None Like Him is a book that explains 10 ways God is different from us and why that is a good thing. Author Jill Wilkin let’s us know it is good that we are not like God and that our limitations are there because they were designed to be there. We were never meant to be like God. This book implores us to embrace our limits as a way to give glory to God and his limitless power.
When we let God be God we can enjoy the freedom that comes when we let go of trying to posses what only God can. God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite and incomprehensible. God is all of those things and we can never be. The author shows that the root of every sin comes from our rebellious desire to attain the attributes that can only belong to God.
Understanding our limits is the key to just ceasing to achieve something we never can. One thing that really resonates for me from this book is that so many people speak in absolutes. You know they say someone or themselves “always” or “never” does something. They may accuse a spouse of “always” leaving the stove dirty or their child of “always” waiting for the last-minute to do their homework.
On the contrary maybe they say that they “never” spend any time doing things for themselves or their husband “never” helps them with the housework. Truth is, the only person that always and never does anything, is God. Breaking free of that way of speaking can really help all of our relationships. Understanding that we were designed like this and being at peace with that will bring an inner calm to our lives. We can never be like God, we will make many mistakes, we will sin and we will fail but that is okay because there is None Like Him. The book can be purchased on Amazon.
