Little Pim Ā believes that all children deserve to learn a second language at the age they learn best which is six months to six years. Scientific research shows that learning a foreign language comes naturally for children when they start at an early age. Ā Little Pim is the brainchild ofĀ Julia Pimsleur Levine, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and mother. Julia was inspired by her own bilingual childhood; she learned French fluently by age six and is the daughter of Dr. Paul Pimsleur, who created the Pimsleur Method, the popular language learning program for adults.

The Entertainment Immersion MethodĀ® integrates the latest scientific research regarding kidsā€™ language learning and brain development. Pimsleur Levine developed the series with leading neuroscientistĀ Dr. April Benasich, director of the Rutgers Infancy Studies Lab.

Each of Little Pim’s educational DVDs has a unique, child-friendly theme, such as eating, playtime and feelings. The method teaches 360 words and phrases, providing the essential building blocks for language learning. A child only needs 500 words to be considered ā€œconversationalā€ in a language. Babies, toddlers and kids respond enthusiastically to Little Pimā€™s format, which combines animated and live-action videos.

We recently tried the Little Pim Italian For Kids: Eating and Drinking DVD. Ā Like all of Little Pim’s DVD it contains Ā 5-minute episodes to accommodate a young childā€™s attention span. Simple sentences are broken down into easy-to-understand parts and reinforced through repetition by native speakers. Ā My little ones were very interested in the DVD and started to pick up on it right away. Ā I think that it is great that it is not overwhelming Ā and so therefore kids find it easier to absorb. Ā Little Pim offers so many different languages and their DVDs can be purchased alone and in gift sets. Ā If you are looking to give your child an advantage of learning a second language, Little Pim can help introduce them and get them to conversational language in the chosen language.
