Win an Autogrphed Copy of Anne Wilson’s Debut Album “My Jesus”

Anne Wilson - Jeff Roberts Agency

Today was a horrendous day. I emotionally broke down, it erupted out of something mundane, but I just sobbed and sobbed. Grief is like that. I am approaching the two-year anniversary of the day my life changed forever. May 6th will be two years since my precious son Raymond Charles unexpectedly passed away. I know that as I approach that date, my emotions are all over the place. I love and miss my son beyond which any words could express.

I had an assignment for my blog and it was to review Anne Wilson’s debut album, “My Jesus” which was just released on April 22nd. After feeling emotionally broken, I scoffed to myself at the email. It was just a reminder of work I had taken on that I did not feel I could complete. However, I listened to one song and then to the title track “My Jesus“. It was an official music video and it sent chills up my spine. It opened with parents finding out the worst news ever as they stood in a hospital hallway with their younger daughter nearby.

The video told the story about the loss of a son and hopeless parents who are brought hope through Jesus. This video and the lyrics of the song spoke to me and the end gave me goosebumps as it is revealed that Anne Wilson’s own brother lost his life in 2017 in a car crash.

After seeing the end of the video, I watched Anne’s “My Story” video where she talks about how the tragic loss of her brother in 2017 inspired the title track of her debut album. It was very moving and I could identify with many of the things she spoke about.

If you are struggling right now, you might relate to the lyrics of “My Jesus”:

Are you past the point of weary

Is your burden weighing heavy

Is it all too much to carry

Let me tell you ‘bout my Jesus

Do you feel that empty feeling

‘Cause shame’s done all its stealing

And you’re desperate for some healing

Let me tell you ‘bout my Jesus

Another song from the album called “Mamas” features Hillary Scott from Lady A and will be released on May 4th for Mother’s Day. The video includes footage of Anne surprising her mother with the son and Hillary Scott with her daughters.

My Jesus

Here are some fun facts about Anne Wilson:

“My Jesus” was nominated for a 2022 Billboard Music Award for “Top Christian Song” against Kayne West. The awards will broadcast live coast-to-coast on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC. It will also stream live on Peacock.

“My Jesus” Hit #1 on Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 and #19 on the Rolling Stone Top 25 Trending charts. Anne Wilson was featured as Billboard’s October 2021 Chartbreaker Artist in their 21 Under 21 issue

Gary LeVox Debut Solo Album and Giveaway #GaryLeVoxMIN #MomentumInfluencerNetwork

I love inspirational and meaningful music. I love so many Rascal Flatts songs for that reason. Did you know that Gary LeVox, the lead singer and co-founder of Rascal Flatts just debuted his solo album, ONE ON ONE?  This venture merges 2 of Gary’s biggest passions, music and faith! Gary sings a duet with his daughter Brittany LeVox on a song called While I Wait that is just precious and heartwarming. ONE ON ONE was released by Big Machine Records and features artists like MercyMe, BRELAND and more.

You can feel really good about purchasing this album for another reason because $1 of every purchase goes to fight human trafficking through the Tim Tebow Foundation.

When asked about the role God has played in his musical journey, LeVox said, “I feel like God graced us with a platform where we can not only touch people’s lives through music, but by being men of God offstage too,” explained LeVox. “At those times when we are with fans that are going through something like cancer, it is so wonderful to not only sing for them but to hold their hand and pray with them. I want them to know that they have a friend in me. I’m not just some guy on the stage. I feel like Christ has put me in this position because He knew I could handle the obligation, which often means taking the time to lift someone up in prayer.”

Stream ONE ON ONE now and get a copy of this awesome EP at https://garylevox.lnk.to/OneOnOneMI!

The Queen and The Outcast-A Love Story from The Whole Damn Mess #WholeDamnMess

This post is sponsored by the One2One Network. As always, my words and views are 100% my own.

Do you believe opposites attract? While, it is true in magnets, there are differing opinions when it comes to finding love. How many couples do you know who split because they came from different worlds, were too different, did not enjoy any of the same things, were not on the same wavelength etc.? I am sure you can name a few.

On the flip side, you will find couples that claim the reason their relationship works so well, is due to their differences. How many times have you heard someone say their mate is the ying to their yang?

I think it is true that our differences can either make or break our relationships. I am sure many couples are in therapy seeking help because their differences are causing turmoil in their relationship. Not being on the same page when it comes to handling finances, raising children and religion, can cause a great deal of strife for couples.

