K5 Learning Online Reading and Math Program Review!!!

K5

K5 Learning is an award-winning online reading and math program for kids in kindergarten to grade 5. Kids work at their own level and their own pace through a personalized program of over 3,000 online tutorials and activities.

Designed principally for after school study and summer study, K5 is also used by homeschoolers, special needs and gifted kids. K5 helps your children build good study habits and excel in school.

I recently tried this program out and it was easy to set up and customize for my kids. Before they begin they enter their name and grade level, then design a character that looks like them or anything they like. Next, your child is ready to start learning through fun games. The math facts for my 5-year-old was done integrated with a bowling theme and it was engaging and kept his interest. It is a program that both he and my 7-year-old look forward to playing not something that is a drag. It will save their progress, give reports and let children switch between math, spelling and math and reading lessons easily.

Parents will find it easy to monitor progress and identify areas where their children need more help or practice. There are 2 logins, one for parents and one for kids.  The kids are logged in to an easy to navigate dashboard and the parents have a dashboard that lets them view  reports on their child and get the details of how they are progressing.   To view a video of how the system works click HERE.  The software is designed so that children as young as 4 can use and navigate the lessons by themselves.

This program is great for both kids that attend school or are home schooled as well as pre-school age children. If you are looking for a reading and math enrichment program, you should check out K5. You can view sample lessons HERE. There is a 14 day free trial you can use to see for yourself how it works and how your child likes it. You can also download a free ebook, “How to Help Your Kids Succeed in School” filled with practical advice and specific activities by clicking HERE.  To set up the free trial click HERE to get started.  Let me know what you think.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist Needs Your Help To Help Others!!!

State-Farm-Neighborhood-Assist

I have always put great value on the importance of giving back in our own community. Whether it’s joining a local group that plants flowers in town or volunteering as a scout leader, sports coach or to help with a neighborhood litter pluck, it’s a great feeling to take part in something that impacts the community.

I have been a scout leader, headed local volunteer organizations and understand the importance of giving back.  Our community is dependant on individuals to give their time for the betterment of our neighborhoods and towns.  I consider myself lucky to live in a place where people are willing to volunteer in an effort to assist others, beautify our towns and teach new skills.

As a mom, I know that we are an example to our children.  I have always encouraged my children to volunteer and give back  to the community as well.  My oldest daughter has volunteered at blood drives and has been a youth leadership ambassador and leader since her early teens.  She is graduating with honors with her Masters degree in May with numerous awards and one is the university’s public service award.  It makes me proud as a mom to see that my children are a positive influence on others.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist is a life-changing program that helps empower communities and the people who live there…by awarding grants of $25,000 to 40 deserving projects!

Communities across the United States and Canada answered the call from State Farm to help create a positive impact in their community and submitted 4,000 causes as part of this year’s State Farm Neighborhood Assist. Now the top 200 causes have been selected by the State  and they need your “assist” to help vote them into the top 40.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist awards desperately needed grants to the top 40 deserving programs determined by your votes!  Please vote by visiting their page and casting your vote for your favorite State Farm Neighborhood Assist programs — you can show your support up to 10 times each day!  Hurry because voting ends May 16th!

You can learn more by visiting the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Website HERE!

Join To Help Kellogg’s Provide 1,000,000 Kids with Breakfast That Normally Go Without!!!

images (2)

As a mom I feel breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should never be skipped. When I heard that 1 in 5 kids may be starting the day off without breakfast because food is not available, I wanted to do something. I was happy when asked to partner with Kellogg’s in getting the word out and trying to help get  1,000,000 breakfasts to kids that would normally go without during a school year. In this economy there are so many families struggling and it really is bad in our local area.  With the 1 in 5 statistic there is a good chance that the 1 is one of my kid’s friends.  Kellogg’s Share Breakfast Program could use your help, with your support, Kellogg’s can feed the potential of kids in our communities by sharing one million breakfasts with children who may go without.  Simply visit the Kellogg’s Share Breakfast website HERE to learn more and how you can help by just sharing a video.

Kellogg’s® and  celebrity dad and actor Taye Diggs have partnered to share breakfast with children in need as part of the third consecutive Share Breakfast initiative. Starting today, families across the country can share a breakfast with a child in need by simply sharing a public service announcement featuring Diggs on ShareBreakfast.com. For each view, share and comment, Kellogg’s will share breakfast.

Along with in-school breakfast partner Action For Healthy Kids®, Kellogg’s and Diggs are making it their mission to show families how a wholesome breakfast can help kids reach their full potential every day. Kids who eat breakfast have more energy and focus for learning, yet nearly one in five children across our communities go without breakfast. That’s why Kellogg’s and Diggs are leading the charge to help end childhood hunger and are rallying families across the U.S. to help provide breakfast for kids in need.

As a dad, Kellogg’s Share Breakfast campaign is a cause Diggs feels passionately about. His mom was a teacher and he was raised on the belief that eating a wholesome breakfast helps give kids the potential to have a great day. As a child, Taye grew up as the eldest of five children in Rochester, New York and after the sudden death of his father, Taye stepped up to help his mother care for his four younger siblings. Through his family leadership, he can relate to the financial worries that many families in America face in putting food on the table every day. In the program’s third year, Kellogg’s Share Breakfast will share one million breakfasts* with kids in need through grants to schools or school districts to help them increase their participation in school breakfast programs.

“Just imagine what kids across the country could accomplish if they each had a great start every day. That’s why I am partnering with Kellogg’s and the Share Breakfast program to help make this a reality,” said Diggs. “Join me in raising one million breakfasts to help get America’s kids the start they deserve.”
