you go to the Baby Blanket Music Website you can hear clips of the songs on any of these cds.

Earth Monkeys Eco-Friendly Baby & Toddler Products Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Earth Monkeys Eco-Friendly Baby & Toddler Gear sent Mommy Ramblings a neat set of their products.  Mommy Ramblings received the Bib, Porta-Pad and Paci-Pack.  These were packed so compact in their little attached bags that they fold up into.  They have an attached recycled aluminum carabiner that is so handy to either attach to something or attach something to.

The bib is super handy to have and wipes clean, a definite must have in every diaper bag.  The handy pocket works well to catch all the crumbs our little ones seem to endlessly drop.

The Porta-Pad is handy for diaper changes on the go and takes up literally no room in the diaper bag and could be attached to the loop on your jeans for the mom or dad on the go, who wants to travel lite.

The Paci-Pack keeps pacifiers tucked away and clean until needed and the handy hook makes it easy to find.

lukeOWLlily Handmade Knits by Tara Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Tara from lukeOWLlily Handmade Knits contacted me on my Facebook photography fan page for Blueberry Hill Photography.  She asked if I wanted any of her products and would I in turn take some photos that she could use to advertise them.  When I took a look at her adorable work, I immediately agreed.

Well, I received the hats today and let me tell you I am so impressed.  First the quality is fantastic.  The yarn she used is such high quality and the hats feel thick and soft with vibrant colors that catch the eye.  When my husband saw them he was floored because they were so nice.  Most of all, the little ones could not wait to try them on and did not want to take them off.  I am almost looking forward to winter.  Please check out her Etsy shop and see her full line of gorgeous handmade knits.  I will sure be back for more.

Miracle-Gro® Kids Terrarium Review!!!

Scotts Miracle-Gro sent me a package the other day of their products to review.  The first review that we are doing on the products they sent is the Miracle-Gro Kids Terrarium.  We are big gardeners here and our vegetable garden is in full swing.  I love the idea of the terrarium because it teaches kids how plants grow from seed and then produce fruit when cared for properly.

We headed out to the deck and after unpacking the box and removing all the plastic coverings we got to work.

The first step was to put the pre-measured packages of gro mix in the containers and then add 3 Tablespoons of water and watch it expand.  Then give it a stir with the planting stick.  When all four were done we planted a few of the provided seeds in each container and labeled them and then put them in the terrarium.  We then covered them with the 2 plastic pieces that complete the top.  Now we take care of the little seeds and watch them grow into seedlings.

There was a neat little pyramid included that was an excellent tool for teaching little once the stages of plant growth.  It also explained what is needed for the plants to grow like sun and water.  It was a great springboard for education and you could tailor it to the age of the child and expand the conversation for older children.

All in all this was an easy project that provided a great opportunity to really slow down and concentrate on the planting and growing of vegetables and fruits.  If you have the chance you should try this with your kids.  Let me know if you do. Mommy Ramblings thanks Scotts Miracle-Gro for their support.   Now back to watching our seedlings grow. : )

Saltwater Canvas Whale Beach Bag Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Helen Langone owner of Saltwater Canvas was so generous to send me one of their Whale Bags for me to review.  We were going on a trip to Florida and with our family, we always have a ton of stuff we are hauling.  I love this beach bag for so many reasons.  First it is huge, second it has so many pockets and my husband especially loved this feature.  We were on the go during our vacation visiting beach islands, going on cruises and with two toddlers and their gear in tow, this bag was up to the the task.  We never ran out of pockets to hold our drinks, bottles, sunscreen, sippy cups and much more.  The roomy interior seemed to never run out of space to hold the endless things we needed to cart along with us.

The bag is so sturdy and will remain open with nothing in it.  It is a mesh bag but is so firm and strong that it holds its shape, definitely not floppy or flimsy.  The mesh was nice because all the sand would sift right through.  The fact that it is machine washable really appealed to me since moms know to expect spills and the fact that you can just pop it in the wash, is priceless.  The interior zipper pocket was very handy and secure and the caribeaner was great to attach our keys.

The colors were great and very vivid.  I got many compliments on the bag throughout our vacation. The Whale Bag is super strong, so much so that we went on a pedal car ride around one of the islands, and I hung the loaded bag on a hook on the outside of the pedal car and it held up fantastically.

The straps are long enough to sling over your shoulder which is great when your hands are full with babies or kids.  I will be using this bag for much more than the beach.  It makes a great huge tote for trips and weekends away and to keep in the car for the kid’s stuff.  Thank you so much Helen for making such a great bag for families.

  • Holds 6 beach towels
  • 7 Colors to choose from!
  • Room on top for beach toys.
  • 9 supersized pockets hold your beach favorites upright & easy to see.
  • Secret zippered pocket inside for your valuables
  • 15″ tall & 15″ oval base
  • 1.5″ double shoulder straps
  • Washable
Featured in O Magazine

“And for the beach, this Saltwater Canvas tote (whale bag) has everything you could ask for: eight outer pockets, room inside for up to six towels, and a mesh construction that strains out sand. It stands upright by itself and flattens down for packing. Happy trails!”
O Magazine, June 2011

Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-Ji Book Review & Give-Away!!! ***Closed***

logo

Lee & Low Books sent me Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-Ji to review.  Lee & Low Books is  an independent children’s book publisher focusing on diversity.  It is their company’s mission to meet the need for  stories that all children can identify with and enjoy.

Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-ji

When my four year old son was getting ready to take his afternoon nap in his new bed that my husband and I had just got all together, I thought it would make a good story to read.  I think as parents we should introduce diversity early in our childrens’ lives.  If they know from an early age that people are different, then there will be no big deal and acceptance will be natural.  I think it is important for young children to know people come in different colors, follow different religions and are of different cultures.  I have always had books that showed diversity to my children from the earliest stages, there are many board books in my house that introduce diversity.  When Lee & Low Books suggested this title, I was intrigued.

This book follows a little boy Aneel who is Indian-American.  His grandparents come to  live with him, and his grandfather tells many stories of when he was young.  There is a nice family dynamic in this book where the family works together making a meal from Dada-ji’s youth.  It introduces us to Indian words and foods and shows that even though families may be different cultures there are many things we all have in common.  It is  a delightful story about how when Dada-ji was a young boy he ate Hot, Hot Roti and it made him have supernatural powers where he could tie cobras in a knot and wrestle water buffalo.   Aneel is curious to know if Dada-ji ate the Roti today if he would have the same powers so they set out to find out.

Ethan and I enjoyed the book that was delightful to read and showed the love of a family through generations.

Lee & Low Books is sponsoring a give-away of a brand new copy of Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-Ji for one of Mommy Rambling’s readers.
