Baby Gogo Doll and Moses Basket Review and Give-away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

It seems baby dolls have consistently been one of the most beloved children’s toys of all time. Children see parents with their baby brothers or sisters and want to imitate them in taking care of their own baby. Many dolls available today have so many features, like talking, crying, wetting diapers, even growing their hair! I myself am a fan of a simple classic doll that teaches a child to use their imagination to make their baby doll come to life, as it can be a great learning experience. I was sent a Baby GoGo Doll and Moses basket for review a short time ago from their manufacturer. I was pleased to find that this toy was a sweet, classic doll, that is perfect for inspiring natural, imaginative play!

Baby GoGo was recently reinvented for the 21st century, outfitted with cozy, gender neutral pajamas and a soft little blankie! In addition to the Baby GoGo doll and Moses basket, they also have a diaper bag and play outfit, with more to come! My niece enjoyed mothering her Baby GoGo doll, laying it in the Moses basket for a nap, covering it with the soft blankie, and watching as it closed it’s eyes and slept. A book is included with the doll, “Baby GoGo Goes Home” That tells of Baby GoGo coming home from the hospital to meet big brother and sister! The body of Baby GoGo is soft and huggable, but with more realistic face, arms and legs. It has long pretty eyelashes on it’s eyes that open and close! The Moses basket is colorful and sturdy, it has a small pocket on the outside, and is the perfect size for Baby GoGo, and includes a tiny fluffy pillow! The handles on the basket make for easy carrying, and I can imagine my niece will be carrying it with her everywhere, using her imagination and being a wonderful little mother!

Baby GoGo and accessories would make the perfect Christmas gift for any little girl or boy, especially if there is a new baby in the family. They can use their new baby doll and imitate mommy and daddy and learn to help out with the baby. Mommy Ramblings is adding Baby GoGo to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide, because we know what a great gift it would make!

Baby GoGo is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings! One lucky blog reader will win their own Baby GoGo Doll and Moses basket!! Thank you Baby GoGo for this classic review doll and give-away!!!  Open to US Residents.

The Babymio Collection Review & Give-Away!!!

The Babymio Collection is a line of blankets, plush animals, slippers, robes and accessories for babies and toddlers.  Though their robes and slippers only go up to toddler sizes, their adorable animals can be loved at any age.  The plush collections features six animals:Millie the Giraffe, Jax the Tiger, Mooky the Cow, ChiChi the Cheetah, Mellven the Moose and Kona the Monkey. The company started in a spare bedroom by a mother and daughter team is now located in a warehouse in Sunnyvale, California.  You can find The Babymio Collection at specialty retailers or right on Amazon.com.

I was generously sent a Kona Monkey Plush Animal, Kona Blanket and Kona Slippers for review.  After Luke’s bath we tried everything out.  He loved the slippers, they were soft and cozy with a soft plush elastic type back strap to keep them on securely.  The blanket is so soft and plush that I want one for myself.  Luke is an expert on blankets (his middle name is Linus) and he gave it two thumbs up for the minky softness and adorable factor.  The plush monkey is absolutely precious and as I said above their line of plush is great for any age.  They are super soft, nicely detailed and well constructed.  Once you see one, you will want the whole jungle!  You can put together a great coordinating gift that is just perfect for baby showers, baby birth gift, Christenings, and other occasions.  You can even get a matching plush for the other new baby’s siblings so they don’t feel left out.

Mommy Ramblings is adding The Babymio Collection to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.  Delight anyone with one of their plush animals this holiday season!  Their baby items make a great gift for the babies and toddlers on your gift list!

Songs from the Baobab: African Lullabies & Nursery Rhymes Book & CD Review and Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I really enjoy enriching my children’s lives by introducing them to different cultures and traditions.  I was recently sent a book to review that allowed me to do just that.  “Songs from the Baobab” is an enchanting book of African lullabies and nursery rhymes.  This hardcover book includes a CD that stores inside the back cover.  Representing 11 languages originating from Central and West Africa and brought to life with lavish illustrations, this collection’s rhymes and lullabies soothe babies and children to sleep as the songs travel from one country and one language to another. Lyrics are reproduced in the original language and translated into English, followed by notes on the origin and cultural context of each song. The accompanying CD features 29 songs from 10 countries—including Rwanda, the Ivory Coast, and Senegal—each one unique in language and sound, recorded with indigenous instruments and exquisitely performed by women, men, and children. This delightful, enchanting production captures the staccato rhythm of the children’s rhymes and the poetry of the language as well as a sense of the heritage and tradition of each culture.

This is a great book to share with your children.  It is an excellent book for little ones who have been adopted from the countries represented, as it helps them identify and know the cultural songs and rhymes that are native to where they were born.  This book and CD are also a great resource to use in school settings and tie in with lessons about different cultures and traditions.  If your family shares their heritage with the cultures in this book you will absolutely love reading and singing the rhymes and songs with your children.

The book features colorful illustrations by Élodie Nouhen as well as full lyrics in the original languages, translated into English. A map and explanatory notes serve to make this an enchanting educational experience for adults as well as children.

