Give Your Dog A Loving Nudge With Nudges Wholesome Dog Treats-#NudgeThemBack

We love our dogs, they are more than pets to us, they are family members.  We have three dogs and they are each very unique in personality and size.  Delilah is our big dog, a purebred American Bulldog and a loyal protector.  Delilah will watch the kids and if any animal or person tries to harm them, they won’t live to tell the tale.  As parents we feel blessed to have a dog that will protect our kids, it makes us feel great to know she’s around since we live out in the country.

Next, we have Zoey, our West Highland White Terrier.  Zoey is always there to “help” with any project.  She is also a fearless protector of our family and our home.  In typical terrier fashion she will be tenacious and persistent if some critter starts hanging around that should not be.  This is not always a great thing, a couple of weeks ago she had it out with a skunk and she was on the losing end.  Those skunks have an unfair advantage!

Last but not least we have tiny Sassafras (Sassy), our Maltese.   Sassy is a sweetheart who does not understand she is tiny.  If the other dogs go off to bark at some intruder, she will go right with them and give it her all.  Her spirit is much bigger than her stature.

The way we love our dogs, we want nothing but the best for them.  We make it a priority to feed them wholesome food and treats that will allow them to live a long, vibrant life. The other day I was in Walmart and saw new dog treats called Nudges® Grillers.  The clear window package showed the treats and they looked just like cuts of steak and chicken that had been freshly grilled.  I am more aware of the ingredients in dog foods and treats and was pleased to see that Nudges® were made in the USA with only USA sourced protein! The number 1 ingredient in the treats was real meat and they did not have artificial flavors or fillers!  These were treats I could feel good about feeding our girls, I picked up a few bags and headed home!

I was really impressed upon opening them, they smelled just like fresh grilled meat and they had a similar texture. One of my young sons asked if this was okay for him to eat, lol.  I told him no, but I think that is a great testimonial for how similar they were to beef or chicken fresh off the grill.  I like them because when we are grilling outside the dogs sit and sniff and want to be included.  Nudges® Grillers Beef and Chicken treats give us a way to include our dogs in our BBQ.  You can learn more and see the full product line up at nudgesdogtreats.com

The taste tests went over great and they just loved the beef and chicken Grillers.  Nudges® also has Sizzlers in Chicken Bacon and Beef & Cheese.  The Grillers and Sizzlers are available in 3 oz or 18 oz bags.  Given our brood, we went with the 18 oz. bags.  I noticed a value size of Jerky Cuts by Nudges® that I want to pick up the next time I am in Walmart.   Check out nudgethemback.com and see how other dog lovers are nudging their best friends and family members back.  You can also stay in touch with them on their Facebook page. So tell me, have you seen the new Nudges® dog treats?   Which ones do you think your dog(s) would like the most?  If you have tried them, I would love to hear what you and your dog thought of them.

Duck Tape Craft–Super Easy To Make Hair Bows!!! #JollyVoxBox

Ducklings Tape

As an Influenster blogger, I was sent a Jolly Vox Box Full of great products. One of the included goodies was a Ducklings mini roll of patterned Duck Tape.  I have quite a variety of Duck Tape in large rolls and sheets but did not have any of the smaller rolls.  Now besides being adorable, this size is great to use  so you do not have to cut the larger rolls into strips when you need more narrow pieces.

DuckTApe

I saw some bows online and it gave me some inspiration.  Without following a tutorial I just grabbed some Duck Tape and improvised and I can tell you the results look great.  If I did it on the fly and they turned out so well, anyone can do it!  I was getting ready to groom my puppies and my Maltese came to mind when I thought to make these.  With the rain and snow any bow in her hair gets dirty and yucky fast.  Bows made of Duck Tape would be super easy to wipe clean!

To make the bows, I started with a  piece of tape about 12 inches long from the big roll and then folded it in half on itself.

Duck Tape 1

Duck Tape 2

The first one got a little wrinkle so I trimmed then end, this took care of the wrinkle and made a sweet petite bow for my petite puppy.

When I had the folded piece, I then took each side and folded inward making them meet in the middle.

Duck Tape 3

Now was the time to add some contrast and finish all the ends. I used the Little Ducklings tape and cut pieces as large as the sides and thenttaped them onto the folded large piece.

Duck Tape 4

Duck Tape 5

After this I did an accordion or fan fold until it was all folded and took a piece of the tape from the Little Duckling roll and wrapped the middle.

Duck Tape 6

Then I grabbed a small hair elastic and taped it on with another piece.  You could use a clip too if you like but for dogs the elastic is what holds the top knot.  After it was attached you fluff the sides and it looked so cute that I immediately made another.

Duck Tape 7

Duck Tape 8

Duck Tape 14

How darling these are to also attach to collars for doggies that don’t have a lot of hair, you can make them bigger for bigger dogs of course.  The tape is very heavy duty and I pulled and pulled on the elastic to check if it would come off but it did not loosen at all.  So I hope you enjoyed this little craft.  It’s so super quick and easy, I hope you give it a try.  If you do please share how it turned out.

Sleepypod Luxury Pet Carrier Review & Giveaway!!!

The award-winning Sleepypod is more than a bed, it’s a lifestyle. It’s your pet’s personal space, designed to fit his or her individual needs. The beauty of the Sleepypod luxury pet carrier is its versatility. A dog that needs to be aware of his surroundings at all times can be just as easily accommodated as the cat who likes her privacy. Most cats and many dogs associate travel with negative experiences such as a trip to the vet or the kennel. Sleepypod allows pets to travel safely in the pampered comfort of their own bed made of luxurious ultra-plush and foam alleviating the stress associated with travel and confinement in hard, plastic boxes with limited visibility. Once your pet becomes accustomed to using the Sleepypod as an ultra comfortable bed; zip Sleepypod’s sturdy mesh top onto the luggage-grade ballistic nylon bed with machine washable liner and Fifi (or Fido) is ready to travel in their own bed. Strapping the seat belt around the Sleepypod turns it into a car seat in seconds. Whether it’s a two-week vacation or an errand across town, you can bring your pet without putting up with a fuss from even the finickiest of furry travelers since Sleepypod is already a trusted part of your pet’s life. Visit their safety page for more information about their commitment to your pet’s safety. The stylish Sleepypod comes in six fashionista-friendly colors.

