Build A Dream Playhouses Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

                                                          Build a Dream Playhouses
Build A Dream Playhouses sent me a Pop N’ Play Castle to review.  It was up straight out of the box and only needed about 15 seconds to push a couple of flaps down.  My 4 year old was glad to do the exploring.   As you can see from the photos he had a grand time.  This is great because it can be decorated by the kids with markers, crayons or paint.  Makes a great rainy day activity.  It would also be a great activity for a birthday party or play date.  It is constructed well and is very sturdy.  It allows for a lot of imaginary and constructive play.

Calling all princes, princesses, kings and queens to rule the finest flat-pack castle in the land! Simply unfold and watch the castle come alive as medieval archways, workshops, and a drawbridge appear before your eyes. What adventure awaits you beyond the walls of Build a Dream Playhouse’s™ Pop n’ Play Castle?™

Tradewind Books, “On My Walk” Book Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Recently Tradewind Books sent me a book to review and one to use for a give-away.  They sent me the children’s book, “On My Way” by Kari-Lynn Winters and illustrated by Christina Leist.  I shared it with my 2 year old Luke tonight, and he just loved it.  It was such a fitting and relative book for us because we take a lot of walks, and live in the country.  This book follows a small child as he walks with his mother and his dog in the country.  Luke loved that the dog looked like one of our dogs, Delilah.  It was a great book because even though the words on each page were few, the content allowed us to talk about our own experiences.  For instance the child sees a frog and we talked about how we see frogs on our walks.  He was delighted  seeing  a little boy like him, seeing the same things he does, on his walk.  It was a short, pleasant read and was just perfect for spurring conversation in a toddler or pre-schooler.  The illustrations are charming and amusing, like when the dog is licking the boy’s ice cream cone.  We give this book 2 thumbs up, oh wait, 4 thumbs up!!!

excerpt:

On my walk,
my summer walk,
I hear a horse, clippity-clop, clippity-clop,
and a frog, frippity-frop, frippity-frop

Tradewind Books so generously supplied me with an additional book to give-away to a lucky blog reader.

Capturing Couture Camera Strap Review and Give-Away!!!

I was thrilled that Capturing Couture decided to sponsor a review and give-away on  Mommy Ramblings.  The other day I received a package and inside I found two black boxes with hot pink tulle bows.  What could be inside?

Well, I knew what was inside since I was allowed to pick whatever strap I fancied from their site.  I chose the Orchid Evening 2″ Camera Strap from their Silk Collection.  It is so beautiful!!

Beautiful colors of the sunset, golds, pinks, and purples give an exotic flair to a sophisticated black backdrop.

The Orchid Evening SLR/DSLR camera strap is made from 100% silk woven brocade. Featuring tones of fuschia, pink, lavender and golden flower patterns on a black base.

Features:✦ Comfortable neckpad with plush velvet surface

✦  Customized metal logo rivets

✦  Nylon webbing for ultimate durability

✦  Adjustable features for preferred positioning.

Size Dimensions:

✦  2” wide

✦  30-32” long with 6-8” additional adjustability

Care:

✦  Spot clean with microfiber cloth and water

I love the comfort of this strap, the padded velvet on the underside is very comfortable to wear.  As I wear my camera everywhere,  I really appreciate this.  It is beautiful and gives me a break from the boring DSLR black camera strap that is definitely not a fashion statement.  I think it is great that Capturing Couture (you can get direct to their website by clicking on the text link on the side of my blog) has so many great styles and colors.   Their wide selection has something for everyone.  Make yourself standout, whether you are an established photographer or weekend shutterbug these straps will make you feel like a star.

Like I said take a look at the website by clicking the text link on the side of  the blog, or go to Capturing Couture, to see all the great products they carry.

ScentSationals Warmer & Wax Review and Give-Away!!!

I was delighted when I heard ScentSationals wanted me to review a warmer and wax.  I got to pick a warmer and I chose the Antique Greek as I loved the pottery look and felt it would go well with my decor.  I picked three wax scents and chose, No Place Like Home,  Black Raspberry Vanilla and Vanilla Bean.   My warmer and wax arrived shortly after and I absolutely love the design of the warmer.  It definitely has that pottery feel and look I love.

The warmer uses an included 25 watt light bulb to heat the wax and that really appealed to me because with little ones around, candles can be dangerous.

The top of the warmer has a well for holding the wax cubes as they melt.   The top is very nicely glazed so when you pour out the wax all you need is to wipe it with a paper towel and it is clean and ready for the next use

.

