  • Make it a family affair. Before going to the grocery store, brainstorm appetizing recipes with the family so everyone can take part in the planning process. This is a great way to get creative while teaching kids about various ingredients and meal preparation.
  • Mix it up: Don’t let meal preparation be a daunting task. Get the kids involved in helping to prepare various ingredients. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up and spend quality time with your children as you fix up delicious treats.
  • Taste test, anyone? During the cooking process, taste the food and talk with your kids about any necessary adjustments. This will encourage them to engage their palate and analyze the flavors they taste. It is also a great way to educate children on different flavors and the health benefits of cooking and you’ll learn a lot about their individual preferences.

“Many of today’s families live an ‘on the go’ lifestyle, so it’s important for them to find ways to come together,” said David VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA. “LG always looks for ways to facilitate that in the heart of the home, and our kitchen technologies like Door-in-Door and CustomChill help make it easier.”

LG continues to give back to the community and throughout the event, provided the opportunity for celebrities to participate in a food drive to benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, a local No Kid Hungry partner organization. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in America by connecting kids in need to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals, and teaches low-income families to cook healthy, affordable meals. Since the campaign’s launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with more than 107 million additional meals.

After the event, LG also donated its new Door-in-Door refrigerator to one of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s partnering organizations, which will help serve fresh, nutritious meals to children who, during the summer, don’t have access to the school meals they rely on to grow and thrive. By ensuring these kids continue to receive healthy meals during the summer, No Kid Hungry is making sure they return to school healthy and ready to learn.

“I am so appreciative to LG for their generous support of No Kid Hungry,” said Lee.  “This was a fantastic event to illustrate the importance of spending quality time with family in the kitchen and how kitchen advances like LG’s new refrigerator are great additions to today’s busy households.”

Rancic added, “We had a blast at the LG Junior Chef Academy.  What a great way to spend quality time with Duke – and he learned to cook while supporting No Kid Hungry!”

The new LG Door-in-Door refrigerator with CustomChill provides multiple storage options, making it easier than ever to organize.  For family favorites like juices, yogurt or milk, the Door-in-Door compartment, easily accessible with the push of a button, keeps them front and center without having to open the entire refrigerator.  Accessing this feature also reduces cold air loss by up to 47 percent* to help keep food fresher for longer and conserve energy.  This model is the LG’s first to introduce its versatile CustomChill drawer that can be used as either extra refrigerator or soft freezer space using four different temperature settings. It offers the flexibility and convenience families love to store a wide variety of food items.

In addition to the company’s latest refrigerator with CustomChill technology, LG showcased four models from its broader Door-in-Door refrigerator suite, all of which are designed to meet varying consumer needs.  Each has its own differentiated benefit including offering mega-capacity storage space to side-by-side design, offering a versatile line-up from which consumers can select the Door-in-Door model best suited for their lifestyle.

The ENERGY STAR¼ certified 30-cubic-foot CustomChill French-Door refrigerator (LG Model LMXS30776S) is available now at stores nationwide, at a manufacturer’s suggested price of $3,999.  For more information on LG’s refrigerators featuring Door-in-Door technology, please visit http://www.lgusa.com/doorindoor.