Paris-based musician and educator Chantal Grosléziat recorded these pieces with singers from each culture. Paul Mindy arranged each piece with traditional instruments, including the kora, balafon, kalimba and rain sticks. The lullabies and rhymes make frequent references to animals and the natural world. For example, the Central African Republic lullaby “Dunga” urges the newborn to “take your strength from nature.” Family relationships, and in particular the loss of a parent, are find a place in these songs from cultures where disease, famine and war are part of everyday life. A song from Mauritania tells the baby, “your mother has gone to search for jujubes,” and a piece from Guinea evokes the sad fate of orphans, saying “Sali Wonde, nothing is eternal.”

The Secret Mountain is dedicated to the creation of children’s books, videos and music of the highest quality. The French imprint – La Montagne Secrète – is considered to be one of the most original and innovative children’s publishing houses in Canada and France. The company recently made its United States debut with music, DVDs and books.  For more information, visit www.thesecretmountain.com.

This book and CD set makes a great gift this holiday season.  Mommy Ramblings is adding it to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide.

The Secret Mountain is sponsoring a give-away on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win their own “Songs from the Baobab” Book and CD.  Thank you to the Secret Mountain for the review book set and for sponsoring this beautiful give-away on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US and Canadian residents.

Continuum Games, Lumps and Family Talk 2 Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I was recently sent 2 super fun games from Continuum Games for review.

The first has a Christmas theme and is called Lumps. Instead of fearing finding lumps of coal in their Christmas stocking, your child will be begging Santa for some of these Lumps. The Legend of the Lump game is that children around the world have been so good over the past few years; lumps of coal have built up at the North Pole. Puzzled by what to do with the excess coal; Santa’s elves decided to create an exciting new game that uses lumps of coal of all shapes and sizes. Lumps, the Elf Coal Game is the most addictive family dice game you’ll ever play! The goal is to score the most points in three rolls by rolling pairs of the same number. Roll a pair of 3s, score 3 points, a pair of 10s scores 10 points. What makes the game unique is that it has four different types of dice and there are few high numbers. On each turn you have to make decisions on which dice to keep and re-roll. Do you play it safe and hold a pair of 4s, or chance it and try for a high pair? The endless possibilities make Lumps exciting and addictive. This fun game makes a great stocking stuffer! All the coal pieces store in the zippered stocking storage bag.  This game is recommended for ages 6 and up, 1-100 players can play!

The second game is a great game that spurs lots of conversation among family members.  It is called Family Talk 2 and is the second edition of their award-winning Family Talk game.  Engage your family in meaningful conversations with this set of 100 cards filled with new and exciting questions.  This game is perfect to play anywhere, the cards are all on a handy carabiner that makes it the perfect travel game.  Family Talk 2 is the winner of the Tillywig Brain Child Award.  This game is suitable for ages 3 and up.  These cards have thought-provoking questions that will have your whole family talking and discovering new things about each other.

Continuum Games is providing Mommy Rambling’s readers with a discount code that will give them 15% off any www.continuumgames.com purchase.  The discount code is funforallages.  Mommy Ramblings is also adding Continuum Games to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide because their games make great gifts.

Manhattan Toy, Boysterous Action Figures, Slope Shreddin’ Sean Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

If you have little boys and are looking for an original gift this holiday season, you will be very interested in Boysterous Action Figures.  Boysterous is a new line of action figures from Manhattan Toy.  These little boys are on the move just like real boys, they have possible arms and legs that allow them to hold realistic positions.  Their magnetic feet and hands allow them to be posed and played with realistically.  We were sent Slope Shreddin’ Sean for review.  Sean is a rad snowboarder, who is all decked out in his green plaid hoodie, pants and black snowboard boots that have magnetic bottoms to hold him secure to his snowboard.  With his feet firmly planted on the board and his adjustable body, your little boy will have him doing all kinds of break neck stunts.   My 4-year-old loves this little guy and was so excited when he saw he had magnetic feet.  With little ones, it can be so hard when action figures need to be propped or need adult skill to get them to stand or move realistically.  With Boysterous their magnetics make it easy for little hands to put them in a pose and they will stay there.  Boysterous is not a toy that will leave your child frustrated or calling for you to keep fixing something.  There are other four other boys in the Boysterous line and your son will want to collect them all.  You can find Halfpipe Pete, Touchdown Dillon, Goalie Gavin and Slap Shot Sam.

Social Couture, Kids Snowman Printed Apron & Mitt Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

My two-year-old son Luke has a love for oven mitts as strange as that may sound.  It all started with a Melissa & Doug red and white checked oven mitt he got in his slice and bake cookie set last Christmas.  He would wear that oven mitt around all the time.  He is such a funny kid.  He has a few others and I knew when I was asked to select something from Social Couture, that he would just love the Kids Snowman Printed Apron & Mitt.  I was not wrong and he could not wait to get it on when I showed it to him.  We do a lot of baking and crafts in our house so this set is so festive and useful around the holidays.  The set is great quality and very nicely detailed.  A set like this makes baking even more fun for kids.

Kids Snowman Printed Apron & Mitt

Social Couture is an on-line store for home decor and entertaining products.  They provide imaginative party decorations and inspired tabletop ideas, so that throwing a festive party needn’t be such a production and an expense for their customers. Their single, pre-packaged goal is to deliver a high quality themed party complete with decorations to centerpieces to napkins & plates in an effort to simplify and elevate their customer’s lives. Social Couture also offers a wide variety of other high end party supply products from dinnerware, glasses, flatware and votives to music and unique entertaining products.  The goal of Social Couture is to be the one stop party store for the modern and upwardly mobile, on-line consumer.