As a writer, one piece of advice I give to aspiring bloggers, is to write about what you know. I suppose the same can be said to songwriters. Songs written about real feelings, issues and emotions create the music that others who have experienced the same things can strongly identify with.

With older children and younger children, I often find myself dealing with opposite ends of the parenting spectrum at the same time. In the same year, I could be found attending the preschool graduation of my youngest son and the graduate school graduation of my daughter. One week I am teaching my son to ride a two-wheel bicycle and then next cheering loudly as my daughter completes the NYC marathon.

My older kids are at the age where they come to me for advice (some more than others) on affairs of the heart. They may ask my opinion about new relationships, and differences in age, goals, religion, personalities, hobbies etc. My best advice, is not to be rigid in what they consider “their type” and instead keep an open mind. Many times, people find their true soul mate is nothing like the person they thought was “their type”.

Don Miggs, frontman for the band Whole Damn Mess, is a testimony of what can happen when you let go and stop trying to force your life in a certain direction. Caught up in the mindset of “fame and fortune” he was not getting anywhere fast. The rock star lifestyle that he thought would be a result of his fame, instead came from marrying the love of his life.

Self-admittedly, he has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, that the mansion he lives in, is a result of who he married and not his own success. He learned to embrace his life for what it is. He and his wife came from different worlds and the band’s new album, The Queen and the Outcast is a unique love story for rock and roll dreamers.

Don along with his co-writer/producers Lawrence Katz and C. Todd Nielsen created a sound that embodies classic rock from the 70’s and 90’s mixed with modern energy. Don credits Katz and Nielsen for pushing him to keep the music and lyrics as personal and authentic as possible.

Don is not a kid, but he is not ready for the old age home just yet. He likes that this music celebrates that his generation, is not dead yet! The songs on this album are written to speak not preach, Don wants them to be part of legacy that his family can be proud of. He is less concerned with writing to get songs in the top 10, but feels it would be amazing if that happened.

My thoughts:

The songs are filled with real lyrics and emotions. You know they are coming from a person who knows has experienced what he is singing about. This makes for authentic songs filled with raw emotion and real passion.
If you have ever found yourself at a crossroads and looking for a reason to take a leap of faith, We Don’t Need a Reason, may sum up some of what you are feeling. In the end, the point is that sometimes people don’t need a reason to choose the path they do.

Another track I could identify with, and I think many of our readers may as well is, Be Good To Yourself. This song was written about Don’s wife and her struggle with postpartum depression. Even if you did not suffer from this, anyone can relate to the fact that we need to take time for ourselves. I know, I need to.

Anywhere Without You, is sweet because, it shows that even with the good and the bad, this person who loves you, does not want to go anywhere without you. Okay, as I write this, it sounds somewhat controlling and obsessive, people do need their own space, we must have boundaries, but really, it is not like that, lol. You can check out the video for this track below.

You can judge for yourself, because the album is being released today. Check out the track listing below:

TRACK LISTING:
1) And There They Were
2) We Don’t Need A Reason
3) Be Good To Yourself
4) Anywhere Without You
5) That’s Just How It Goes
6) Maybe We Should Do It
7) Helium
8) Summer Under Covers
9) When She Says
10) Got You Stuck in My Head

Discover “The Answer” by Jeremy Camp #Giveaway #TheAnswer #FlyBy

What a week! With so many going through unspeakable pain due to the shooting in Las Vegas and the people trying to rebuild their lives in Puerto Rico, Texas, Florida and the Caribbean, one questions keeps coming to the surface…What is going on in this world?

This week, I also received Jeremy Camp’s new CD, The Answer. I thought the lyrics to the title track summed up a lot of what is on my mind and I am sure on the minds of thousands of others.

So many questions, the world is reaching
So many hurting, so many lost
With all this thriving, who can we lean on?
Creations crying, out from the dark

Another song on the CD that I think many will relate to is, Never Stopped Loving Me. It reminds us that no  matter if you go astray or through a dark period, God never stops loving you. He is always there for you, and that is a very comforting.

Many of the tracks on this CD, have that recurring message in them. In Love So Great, the lyrics say:

You made a way when I was so lost
You came running when I could not
You gave your life to show me true love
And took my chains and gave me freedom

Word of Life, is another powerful song and I think it will speak to many in these times. You can view the video below.