I recently had the opportunity to review the Sleepypod Luxury Pet Carrier.  I chose the blossom pink and I really love the color even more in person.  The carrier is very well constructed.  We have 3 dogs and a cat.  2 of our dogs are toy size and our cat of course fits in the carrier as well.  I would love to have had this carrier when we took our 2 little dogs with us to Florida last spring.  On that trip we had to bring two carriers and a pet bed not to mention all the gear for two toddlers.  With this carrier we could have had them sitting in the third row, in just the bottom half as a comfy pet bed.  It would have all our bases covered with one unit serving as both the carrier and pet bed.  Less stuff, more comfortable pups and safety, you really can’t want more.  The pet bed is so comfy and plush, Sassy just loved it and when I put the bed on the couch, she jumped in and soon put her head down and snuggled in.  What a pleasure it will be now to travel with the little puppies now, we just have to get another so they both have one, and we will be all set for our next venture.  I think it is great that you can use the bottom half at home as a pet bed that they get comfortable with and know is theirs.  Then when you do travel and animals get stressed during traveling because they are not really sure what is going on, they will at least have that piece of home with them.  If you are looking for a quality, versatile pet carrier that will pamper your pet, check out the Sleepypod.  Your four-legged family member will be very glad you did.

Sleepypod is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win their own Sleepypod Luxury Pet Carrier in the color of their choice (based on availability).  Thank you Sleepypod for the review carrier and for sponsoring this great giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!   Open to US residents.

Spring???

Where did you go???  Last week was so beautiful.  I was able to fitness walk outside instead of on the treadmill, but than wham we got slammed with some snow.  I am not really bummed because it is Spring, it is the end of March and we are moving into April.  How long can it last?  Even today was mild albeit snowing at some points.  Oh, and I did get to see the flowers bloom.  Crazy, you think I am crazy?  I really am not that far gone yet.  : ) My Hibiscus tree (inside) is blooming and it just gives everyone a taste of Spring, even my husband, who usually will complain about my houseplants.  He complains because he is often the caretaker who gets stuck watering them.  However, today he pointed the beautiful blossom out to me.  The dogs enjoyed romping in the snow and the kiddies enjoyed playing in the fresh air on the porch.  We have a few cool days but they will be nice and sunny.  I am hopeful next week we will see higher temps and greener pastures.  Until then I am enjoying the crackling fire and feeling cozy with my family.

Don’t forget our Scentsationals give-away ends soon so be sure and get your entries in.  I am warming some cinnamon vanilla now and it smells so good.  We have so many great reviews and give-aways coming up so make sure you subscribe to the blog and like us on Facebook so you don’t miss any.  Happy Spring everyone!!!

Glorious!!!

That is the word I would use to describe the almost 3 mile walk I just took.  It was very mild here and although it was not sunny, Spring was definitely in the air.  While I have walked on mild days in January there are many differences today.  Today, the smells are different, and like I can smell the coming of the first snow in Autumn, I can smell Spring.  I can’t tell you exactly what it is but it is unmistakable and fills me with a hope and faith that is hard to describe.  This walk did as much if not more for my mental fitness as for my physical.  I walked with Sassy and Zoey, not daring to take Delilah, who would probably decided a few hundred feet into the walk, that she did not want to continue.  She is truly too heavy for me to lift up and I had no stroller to wheel her home in, if I somehow managed to lift her.   When I take her, Jimi and I will need to go together and if she decides to just lie down and not move any more, one of us will have to run back home for the car.

Anyway, I walked with a smile on my face, so grateful for the chance to walk in the beauty that surrounds me.  As I get older I know too well just how short life is.  How we never know if it will be our last day or a loved one’s last day on this Earth.  Given the tragedy in Japan, I do not take lightly the fact that I can walk, breathe fresh air and feel safe.  Sometimes I feel like Heidi, but I love “my mountain.”  It will not be long until the remaining thin layer of ice on the lake melts, until the water is full of boats and kids and life.  While I was thinking of why it felt so different to walk today than say in January on a mild day, it hit me!  The birds, the beautiful songbirds, our snow birds who take off to spend their winters in the south were back.  Not only were they back but they were singing loudly and it was so beautiful to hear.  As we came upon a house on the other side of the lake, a man who was putting up sheet rock inside a house stepped outside.  It was near quitting time for him and he was putting some of his tools in the bed of his truck.  He saw Sassy first and called to his co-worker in the house, “Hey, a little dog!”  Then he saw Zoey and I approach.  He was adjusting things in his truck and he said, “Wow, more people walking around here then cars.”  I don’t know if he expected this small private lake to be like the Indy 500, but he said it, like it almost annoyed him.

I replied, “Well, it’s a beautiful day!”

“Could be better”, was his flat reply.

I thought for a moment, maybe he was having a bad day.  Maybe he was the kind of person who felt everything could be better.  Maybe, he had a fight with his wife or lost someone close to him.  However, I told him that is was good enough and that it will get better.  He muttered something and I thought a moment and as I passed the house I turned and looked over my shoulder in his direction and called out, “I’ll take it!”

The day lilies breaking through the ground.

Who says you can’t bury your head in the snow?