The warmer has a nice length of cord that allows you options in placement.  The cord also has a switch to turn the warmer on and off without having to unplug it.  I set it up in my kitchen and the first scent of wax I chose to use was the “No Place Like Home.”  You simply break off 1 wax cube and put it in the warmer and turn it on.  In no time the wax starts to melt and release a fabulous aroma that filled my whole house.  I loved the smell of the “No Place Like Home” the comforting essence of sweet cinnamon, warm clove and fresh nutmeg accented with subtle nuances of fresh basil and eucalyptus filled my home with a pleasing aroma that made me feel comfortable and cozy.  I went out for a walk and upon coming home it was the first thing I smelled when I opened the door and it made me smile.

The great thing is the fragrance lasts and the instructions tell you if you put it on for an hour in the morning and an hour at night, that your home will have lasting scent.  This is true but I love mine so much, I keep it on even longer.  When you are ready to shut it off you simply pour the wax back in the tray and it will harden and you can use it again until you feel it does not have scent left.  The next day I tried the ” Vanilla Bean” and that had a wonderful aroma that just made my home smell so pleasing to us all.  The following day I tried the “Black Raspberry Vanilla” and loved that too.  I immediately went to www.ScentSationals.com and ordered 4 more scents.  I truly love this warmer and use it everyday.

Take a look at their website and see all the warmer designs and wax scents they have.  I think you will be very impressed.  The price of the products is very affordable and much less then similar companies.

The ScentSationals Company is sponsoring a give-away for my blog readers.  One lucky reader will receive the Antique Greek warmer and the three scents of wax I mentioned above.  All you have to do is visit the www.ScentSationals.com page and tell me a product you would like to try then leave the comment on my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mommy-Ramblings/142284565832382).  You can get a second entry if you like ScentSationals on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ScentSationalsWicklessCandles?sk=app_4949752878) and comment on my Mommy Rambling’s Facebook page that you liked them.  You can get a third entry if you share this give-away as your Facebook status and comment with the link to your page on my Mommy Rambling’s Facebook page.

If you have given up Facebook for lent you can leave your comment here and it will get you an entry in the give-away.  Give-away ends March 26th at 12 am EST.   Good luck everyone!!!

My Little Cupcake Pop Mold Review.

Well, I just got done making about 40 cake pops.  The “My Little Cupcake Company” sent me a mold and one to giveaway to a reader of my blog.  They sent everything out so fast and gave me a nice history of the company and business cards and brochure. The mold was invented by a mother of 3.  I love mom-invented products.   The mold itself is very sturdy and easy to use.  It has a hinge on the bottom which is very handy and makes the mold really easy to operate even with sticky hands.  The company will be coming out with at least three more designs in the near future.  If you can’t wait to see if you win the giveaway, you can visit their website at http://www.mylittlecupcakepop.com/ You can purchase the mold direct from there or they are available as well on Amazon.com.

The first step is to take your cooled baked cake and put it into a large bowl and break it up into small pieces.

Then I added my cream cheese frosting and mixed it all together.

Then take the mixture and scoop it out with a cookie scoop and put the balls in the freezer for about 30 minutes.

You will have about 40 balls.  Then take your “My Little Cupcake Pop Mold”

Open the mold and put one of the balls in.

Close the mold and let the excess squeeze out.  Then wipe off the excess and put it into a bowl to re-mold later.

Open the mold and you should have a nicely formed little cupcake.

Repeat with the rest of the cake balls and then put the formed cake balls in the freezer again for at least 30 minutes.

Melt your chocolate, then dip the bottoms of the cake balls into the melted chocolate.

After you dip it in the chocolate, put a pop stick in it and let it dry upside down.  When dry, melt the white chocolate and dip the top in white chocolate and sprinkle with decor of your choice.

Stick the pops into Styrofoam and keep going.

Okay so that is it.   Now for my review.  This was not a lot of work until the end.  The dipping of chocolate is messy and tedious.  There are also some casualties where the ball falls off the stick.  I think that is why some people just make cake balls and not pops.  The mold itself worked well.  It is just a lot of work and for me I do not know that I would do this again.  I mean the end result was okay but nothing that spectacular that I would have to make these again.  Maybe it is me.  Maybe I am not that creative or this just is not my thing.   I do not feel the need to rush and make another batch.  Like I said, someone else may have a knack for it, and I do appreciate that the mold was designed by a mom.  As I said in a previous post she does recommend using a pack of Oreo cookies and a brick of cream cheese.  Maybe that mixture holds better and definitely is less work than making your own cake and frosting.  Maybe sometime soon I will give that a try, who knows?  It depends how fast I forget.   I am giving away one brand new mold.  If you want it and you will give this a try then you need to subscribe to my blog and like my Facebook blog fan page.  In the next day or so I will post a post about the giveaway and it will have the instructions for the contest.   I think I am going to spend a bit of time with my treadmill now.  Have a great Saturday night!!!

I will leave you some pics of the little guys eating them.  Luke had a problem with it falling off the stick but he solved that by just stuffing the whole thing in his mouth.  : )
