BabyKicks 3g Pocket Diaper Review and Give-away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

BabyKicks recently sent me their 3g Pocket Diaper to review. The 3g’s side snap closures are longer lasting and designed to prevent wing droop. I’ve never tried this style of diaper before, and was a little confused because the tabs secure behind the front of the diaper, instead of in front. After a little bit of practice, I figured it out and can put the diaper on pretty quickly. It is a one size fits all diaper, so it has snaps on the rise for size adjustment and plenty of size adjustments on the wings. The waterproof outer material of my review diaper is a cool red but they have many different colors available.  The inner fabric and leg holes are lined in fluffy, soft fleece and I was surprised at how it actually worked better at holding in leaks than full waterproof fabric on the leg holes! When diapers have just the waterproof fabric on the leg holes, it can irritate baby’s skin, but the fleece makes it more comfortable, and allows air flow to prevent rashes! It comes with a one size Joeybunz insert that works in all of the size adjustments, just fold it when it’s too long. It is incredibly thin and trim, not as bulky as most, and still is able to absorb and be leak free!

It is a cute diaper overall, with the white on the leg holes and snaps in contrast of the red! It works very well! It held its own through the night, and I know my baby was comfortable because he slept through the entire night! Whether or not that was from the comfort of the diaper, I was pretty thrilled! I will admit that I used this diaper after only one prep wash, even though more washes are recommended before you get the best absorbency. Usually if I try them out before, I get leaks, but my Babykicks diaper didn’t leak even before the rest of the prep washes! I am impressed with the design and quality of this Babykicks Pocket Diaper, and recommend it to all you cloth diapering mamas!
BabyKicks was started in October 2000, and today has products available in over 15 countries! All their diapers are all made of natural and organic fabrics! Gentle on baby, gentle on the environment!
BabyKicks is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings! One lucky blog reader will win a BabyKicks 3g Pocket Diaper in their choice of color!! (unfortunately the chocolate color is unavailable at this time) Thank you BabyKicks for this fantastic review diaper and give-away!!! Open to US residents.

The Babymio Collection Review & Give-Away!!!

The Babymio Collection is a line of blankets, plush animals, slippers, robes and accessories for babies and toddlers.  Though their robes and slippers only go up to toddler sizes, their adorable animals can be loved at any age.  The plush collections features six animals:Millie the Giraffe, Jax the Tiger, Mooky the Cow, ChiChi the Cheetah, Mellven the Moose and Kona the Monkey. The company started in a spare bedroom by a mother and daughter team is now located in a warehouse in Sunnyvale, California.  You can find The Babymio Collection at specialty retailers or right on Amazon.com.

I was generously sent a Kona Monkey Plush Animal, Kona Blanket and Kona Slippers for review.  After Luke’s bath we tried everything out.  He loved the slippers, they were soft and cozy with a soft plush elastic type back strap to keep them on securely.  The blanket is so soft and plush that I want one for myself.  Luke is an expert on blankets (his middle name is Linus) and he gave it two thumbs up for the minky softness and adorable factor.  The plush monkey is absolutely precious and as I said above their line of plush is great for any age.  They are super soft, nicely detailed and well constructed.  Once you see one, you will want the whole jungle!  You can put together a great coordinating gift that is just perfect for baby showers, baby birth gift, Christenings, and other occasions.  You can even get a matching plush for the other new baby’s siblings so they don’t feel left out.

Mommy Ramblings is adding The Babymio Collection to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.  Delight anyone with one of their plush animals this holiday season!  Their baby items make a great gift for the babies and toddlers on your gift list!

Princeton Tec Bot LED Headlamp Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

My kids love flashlights, truth be known so does my husband.  We have all kinds of LED flashlights, and the kids love the mini ones, Ethan keeps one on his night side table which makes him feel more secure. Recently I was sent a Bot Headlamp from Princeton Tec to review.  Small, simple, and ready for action, the Bot is the newest and youngest member of  the Princceton Tec family.  Bot is designed with the same ergonomic features of the older members, but with a fun and bright PTec twist. Two Ultrabright LEDs housed in a variety of wild colors will certainly be the center of attention, but look beyond that. The Bot is built with the same ruggedness and reliability as the rest of the headlamps in The Family. Durable plastics, a single arm bracket, and large push button make the Bot sturdy and simple to operate. In addition, the battery compartment on the Bot screws shut to ensure that the batteries won’t be accidentally accessed. PTec reliability, PTec personality – the Bot rounds out The Family in a big way.

