Anyone that know me, knows that I try to live as naturally as possible. I do not use harmful pesticides in my yard or garden, do not use toxic cleaners or detergents in my home and try to find more natural ways to do most everything. I truly believe the amount of harmful chemicals in our everyday products are the reason cancer, infertility, autism, miscarriage and Alzheimer’s rates have risen so dramatically. As the mother of a cancer survivor getting rid of toxic products is of paramount importance to me.

I really have an issue with chemicals in baby and children’s products, so I have replaced the ones we use with non-toxic options. Baby wipes are something most parents use every day with little ones and did you know that most are filled with dangerous chemicals? They are, and so are hand and face wipes and towelettes.

As a mother of 5 and with my youngest child having a dirty face or hands about 100 times through the day, I know that baby wipes are useful way beyond the diaper stage. I keep baby wipes on me at all times. Seriously they are in my car, in my purse, in my tote bag, in the house and they come on vacation. I would never travel without them. They are so handy for so many little emergencies we parents face on a daily basis.

There is no questions that I need baby wipes, it is just the toxic chemicals in them that I don’t condone. Short of making my own, I was stuck. That is why I was so glad to find WaterWipes when shopping at my local Babies “R” Us recently. WaterWipes are a thick, durable wipe that is great for diaper changes, hands and faces. Best of all WaterWipes contain only two ingredients, 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract.

I picked up a couple of he 60-count resealable packs and have to say, I am very impressed. They work great and I just put them through the paces on our recent vacation. Since they are in soft resealable packs they are easy for me to pop in a tote, my purse, backpack or beach bag.

With eating in the car, hiking, going to the beach, hanging around the pool and in our hotel they got a workout and worked perfectly. They are gentle and effective, do the job I need them to and I don’t worry about spreading nasty chemicals all over my kids. WaterWipes are a safer, natural option and one we will be using from now on.

Poopsies, Waterproof Onesies–Your Ally For Baby Blowout!!! Enter Our Giveaway To Win One!!!

Poopsies Logo

Parenting is a dirty job!  New babies can be a challenge for even seasoned parents.  One of the messiest parts of training is dealing with baby blow outs.  If you don’t know what a baby blow out is, you probably are not yet a parent.  There is a stage that babies go through that is commonly known as the “blowout stage”. This stage is due to the undeveloped nature of the baby’s digestive and excretory system. What was previously wholly supported by the placenta is now developing on its own. This causes the stool of the newborn to be similarly immature. The formation of the baby’s excretion will miss certain steps that sustain the poop to some degree causing it to be loose and unruly. As a result, a diaper will have a hard time containing the liquid-like substance that all parents hate.

If a blow out happens at home, it is easier to deal with but if it happens when you are out, it is much more complex.  I still remember when my son Ethan was only a few weeks old.  My husband and I went out, it was a nice day and we stopped in at a restaurant.  I was seated at a table while we waited for our food and Ethan was in his infant car seat on the table.  In a nano second the scene went from peaceful and relaxed to sheer chaos as he had the dreaded baby blowout.  It was a mess like no other and he of course started crying and when I tried to pick him up discovered how extensive it was and had to get out of Dodge before we grossed anyone out.  I am not even sure of exactly what I did but I motioned to my husband that we had a situation and he told them to make our food to go as he and I ushered our poop filled newborn out to the car.  In the car we went through what seemed a box of wipes, had to bag up his clothing, clean the car seat as best we could and then my husband ran in and picked up our food and we headed home.

I am sure nearly every parent has a story that can relate to the one I shared and if not, you are one of the lucky ones who escaped.  There is a sort of insurance policy against the “oozing” effects of a baby blowout and it is called Poopsies.

Poopsies are unique onesies for babies that contain a special lining made of waterproof, breathable material that effectively protects against diaper leaks and blowouts, saving time and money for busy parents.  The unique waterproof lining in a poopsies keeps diaper blowouts from getting out and ruining clothing.   The baby diaper blowout mess that you see in the image to the right is actually contained in the poopsies on the left.  The blowout doesn’t get through, keeping outfits and everything around baby safe from stains and inconvenient mess.

Poopsies are made of satiny smooth cotton / rayon blend that stretches with baby and machine-washes beautifully.  All poopsies contain a special, unique lining that is made of waterproof, breathable material that is often used to make diapers, changing mattress covers, and bibs.

poopsies are:

  • Breathable (no diaper rash)
  • Stretchy, with complete recovery
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Lint free
  • Made in the USA
  • Machine washable
  • Waterproof

Kissaluvs Biodegradable Diaper Liners Review, Discount Code & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

Here is a great product for you cloth diapering mommas out there! Kissaluvs asked us to review their Biodegradable Diaper Liners. For those of you who would like to use cloth diapers to help our environment by keeping disposable diapers out of the landfills, but don’t want to deal with all the poop, this little invention is a life saver! First of all, they are biodegradable so it is safe to flush or compost, plus with these liners, you don’t have to deal with scraping and dunking diapers! Here’s how it works, Kissaluvs biodegradable liners come in a perforated roll, so you tear off one liner, and lay it in the diaper. If you are putting it in a small diaper you can cut it in half so it fits better. Put the diaper on baby, and away he goes, while momma is left with the knowledge that once your little one fills his diaper, you won’t have to deal with a huge mess. All that is required of you is, flip the liner into the toilet and flush the mess away, no dunking required! This is a great product for daycare workers, babysitters or dads who don’t know what to do with cloth diaper poopies! When you are changing a pee diaper, you can just throw the liner away instead of flushing it.

These are my thoughts on Kissaluvs liners: They are very thin and soft, almost fabric like material, so it is soft against the baby’s skin. You can rest assured though, that it is not fabric, and will break down just like toilet paper in the sewer or septic system. They held up very well when time came to test them out, despite how thin they were. They are tough little liners that do their job efficiently!

We are pleased to announce Kissaluvs has created an exclusive discount code for Mommy Ramblings blog readers for a discount of 10% off the liners at www.kissaluvs.com and shipping is free. Just enter code Carly67 when checking out, this code is only good until September 11th.  In addition, Kissaluvs is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings as well! One lucky blog reader will win a roll of Kissaluvs Biodegradable Diaper Liners to make their cloth diapering lives a little easier!  Thank you Kissaluvs for the review liners and for  sponsoring this awesome give-away on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US Residents only.
