I want to tell you about a very important television event premiering commercial free on Monday, February 29th at 8 pm est. National Geographic is bringing the story of Malala to the NatGeo channel.Malala

Growing up in Swat Valley, Pakistan 10-year-old Malala started to campaign for the rights of girls to receive an education. Using a pen name Malala wrote a blog for the BBC detailing her life under Taliban rule and her feelings on promoting education for girls. Her voice was almost silenced when she was shot by the Taliban at the age of 15 on her way home from school on her school bus.

However her spirit was not ready to be silenced and she did not die and she did not just survive, she thrived! She went on to win the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize which was jointly awarded to her and Kailash Satyarthi for their work in the field of children’s rights. Malala is the Co-Founder of The Malala Fund, a non-profit organization whose work around the world focuses on the rights of girls to receive a quality education.