We received the blue and red version, it is so colorful and fun especially with the neat head band and three different light modes.  The Bot is great when your child needs a light but wants to keep his hands free for other things.  The Bot is easy to operate even for youngsters and is quality made with a 5 year warranty. The Bot will light your child’s way with safety and style.  The bot is ready to go and even includes the 2 AAA batteries needed.  Finally a headlamp for kids that has the same ruggedness and durability that Princeton Tec is synonymous for.

  • 15 Lumens
  • Water Resistant
  • Two ultrabright LEDs
  • Three output modes with 4.5 – 11 hour burn times
  • Two AAA alkaline batteries included

Princeton Tec has supplied me with a purple and pink Bot headlamp for a give-away.  One lucky blog reader will be our winner.  Thank you Princeton Tec for the review sample and for sponsoring this very bright give-away on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

Polar Bottle, Insulated Water Bottle Review & Give-Away!!! 3 Winners!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Polar Bottle® is the original insulated plastic sport bottle. It keeps liquids colder longer than other water bottles. Polar Bottle innovated the industry back in 1994 by creating a bottle that would actually keep water cool during any outdoor activity. The bottle has evolved in the years since with brightly colored foil liners and patterns and an innovative removable valve system. Made in America, Polar Bottle is popular throughout the world.  I was recently sent three Polar Bottles to review.  My daughter quickly claimed the 20 oz pink fade bottle which she thinks is perfect for biking.  I took the 24 oz razzle bottle and my husband got the 24 oz Big Bear.  I know how important it is to stay hydrated especially when exercising, but non insulated bottles do not keep your water cold for long, especially in hot weather.  Let’s face it, cold water just tastes better and is refreshing.  Don’t you want a bottle that will keep your water cold?  I do, and I think the Polar Bottle is easy to clean, use and works well.  Polar Bottles can also be customized and limited edition bottles are also available and make great gifts.

Polar Bottle’s double-wall construction of their insulated water bottles creates a thermal barrier of air to keep heat out and cold in.  Foil layers reflect solar rays for additional thermal protection.  Polar Bottle has never used BPA in any water bottles. Even our first water bottles in 1994 were BPA-free.  Kudos to Polar Bottle for always using safe plastic for their bottles even before consumers became conscious of the dangers of BPA.

Songs from the Baobab: African Lullabies & Nursery Rhymes Book & CD Review and Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I really enjoy enriching my children’s lives by introducing them to different cultures and traditions.  I was recently sent a book to review that allowed me to do just that.  “Songs from the Baobab” is an enchanting book of African lullabies and nursery rhymes.  This hardcover book includes a CD that stores inside the back cover.  Representing 11 languages originating from Central and West Africa and brought to life with lavish illustrations, this collection’s rhymes and lullabies soothe babies and children to sleep as the songs travel from one country and one language to another. Lyrics are reproduced in the original language and translated into English, followed by notes on the origin and cultural context of each song. The accompanying CD features 29 songs from 10 countries—including Rwanda, the Ivory Coast, and Senegal—each one unique in language and sound, recorded with indigenous instruments and exquisitely performed by women, men, and children. This delightful, enchanting production captures the staccato rhythm of the children’s rhymes and the poetry of the language as well as a sense of the heritage and tradition of each culture.

This is a great book to share with your children.  It is an excellent book for little ones who have been adopted from the countries represented, as it helps them identify and know the cultural songs and rhymes that are native to where they were born.  This book and CD are also a great resource to use in school settings and tie in with lessons about different cultures and traditions.  If your family shares their heritage with the cultures in this book you will absolutely love reading and singing the rhymes and songs with your children.

The book features colorful illustrations by Élodie Nouhen as well as full lyrics in the original languages, translated into English. A map and explanatory notes serve to make this an enchanting educational experience for adults as well as children.

Paris-based musician and educator Chantal Grosléziat recorded these pieces with singers from each culture. Paul Mindy arranged each piece with traditional instruments, including the kora, balafon, kalimba and rain sticks. The lullabies and rhymes make frequent references to animals and the natural world. For example, the Central African Republic lullaby “Dunga” urges the newborn to “take your strength from nature.” Family relationships, and in particular the loss of a parent, are find a place in these songs from cultures where disease, famine and war are part of everyday life. A song from Mauritania tells the baby, “your mother has gone to search for jujubes,” and a piece from Guinea evokes the sad fate of orphans, saying “Sali Wonde, nothing is eternal.”

