Make These Captain Underpants Sock Puppets

Do you have kids in your house that love the Epic Tales of Captain Underpants books? I sure do! That is why I am so excited to let you know that tomorrow, July 13th, DreamWorks The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants premiers on Netflix!

DreamWorks generously sent us a package filled with goodies to celebrate this great premier. In our package we had some craft supplies to create 2 sock puppets of the best friends Harold Hutchins and George Beard from Captain Underpants.

If you would like to make these sock puppets you will need:

  • 1 Tan Sock
  • 1 Brown Sock
  • 1 Green/Blue Stripe Leg/Arm Warmer
  • 1 White Leg/Arm Warmer
  • 4″ by 6″ Piece of Red Craft Felt
  • 4″ by 6″ Piece of Black Craft Felt
  • 4 Black Buttons
  • 4′ of Yellow Blanket Yarn
  • 4′ of Black Blanket Yarn
  • Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors

Check out our step-by-step video tutorial below:

You can adapt the above tutorial to make all kinds of sock puppets using whatever kind of socks and yarn you have in your house. It is a great way to entertain the kids on a rainy day. If you don’t have leg warmers, you can make some by cutting off the foot of a sock.

In our goodie bag my boys were thrilled to find the The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants Wedgie Power Handbook.

Let me know what you think and remember this new series is a great way to get your kids reading the Captain Underpants Books. Are you planning on watching The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants when it premieres on Netflix July 13th?

Pup Star World Tour Recipe Contest- Chinese Almond Cookies

We were thrilled to take part in the Pup Star World Tour Cuisine Contest to celebrate the release of Pup Star: World Tour on Netflix and Digital HD May 5th. Air Bud Entertainment’s PUP STAR is back, with an all-new movie that takes the popular singing dogs on trip around the world, where Tiny and friends find fantastic new songs and meet exciting new canine singers that prove music really is the universal language!

If you missed our video we made of our unboxing of the great Pup Star: World Tour Suitcase Goodie Box we received, you can check it out below:

In that box we found a recipe booklet filled with fun human recipes we could make to enjoy while we watch Pup Star: World Tour on Netflix. We just love all the Air Bud and Air Buddies movies, so we were super excited to make Chinese Almond Cookies and share them with you.

Check out our recipe tutorial video below for step by step instructions on how to make these great cookies.

We altered the recipe a little because it mentioned baking soda but there was no baking soda in the recipe and so I added 1.5 tsp. We also found that 1 cup of sliced almonds was much more than what is needed. A half cup of sliced almonds is more than enough. You can find the recipe with my tweaks below.

Meet The Bottersnikes & Gumbles Today on Netflix #Bottersnikes

Do you have Netflix? We do and we love it. I don’t watch TV or even cable much, but Netflix is something I check out when I have time and I can always find a great documentary or original series or movie to watch. Netflix is the world’s largest internet TV service and it is not hard to understand why.

I want to share some great news! Netflix released their newest kid’s series, Bottersnikes & Gumbles Today!

Bottlesnikes Gumbles

This series is based on the beloved children’s books by S.A. Wakefield that were published in Australia and the UK between 1967 and 1989.

The setting for this series is a fantasy kingdom of rusting junk and abandoned things AKA junkyard. Bottersnikes & Gumbles is geared to boys and girls ages 6-9 and having 2 boys in that range, I can tell you they loved the advance premier we watched together.

The animated graphics are amazing and the characters are awesome! Tink, Willi Bounce, Happi, Merry, Float, Jolli and Toot are the Gumbles.

Meet The Gumbles Graphic

The Gumbles live on Junk Highway in a Gumble Tree with an old school bus on it.

As you might assume from their names, they are fun-loving creatures but they are also quite adventurous. Their bodies have the ability to be stretched or squashed just about any way they want to. The way they move around is called “gumbling” and their favorite snacks are grubs which you might expect are plentiful living on Junk Highway.

While all this sounds delightful in a Gumble sort of way the Bottersnikes are not. The Bottersnikes live in Snike Hill and are ruled by the most awful Bottersnike, King Bottersnike.

They are not fun-loving like the Gumbles, they are mean spirited and more than that, they are stinky, lazy, selfish and mostly evil creatures. They don’t look nice either, they have hard, scaly skin, sharp teeth, claws and ears that glow red-hot when angry, which is almost all of the time!

They enjoy a diet of rusty nails but their favorite treat is mattress stuffing. One thing they really don’t like is water, if they get wet they shrink! You can check out more on their website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This series is very entertaining, I hope you check it out with your kids and let me know what you think in the comments.

This review was made possible by iConnect and Bottlesnikes & Gumbles.  I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions stated are 100% mine.”