Word of life
Speak to my weary heart
Strengthen my broken parts
Lead me to Your open arms
Word of truth

Illuminate all these lies
The enemy speaks inside
In freedom I will rise‘Cause You called me out from the grave
So I can live like I’ve been changed
There is a new song in my soul
And it begins when I breathe in
Your word of life
(Your word of life)

Spirit of God
Take me to a deeper place
Take me out of what is safe
And I will not be afraid
Spirit of God
Fill me with joy again
Springing up from within
It cannot be contained

The lyrics to My Defender are very applicable to what is going on in the world. I think this whole album can bring hope and comfort to those who feel broken and hopeless in this world.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow
And I stand face to face with the enemy
I will know that I am not forsaken
You surround me when the fire’s at my feetYou’re my defender
You fight for me
I will remember
You’re all I need
You are my healer
My remedy
Against the power of the unknown
And I will not stand alone
‘Cause You’re my defender

I can see You when the night is closing in
And I will trust You when it seems that there’s no hope
And I hold tight to the promise You have given
‘Cause this I know and I am confident

The Answer was just released on October 6th and is Jeremy Camp’s 15th career album in 15 years. Since his debut album, 2002’s STAY, Camp has established himself with numerous landmark accolades including four RIAA-Certified Gold albums, more than 4.5 million albums sold, a GRAMMY nomination, three American Music Awards nominations, multiple ASCAP awards, 41 radio No. 1’s, a Gold digital single (There Will Be A Day) and a multi-platinum DVD.

“What’s been amazing about The Answer is that all of the songs were inspired by just being present,” Camp shares. “There was no song where I was sitting there and had this epiphany when I was writing. In every writing session, any idea literally just came in the moment. I was praying the whole time, ‘Lord, give me opportunities to combine these things that You are doing in our hearts.”

Camp continues, “When things get tough our first initial reaction is to say, ‘I don’t know if I can handle this.’ I can just tell you there is nowhere else to run. We can turn our backs on the Lord, but that’s where the problems are. There is pain and there is hurt, and Jesus literally offers peace, He offers hope and joy, and He offers the words of eternal life. This song is to encourage others to stick to the only true source of life who gives us all we need – Jesus Christ.”

Discover Laura Story’s New Album, “Open Hands” #FlyBy #OpenHands #Giveaway

I recently had the pleasure to listen to Laura Story’s new album, Open Hands. I like Laura’s music, so I was excited to learn more about what inspired the songs on this album and listen to the tracks. The title track, Open Hands is about worshiping God with your hands open. Instead of clenching your fists when you feel things slipping away, open your hands and let God know that it is all his. That is a very powerful message!

“We never get to a point where we can do life apart from complete and total daily dependence on Jesus,” Story admits. “The irony is the less control we have, the more peace we have and the more, I would even say, success and joy we find. It’s a contrary picture to what the world tells us, but it’s gaining through letting go.”

Open Hands is the follow-up to 2013’s critically-acclaimed God of Every Story, and in the years that have passed since her last release, Story has given birth to twins, making their brood a family of five. Now, as a mom to three kids—Josie, Benjamin and Griffin—the posture of “open hands” feels more necessary than ever before as she juggles ministry and motherhood.

Tracks on the Album:

  • Death Was Arrested
  • Open Hands
  • You Came Running
  • Give You  Faith
  • For The Love Of My King
  • Awake My Soul (A 1000 Tongues)
  • Whisper
  • Every Word You Breathe
  • Majesty
  • Extraordinary
  • Grace Abounds

A parade of A-list songwriters, including Matt Redman, Matt Maher, Mia Fieldes, Hank Bentley, Sarah Hart and Seth Mosley, among others, pepper the album’s 11 tracks. Through writing sessions both alone and with others, Story began to gradually see this common thread of surrender emerge.

Give You Faith is a favorite of mine, it talks about how the greatest thing you can give your children, is faith. It is a very sweet ballad of a mother to her child. Laura talks about how she won’t be a perfect parent, she will let them down, disappoint them but, she will earn their trust and give them faith.

Story isn’t afraid to write about grace at work in the middle of unexpected, unexplainable situations. She can only write from experience and how she’s seen God redeem the darkest chapters of her own life. “My greatest goal is always for my story to encourage listeners to believe that they, too, can live out their faith in the midst of hard circumstances,” she says. “I truly believe that the songs we sing and the songs we write act as the soundtrack for people’s faith. So I want to give people the most substantial tools that give them the clearest picture of who God is and who they are in Christ.”

Another song I really like is, Grace Abounds. It talks about times when we feel the world is broken, when it feels like hope cannot be found. Sadly these days, feelings like that creep in far too often. This song addresses that and reminds us that even in the darkest times, Grace Abounds.

“When it feels like hope can’t be found, when we don’t even know how we’re going to put one foot in front of the other,” she continues, “Scripture teaches us that’s when grace abounds.”