The Secret Mountain is dedicated to the creation of children’s books, videos and music of the highest quality. The French imprint – La Montagne Secrète – is considered to be one of the most original and innovative children’s publishing houses in Canada and France. The company recently made its United States debut with music, DVDs and books.  For more information, visit www.thesecretmountain.com.

This book and CD set makes a great gift this holiday season.  Mommy Ramblings is adding it to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.

“Meet The Feeling Friends” Book and CD Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Meet The Feeling Friends!!!

As a parent, I know how important it is to teach children from the youngest age possible about feelings.  Their feelings, the feelings of people around them and healthy and appropriate ways to express their feelings. Sometimes it’s hard to explain things to a young child in a way they will understand and identify with.  When I find a product that allows me to open a dialogue with my children about issues that are complex, I feel the need to share.  Recently, I was sent, “Meet the Feeling Friends” Book and CD to review.  This book is written by Karen D. Cuthrell (KK) who co-created the Feeling Friends nearly 15 years ago, in an inspired response to her young daughter’s need to express her inner feelings open and honestly.  Each Feeling Friend evolved as a loving guide and conduit for sharing even those hard-to-reveal emotions.

Journey to Feeling Free Island and join KK as she introduces you to her bakers’ dozen of delightful Friends – characters that symbolize the array of primary feelings considered universal to humanity; love, joy, worry, anger, sadness, happiness, loneliness, grumpiness, shyness, panic, caution and confidence!

This book and CD empowers children to identify and express the feelings that hide inside them waiting to be recognized and understood. They give parents and children the vocabulary to talk to each other about feelings. “The Feeling Friends characters are animals and insects presented in real-life situations that teach children about feelings and healthy ways to express them. They are good for children,” says school psychologist Kathy J. Philyaw, Ph.D.

Meet the Feeling Friends™ book and CD allows each Feeling Friend to reveal his or her identity while experiencing the benefits of sharing feelings. The Feeling Friends thrive in the ideal climate where honesty, truth, mutual respect, appropriate timing, and expression, come together to create security and acceptance of feelings – for ourselves and others.

In this delightfully illustrated book you will meet characters like, Worry the Fear Worm, who like his name worries constantly.  Angie the Angry Tiger uses words when he gets mad.  No hitting, punching, kicking or biting, even when he’s angry there’s never any fighting.  You’ll meet Lotta Love the LovaRoo and Joy Bird who sings songs of joy.  Ida the I-Can-Bee is not afraid to follow its dreams and Flutter the Shy Butterfly who has a great big voice inside her.  Your child will absolutely love learning about these characters, and this book is sure to be a springboard that will stimulate a young child to talk about their feelings.

I am feeling very excited to let you know that The Feeling Friends is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win their own “Meet the Feeling Friends” Book and CD.  Thanks to The Feeling Friends for this great review set and wonderful give-away that makes me feel happy!!!  Open to US residents.

Continuum Games, Lumps and Family Talk 2 Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I was recently sent 2 super fun games from Continuum Games for review.

The first has a Christmas theme and is called Lumps. Instead of fearing finding lumps of coal in their Christmas stocking, your child will be begging Santa for some of these Lumps. The Legend of the Lump game is that children around the world have been so good over the past few years; lumps of coal have built up at the North Pole. Puzzled by what to do with the excess coal; Santa’s elves decided to create an exciting new game that uses lumps of coal of all shapes and sizes. Lumps, the Elf Coal Game is the most addictive family dice game you’ll ever play! The goal is to score the most points in three rolls by rolling pairs of the same number. Roll a pair of 3s, score 3 points, a pair of 10s scores 10 points. What makes the game unique is that it has four different types of dice and there are few high numbers. On each turn you have to make decisions on which dice to keep and re-roll. Do you play it safe and hold a pair of 4s, or chance it and try for a high pair? The endless possibilities make Lumps exciting and addictive. This fun game makes a great stocking stuffer! All the coal pieces store in the zippered stocking storage bag.  This game is recommended for ages 6 and up, 1-100 players can play!

The second game is a great game that spurs lots of conversation among family members.  It is called Family Talk 2 and is the second edition of their award-winning Family Talk game.  Engage your family in meaningful conversations with this set of 100 cards filled with new and exciting questions.  This game is perfect to play anywhere, the cards are all on a handy carabiner that makes it the perfect travel game.  Family Talk 2 is the winner of the Tillywig Brain Child Award.  This game is suitable for ages 3 and up.  These cards have thought-provoking questions that will have your whole family talking and discovering new things about each other.
